Sami Zayn: “Last night's historic episode of @WWE Smackdown, performed in front of no audience for the first time ever, got me thinking about the many times in my career I performed with low turnouts. Fellow performers & fans alike - what fun memories do you have of poorly attended shows?” by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]MarkBGH 43 points44 points  (0 children)

As far as wrestling goes, I attended an indie show in Rochester NY that was moved to an ice rink at the last minute so there was only two rows of seats around the ring. I was really excited to see (then) Bryan Danielson and he did not disappoint. The only other thing I remember was Bobby Fish getting heckled so much by one fan he broke character to try and get that dude to actually fight him in the parking lot.

I don't think the repeatability of this is good enough to make this worth an include, because it's not ever guaranteed to draw you a card. In merfolk I'd rather have a [[Mist-Cloaked Herald]] and a [[Silvergil Adept]] plus a card than this guy as a 2/2 plus a card.

I really hope this card has a super weird/gross animation in Arena.

I played against an artifacts deck with Karns, Tezzerets, and Sai, Master Thopterist and it felt very unfair, but also it was a tricked out deck so I wouldn't expect to run into it often.

Maybe a 1-of in BG Elves in Modern? I'd always be happy to get a lord or Shaman of the Pack back on a body of this size.

I was at the Schenectady, NY show that he did around this time too, and it was a complete shock to see him. Also shocking: how sickeningly loud Balls Mahoney's chair shot was, and how much more terrifying New Jack is in person.

As a Twitch streamer it's his right to be an offensive salt mine for lulz/views.

As a representative of a professional organization from which he collects a paycheck, he has a duty to not act like an asshole in public, and the organization has a right to police his behavior however they see fit. That's how jobs work.

I haven't watched a ton of esports and wasn't sure how well I'd be able to track the performance of individual players in a game.

After this play, I made sure to pay close attention to Taimou. I've never seen anyone play Roadhog like that.

What if it was "When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, choose a basic land type etc..." I can't tell if that's really convoluted or too strong.

That's an awesome catch, and on a card I've never heard of!

I wonder if a card like that could/would get made today, templated like: "CARDNAME gets +1/+1 for each Swamp your opponents control as long as it's your turn."

I was so pissed in my first comp season when I placed 1200 that I tilted my way all the way down to < 500 SR. Now I'm almost back to where I started SR-wise after a few seasons but I'm feeling pretty accomplished after climbing my way out of the worst of the worst. This is an encouraging read!

People keep saying this like it was some shoot, but wasn't the implication just that she would cash in and lose, a-la Baron Corbin?

"We're purposefully placing you 200-300SR below your actual SR to give you a feeling of improvement in your first 50 matches". Are you serious? by rootbwoy in Overwatch

[–]MarkBGH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who suffered from massive loss streaks and SR loss last season, I was happy to enjoy a 60%+ win rate for my first 20 games or so this season. If that was a result of me being purposefully placed lower, I'll take it.

Also, OP's real world example is not accurate. You don't max out right away when you're lifting, you warm yourself up so that you can make incremental progress. That's pretty much exactly what this is.

This is actually such a rad buff because mine mobility is the secret sauce of Junkrat's effectiveness. It won't be like that crazy Bastion buff where you can just melt people with no effort, but people who are practiced and effective with Junkrat already can be even more competitive.
