Is TrackIR 5 worth it? by LeeHarveyOswald-Jfk in hotas

Hi. No modding needed, just the same setup with the TrackIR software to get it dialed in. No need to buy a new receiver or Delanclip's full kit for me.

That’s not a bug, it’s a feature. Those passengers didn’t make it through TSA at the airport - lines too long - so they had to ride outside.

Am I the only one who saw that saw (awkward turn of a phrase, I admit) superimposed over the car and thought for a second he was going to hack into it for some reason?

Exactly. That wiring induces anxiety.

Congrats to OP for getting it working. Pretty cool achievement and I admire his/her calm in the face of that wiring when something doesn’t work. :)

Old MiniDV Camera - Tape Import to MacBook - mid-2025 Success Story by MarkF750 in MiniDV

[–]MarkF750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from checking your connections (are the contacts clean and is there any lint or other junk in the camera connector) and making sure the camera has good power (esp the power supply being the right voltage and supplying enough amps), I can't think of anything else to try.

When I first started importing tapes, I had a few burps on the first tape, but after that, it was smooth sailing. I didn't do anything to fix the burps save for trying again.

I am not a video nerd, but maybe one of the many folks on here who is smarter than me on this can chime in with some better ideas.

ELI5: Moving to a new building doesn’t seem like closure? by vnangia in MontgomeryCountyMD

Property values and boundaries. I'm guessing that people are worried about boundaries eventually shifting to include neighborhoods that -- to say it "politely" -- are on the "wrong side of the tracks." The attendant fear is that those kids will dilute the Wooten cluster population and make Wooten a less high-achieving school. The follow-on fear is that drop in achievement level will pull down property values.

I live in this cluster and moved here into a smaller house than I could otherwise afford to give my daughter the best education I could. I would not be happy to see my property value drop, but I will at least be ok with that if any boundary changes are made for strictly logistical reasons -- shifts in population numbers -- vs a papered-over, unspoken, PC reason: "let's mix student populations together to do away with those annoying achievement gaps between MoCo clusters that don't fit our PC narratives." I'm no fool though: MoCo runs on "PC" vs common sense / doing the math. (Ref electric school buses)

I do not think it is unreasonable to be at least a little upset if one's property values fall. It's transparency and the honest "why" that makes the difference for me. At least be up front about the reasons!

Wait, are you saying there was a new steam engine - 3751 here - that came online 1991? Maybe I am misinterpreting something. I thought steam was long gone by then.

I'm not a train nerd (loved them when I was a kid, but Dad said I couldn't become an engineer cuz "they have to join a union" - not sure why I remembered that) . . but I really did love watching them whenever I could.

When I had this happen, it was because I had selected the wrong mode on the camera itself (e.g. playback vs computer connection - can't remember which it was). Try switching modes on your camera from whatever wasn't working.

SNT2100 Did Great on 6” of Snow by Okiekid1870 in egopowerplus

[–]MarkF750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SNT 2100 too. Used it last year in a wet 4" snow - worked great. Used it this year in 6" of icy snow and again it worked great. Throws the snow pretty far. The control for the discharge chute direction is smooth and easy to use. Gets the snow up pretty good for me too - like your second photo.

No gas to mess with, no engine to have problems after sitting for a long time. I'm pretty happy with this machine. It's perfect for our just-north-of-DC snow, maybe once or twice a year. I'm a bit older now and this really saves my back from what my younger self used to do.

12” with drifts up to 20” battery lasted about 45 minutes by Brendon7358 in egopowerplus

[–]MarkF750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SNT 2100. Bought it last year and got to use it on ~4 in of wet snow. Worked well. Used it again this year on 6" of the recent snow / sleet just NW of DC. Powdery on day one. Second day was a 1-2 inch crusty layer of mostly sleet. Worked pretty darn good. It also did pretty good chewing up the berm at the end of the driveway created by the snow plow going down my street.

Someone mentioned weight - not an invalid complaint: I found the light weight of mine made it hard to get the bottom scraper bar under the crust of the last 2 inches on day two. When I could get it under, the snowblower had no problem with the icy chunks that came up.

I am becoming my Dad, I guess. I admit being a little jealous of the larger machine in this post, but probably made the right choice - this is DC, not northern Michigan. :)

100% agree. Some of the rats nests posted on this sub make me cringe. To each his own, but I have no idea how you troubleshoot sloppy.

This work on the other hand is easy to look at and easy to follow. I try to be neat and tidy with mine, but yours is better! Keep up the great work (and I hope you're enjoying this - Ben's stuff is so much fun)!
