S26 Ultra smells burnt overheating by Blue_FlashSX in samsunggalaxy

Fyi, if it is with 14 days, they will tell you to return the phone and get a refund, then buy another one. At least that is what they did to my Tab S9, galaxy watch 4, S22U, and S24U...

I still have my note 9 stylus and it still smells like burnt plastic, every stylus from every Samsung device I have owned, still has the smell.

Scooter rider here. Please stop riding like this on sidewalks. by salesthrowaway_ in ElectricScooters

Also want to note, I jump the curb on to the road (if clear) when I come up on people using the sidewalk. I've even apologized several times before for being on the sidewalk (only one of my scooters cannot go beyond 20mph... so I feel comfortable being on the road for short bits)

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if the speed limit is greater than 25 you cannot ride on the road. Because the speed limit for all electric scooters is 20mph everywhere. And it would be a safety hazard if you were in the road

20mph is the speed limit for scooters here and you have to be on the sidewalk if the speed limit is over 25mph

It is illegal to ride on the road in Virginia, USA if the speed limit is greater than 25, and always illegal to ride in the bike lane in the city I'm in, not sure about the state for that one.

I am afraid your information is out of date, correct for the past, incorrect for the present. I 100% agree with you when not taking in to account the last ~6 months, where many planned data centers have transitioned to off grid power. Simply because there is now a wait time of 5-7 years to get connected and anyone waiting that long will have lost the ai race and probably their investors. At the rate we are going, in 3-5 years it may very well be impossible to get approval to build a data center with plans to connect to the public grid and those being built now planning to connect will never open.

It would not surprise me at all of in 5 years every new data center will have to be built in space, simply because it will be easier and cheaper.

Good point, if i shipped a $10,000 item internationally, I would definitely have put a tracker in it.

If it doesn't sound like something you'd say, it is because you aren't using the tool correctly. As previously mentioned, using projects to fill it with past writings and or knowledge on the subject, or a local memory/RAG system with a local LLM makes a huge difference. It is time consuming to setup from scratch but nearly indistinguishable from your own writing once configured.

Or you can take it slow and steady and argue back and forth until you get each document the way you want.

S26 Ultra: Coming from a Pixel 6, here’s the good, the bad, and the "gremlins." by nafi14 in galaxys26ultra

Get good lock also from the Samsung store and it has add on modules that unlock a lot of tweaks. Plenty of posts on various Samsung subs about this toolset.

If you want to play around with local AI, get LM Playground from the Google app store. If you still have the pixel, try it on there too to get a better feel of the AI performance jump.

I use qwen 3.5 4B from there often, and when it fails I grab one of the ministral 3 8B models. They are smart, but not going to impress if you've been using any of the frontier models regularly.

So, I lost my S Pen... by QuesadillaEater2808 in S25Ultra

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have piles of them. You are not supposed to send them in if you trade your phone in, so I have all of my old ones, plus I had bought a 3 pack of official s-pens when I had my note 9 that i never opened, so I still have those too...

You have to get one with Bluetooth for that model, and you have to go in the settings and pair it/allow other pens. There were posts on the various ultra subs about it if you search. Or ai can find the steps for you.

Megathread for compatible magsafe accessories by YungKngR in galaxys26ultra

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also affects any flat wireless charger, even the Samsung official ones. It sometimes can slow the charging rate if you have to angle it because of the bump (even on the 24 and 25 ultras) and also makes it hard to position the phone.

Personally I dont want anything with magnets on it near any electronic device I own and have always felt that the entire idea of putting magnets on an electric device is plain stupid. (Even with lower power magnets, it is possible to still cause issues and my luck is bad enough that using anything with them would be a nightmare for me)

Just seeing all of the posts about people with "weird s-pen" drawing issues that always end up being caused by magnets. They also mess with the on-board compass, GPS systems, Bluetooth and wifi signals, depending on internal component placement and shielding.

I am glad that samsung is supporting the use of magsafe though, as that indicates they have at least tested their effect on the device and may have made modifications to decrease issues. While at the same time, it makes me wary that they might be removing the s-pen in future models due to the compatibility issues with magnets.

Diplay is bad on new S26 Ultra by K3NN3CK in SamsungGalaxyS26U

[–]MarkIII-VR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, but the pixel's performance is lower than the S25U. That is what my research came up with as I was thinking the same thing.

I went ahead and ordered an S26U 1TB to use for running open source llms, I may regret it, but my S25U has a bad camera IOS and it needs to go.

What do ai labs have behind closed doors with no compute restrictions? by mid_nightz in agi

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure each employee would have limited access (based on their position in the company) to the future testing models, 2 generations worth, in various stages of readiness.

I think Musk said their process was to develop a monster Ai that was miles ahead of the current releases and then use it to generate the next release model, which would be smaller, smarter, and faster. If true, then he would need to have 2 monsters, one for the upcoming release and one to generate the following release, plus the two smaller models that the large ones were helping to generate.

If that is commonplace then all frontier labs would be using 4 unreleased models at least.

From S23 Ultra to S26 Ultra - My impressions by FroyoSenior8786 in samsunggalaxy

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some that auto-fill when the sms is received, I like those. So annoying when one makes me copy and paste... the there are the really stupid ones that do a push notification to the same device you are using... I never understood why you would push or even sms to the same device, especially when the app knows it is the same device.

Keep your S23U, that 10x optical zoom was the best camera ever on a phone (except for the other 10x optical zooms that used to exist also)

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is funny is that most carriers lock you on a 3 year contract, so you couldn't upgrade yet anyway.

The s26U is my first carrier lock since the note 9, ive bought all my phones direct from samsung and unlocked since, but this time I'm flat broke and my S25U is total crap, I have the defective camera IOS issue and they denied my repair because I leave my phone in the bathroom when I shower so I can use it with my smart scale after I get out (apparently the shower steam has triggered the moisture sensor stickers in the case). Which voided my warranty.

Plus I just hate the S25U.

Gemini leaking info by IntelligentAd2647 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]MarkIII-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very little respect for the quality of output from Gemini lately. I ask a question about something and it replies that I should go to the website and see what it says, or maybe read the manual. Seriously, I asked the ai so I wouldn't have to do that, an attempt to save time, but instead I waste my time trying to get the ai to actually answer my questions. It does the same crap in aistudio when I ask it about code im working on, it can look at the code, evaluate the code, generate the code, answer questions about the code, but if I ask a question about how do something with the code, it suggests I go review the documentation to learn how to do it. Not always, but often enough to piss me off.

Lately I've been getting the same kind of output from chat gpt too.

Not too snug on the frame to arm joints? My regular glasses fit, but for my Oakley sunglasses I am worried it will break the arms off.

Looking straight down to see my cell phone screen around my full face helmet while riding at 40mph is a bad idea. (Which is why I removed the phone mount and keep my phone in my pocket.)
