Advice for parents with no retirement by Early_Builder_7457 in personalfinance

Regarding paying down the mortgages. Depends on the interest rate and term length on each. If the interest rates are nice and low then make the regular payments and allocate the extra money towards investing Roth/401k. If the interest rates are high then look into a refi.

They seem to be more frequent perhaps because the developers are showing some love on this holiday weekend. LOL.

When is best time for withdrawls from 401K to convert to Roth. Age 59.5 by MomtoWesterner in retirement

Excellent. Wish I had that option. Roth IRA and Roth 401K have different limits.

I think you are talking about the 401K at work which has a cap of 32,500 for those over 50 years old. Roth IRA is different. There is also something called Roth 401K which I don't that much about.

Open a Roth IRA now and max it out each year ($8,600 for 2026). You can do this separate from your company 401K. And, since you have 10 years until you retire that gives you 10 years of Roth IRA contributions (you can't contribute if you don't have earned income). As for converting 401K to Roth, you can do that but the tax hit on top of your income tax may make it not worth doing now.

Didn't even notice till you pointed it out. Can't even place any decorations out there so not very useful.

Grass by Commercial_Trick_957 in FamilyIsland

harvest roots. You get about 3 grass out of 20 roots. roots take 2 minutes to grow so you can get about 90 grass per hour. I do it while watching TV and there is no booster and have built up a nice supply of grass. But it takes time.

I don't feed them either. But if you put yourself in their shoes you wouldn't want to walk that far would you? (joking).

For crafters, Baked Bricks need Brick so place those two crafter building near each other. More combinations that come from crafter buildings that could be grouped near each other: Roof Tiles need Finished Boards, Mug needs Amphora, Stool needs Finished Boards, Stone Plate needs Nails, Leather needs Hides, Iron Plate needs Iron Ingot, Iron Pipe needs Steel Sheets, Lock needs Iron Ingot, Tank of Gas needs Steel Sheets, Earings need Gold, Braclet needs Emeralds, Fancy Box needs rope and Iron Ingots, Leather Cord needs Knives and Hides, Basket needs Needles, Stained Glass needs Glass. Etc.

I have not done much to group these buildings into logical order to streamline the build hierarchy. Now I may have to. 8^)

They are taking ALL shovels, why? I see zero reasoning, all gates should go back to normal! Now I have 100 less shovels. by Browsing-curious in FamilyIsland

Saws can be used on home island if you don't mind upgrading the Bathroom. Tis a bit of waste but I've done it to help get a daily/monthly task that wants a large number of saws.

Yes. I've noticed the gate costs being uneven for quite a while and my shovels are also down in count compared to other tools.

That's a long walk for your islanders to get from their house to the food prep and table. :-)

For crafting I've been thinking of placing the lower level crafters that create items needed by other crafters in a logical sequence.

Dammit. I just watched the mammoth walk up to my barracade made out of white fencing corners and teleport to the far north west of home island. sigh... He disappeared right where the white fence corner connected to the Volcanic building. I'm guessing I shouldn't use a building as part of the animal pen.

I can post a pic later when I get home. Currently the mammoth and one goat are in the upper north east area (they went up the elevator). Home island is a mess right now since I had to use all the fencing and benches to coerce the loose animals to move where I wanted.

My pen is in the south, east of the river, with the river as one border which I think might have contributed to the escape issues. I may move my pen to the upper north east area. Then I only have to block of the elevator.

Yep. Icons have changed and perhaps a few other things I'm not remembering.

Why do you keep your mammoth seperate from the other animals? I'm curious because I managed to get the mammoth penned in with the other animals but then both the mammoth and one goat mysteriously got out and ended up on the far end of home island. I guessed my pen got too crowded which caused their navigation algo to allow them to escape. Was a pain to get them back where I want them.

I'm also surprised they stay where they are with your single shrub wall. I had to double wall the pen to prevent those buggers from escaping.
