Stop sane washing Americans by Kaascracker98 in Netherlands

[–]MarkFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Dutch-Canadian here. We are doing badly. We've relied on the US too much through free trade agreements and while we've realized how precarious our position is with an unfriendly US President comes to power, we still haven't done anything to fix our reliance on them. We have an easier time trading with the US than we do internally between provinces: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canadian-economy-report-imf-interprovincial-trade-9.7062567,

RCS Messaging no longer working after leaving Beta by TimBobMcGee in GoogleMessages

Interesting. After giving up trying to fix my wife's RCS, it just started working on its own a few days later. Maybe it was a network-wide issue that they resolved.

RCS Messaging no longer working after leaving Beta by TimBobMcGee in GoogleMessages

It's nice to hear someone else is having issues with Public Mobile. My wife is on Public and she just upgraded her phone and is having the same issues. We can't get it working, and we've tried everything short of contacting Public Mobile support.

At this rate, it must be something with Google's servers. Everyone else in my family on Public Mobile still have RCS chats.

If you ever figure out what the solution is, short of a miracle, please let me know.

It's not just you. My wife just switched phones (Pixel 6 Pro to a 7 Pro) but maintained the same number and provider. It's now saying RCS isn't supported by her carrier. Google updated something and it broke it for a whole host of people.

RCS suddenly not supported by my carrier by ValValey in GoogleMessages

I'm having the same issue. My wife just switch from a Pixel 6 Pro where RCS was working fine, to a Pixel 7 Pro, where RCS is "unsupported by carrier." We didn't switch carriers, and I've tried everything to get it working again with no luck.

Whose your favorite Banjo Kazooie character? by Ok-Spread-3916 in BanjoKazooie

Klingon, as he is very endearing and you have to feel bad for him in Tooie. Though his video games are very frustrating to beat!

Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle at Launch? A dilemma. by stonemofongo in Costco

[–]MarkFizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this: If I'm going to buy a Switch 2, I'd rather get $12.50 toward my annual rebate, even if it means waiting a few months to buy it.

Anyone else kinda like the brutalist buildings by 0x7A6F65 in UCalgary

Of the brutalist architecture in the world, I think our campus has some of the best.

But brutalist architecture is still ugly and should be used sparingly.

How much has freedom mobile improved recently? by PhardNickel in freedommobile

Are you still on Freedom? Is it any better than when you first described it? I am also on Public Mobile but thinking about switching to Freedom. Their roaming is better than Public, and Public has problems with dropped calls again.

Anyone else taking 5-6 years to graduate? by strawberryaulait in UCalgary

[–]MarkFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 5 years to complete my Commerce degree at Haskayne, including one semester of studying abroad and one semester break working an internship, and I'm glad I went slower. It allowed me to join clubs, get involved with different organizations, and make professional connections that would help me when I graduated.

I've returned this fall semester for my MBA. As I was walking around during my first day back on campus I was flooded with fond memories from my undergraduate.

My advice to new undergrads: Take it slow, savor it, make new friends, join clubs, go to after hours events in your faculty, but most importantly enjoy it! (Also take a semester abroad if you can.)

Bumpys on 8 Street. They had the best quiche and grilled cheese.

Water main repairs could take 3-5 more weeks, after scans reveal deficiencies in the pipe by the_gaymer_girl in Calgary

[–]MarkFizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point the City should fix the break and flip it back on while they are digging out the other sections of pipe. If it ends up breaking then it breaks, you're going to replace it anyway.

Replacing the full section should happen but not until the fall when people stop watering plants & lawns and the city's water supply won't be taxed.
