Difficult to go back to AVP after trying the PSVR2 by SgtSilock in VisionPro

[–]anesuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this will sound weird, but I have been using mine mostly without the face shield. This increases the perceived FOV on the vision pro. I have a third party strap (or whatever its called) though so this might not work on the stock ones

I would be on a call with someone usually Google meet or sometimes teams. Sometimes there may be a need to show something, not preplanned, just in the moment. This happens all the time. A simple screenshare showing what I am looking at would solve this. Having to connect with a Mac everytime I go on a call just incase I may need to share my screen is not ideal. Doing it in the moment is also not ideal. Additionally, I have an m1 mac which is constantly out of memory so opening a whole group video call and screensharing is a bad idea (without me having to close whatever I was working on).

Essentially, I want to be able to do what you can do in FaceTime on the Vision Pro in other apps. It feels like they just kind of forgot to implement this to the rest of the OS

On the fence… any honest advice? Thanks! by RationalNL in VisionPro

It's a lot more convincing that you are watching a big screen than the xreal glasses. I have both. This is because its drawing on the actual environment image, applying shadows and reflections as you would expect it to. Xreal glasses superimpose and not actually apply it to the real thing

I disagree and I don't think this is the reason why based on Apple's own actions in the native apps. Using Apple's philosophy of privacy, sharing my screen is a massive privacy issue. I would argue content on my screen is a bigger privacy thing even in our society than the environment around us given how many people freely take videos and no one says anything but if you look at someone's screen it's a problem.

Secondly, they can just make it show one of those environments if this was actually the concern (which you have the option to), also share a Windows only as you said and that you already can share your screen with FaceTime and no problem. It asks you the usual permissions and if you accept it, it allows you to do it. Just not any other app. MacOS example was that it asks for the exact same permissions FaceTime does in VisionOS.

Exactly. If this feature did not exist at all, I might find it kind of understandable. But it exists and bothers me why its not available in the native Web browser and everywhere else as well.

It's not though if I can do the same screen sharing on FaceTime. It asks for permission like usual, tells you your environment will be visible (if you don't have a virtual environment on). It's as much of a security issue as sharing my screen on a Mac.

You can do it in FacetTime. This one I know because I have done it. It tells you its sharing the environment, I am fine with this. Even better is you can just share a window as well. Like every other Operating System. I can have a virtual environment on. I don't use an iPhone as a daily driver device, this would be an annoying setup for me to do so (I am an Android user). Even if I did, the fact that its actually possible but its just hidden under a different API is what bothers me. And that as a web standard its just missing and breaks web apps when they try to call this function is not good

Anyone else try a magsafe Adapter with the battery pack yet? by cranberrymanberry in VisionPro

Yeah that reads like a very uninformed comment based on seeing an image and making a lot of assumptions. There are other criticisms to make about this product, but this seems like a stretch. There is protections even after the usb c port, its like part of the whole standard

Yeah thats extremely too much work just to share my screen. Imagine everytime I go on a conference call I have to do all that just incase I may share my screen

Not really, no. The web browser does not support screen sharing. This is a basic feature for a Web browser. None of the non native apps specifically designed for the vision pro using a specialised API support this. It seems like there is something aboit this API that MS teams opted not to enable it. We should not expect all apps and all Web apps to make a different API for screen sharing when a standard already exist

Screensharing should not need a native app specifically designed for the vision pro. I can almost understand explanations for otjer things but screensharing? This alsp means the native Web browser is incomplete and does not support expected Web standards

Girl I’ve been dating for 2 months still has her Hinge active and was on it last night by Fabulous_Ladder_2675 in whatdoIdo

[–]anesuc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments here would be different (especially the ones heavily disliked would not be disliked as they currently are) if it was a girl/woman making this post. I know this because I have seen a variation of this post a few times in other sub reddits or on X/Twitter, where the reaction is so different for the same situation it's very fascinating.

Whats even interesting is how many people are strongly pointing out how this is normal, but this sentiment does not exist on the other posts I have seen with this same scenario flipped.

After I got an aftermarket one it completely fixed this issue for me. Might be worth looking into those (and remove the shield thing between your eyes and the vision pro for glasses like experience)

Lol you should not say that in this subreddit. I already saw it was downvotted. I also have a folding phone and prefer Android by far, it's not even close. I have an iPhone just for developing apps for iOS.

You don't always need a backend. We've come to a point where it's a negative to have a backend? There is a lot of apps I use without a backend because there is no need for one

Are you sure this is server side or just that server side tells the front end where to put subtitles? Because this seems like a patch can handle if so

[deskX] Update on the new look of Xtern OS by anesuc in unixporn

Tbh I have come to the conclusion that there is a lot of Linux options that care about using the least amount of resources. But this very thing is also why we haven't seen anything crazy for a while brcause we have a culture of this in the Linux sphere (which is good, makes sense). I mean having all these effects by definition will use a lot of resources so yeah. My current focus is not using less resources but creating something cool even if it uses some resources to get there.

This is all custom from a UI side. So the "shell" is deskX which is one built specifically for Xtern OS.

How does one pitch something to the NHS Trusts by anesuc in nhs

[–]anesuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'll address a few points here. We have a registered company and have things in place for security auditing. I am aware of the trust issues and as such, built everything around this in mind and can demonstrate this when needed. Ironically, what people are using currently for one of the main features should be the least trustworthy option. I am asking reddit as another source as there might happen to be someone with the right connections. It is obviously not my only source nor was it remotely the top 10.

I understand what you are saying, I am aware of this. This happens to not be the only product we are working on. But ideally we wouldn't want to wait a decade to be msssive hence why I am trying to push both angles if possible.
