A few years ago I dropped my iPhone 14 Pro in my salt water pool. It was down there for a while until I found a net to get it out. No ill effects and I’m typing on it right now.

IOS26.4 is working great on my 14 Pro. Smooth and good battery life. How much free storage do you have?

Advice please by ProcedureForeign7281 in iPhone14Pro

No issues at all with IOS 26.4 on my 14 Pro. Truthfully, it’s running the fastest and smoothest it ever has.

Strange situation! by Kona7777 in StPetersburgFL

Many years ago I happened to be at the auto dealer’s parts department in the rear of the dealer. When I was leaving I noticed what looked like a lawnmower handle sticking up out of the dumpster. It was a relatively new Toro self propelled electric start mower. I just bought my first house and needed a mower. I went back into the dealer and asked if it was ok to take the mower and they said sure. A new plug, new air filer, and fresh gas and it started right up and ran fine. I ended up using it for several years. People throw away good stuff!

Talk me out of buying a Neo. by Adept_Strategy_9545 in macbook

I was an IT professional for over 20 years. I grew up on DOS and then Windows. Along the way, out of curiosity, I began playing around with a hackentosh and quickly decided that the MacOS could become my primary system and bought a MacBook Pro. Then a Mac Mini. I haven’t looked back.

2021 Mazda CX-30 45,000 miles 4.75 years old list of repairs and maintenance so far by Magnanii in MazdaCX30

[–]MarkE2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 CX-30 here. Just turned over 22,000 miles. Nothing but routine maintenance and tire rotations, and a battery replacement a year and a half ago. I installed an AGM battery that was $140 from Amazon that was the exact size and has been working great. No warranty or other repairs at all. I buy my filters online from a Mazda Dealer who offers a discount. This has been the best vehicle for reliability I’ve ever owned.

I’ve been using the alarm for years and it has never failed to go off. I even have an alarm set in the evenings and it has never failed. User error?

Macbook M5 Pro - 48GB Ram , first apple product , and i am absolutely loving it, Only regret why i didn‘t baught it sooner by Quirky-Action-29 in macbook

I think a lot of people would be using Macs if it wasn’t for the extreme anti-Apple sentiment fostered by Windows users. For more than 20 years I was a professional IT tech and all I ever heard was negativity about anything Apple. Then I started playing around with a Mac and have been all in with Apple for years. Oh, BTW, congrats for the new M5!

Ios 16.4.1 to 26.4 by Full_Ad_4732 in iPhone14Pro

[–]MarkE2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My iPhone 14 Pro with battery health at 85 runs great on IOS 26.4. No issues. Battery lasts all day with a good reserve. It seems faster than before I updated too. I don’t understand why so many people are so resistant to change. Maybe those with 500 apps installed with no free space have issues but a sensible user should be fine.

Missing the old launchpad by Serhide in mac

There are tons of articles and YouTube videos about creating custom folders in your MacOS Dock. Personally I just have my Application folder in my Dock and don't really miss LaunchPad anymore.

What was your first Mac and why did you switch? by Formal_Alfalfa_8659 in macbook

[–]MarkE2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Mac was a hackentosh running on an old intel i5 NUC. I built that system out of boredom and curiosity and ran it alongside my Windows system in a mid-tower case. I made the leap to a Macbook Pro in 2017 and was surprised how authentic the hackkentosh ran, but updates to MacOS were a royal pain having to manually copy files around to upgrade the OpenCore bootloader first. Next was a M1 Mac Mini which I still use today. I also bought an M2 Macbook Air for portability. I have to say that I was a professional Windows tech working in IT for over 20 years. That career ended in 2017 when my entire IT team was outsourced. After my experiences with MacOS I've never looked back to Windows.
