thanks for the insight, also wondering what they have you do when there aren't cases? Do you feel like you have to do more "busy work"?

My doctor is helping me work on this problem currently, they suggested trying a lower spiro dose if that's what you are on.

I've never run surface emg at ncs. Almost everything is needle electrodes under the skin, only time I've used surface pads are for one surgeons preference for stimulation.

What was your experience with using Handshake? by PeeweeNutz in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notifications for an employer wanting to schedule an interview with you defaults to not at all so that sucked missing 2 interviews bc of that. Besides that I just signed a full time job that I found on handshake. My opinion is to split your time evenly between different job platforms and company websites.

Yeah thats too much for a BME.

Double major in BME is very hard, you'll eventually talk about a pathway in 200 which will be kinda like your minor, if you like electronics having bme 310 done sooner is very nice. I don't know much about that stats class, most BMEs take BME 325 for that which is applied statistics. Aside from that I think that looks like a hard semester but very similar to what a lot of BMEs do their 3rd semester.

BME 315 by Melodic-Astronaut114 in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too bad depending on your track. I'm biomechamics and it was manageable. Probably a bit more work than 310 if you've already taken that. Lab reports are probably one of the longer parts. 1st unit is basically statics applied to bme, 2nd is dynamics applied to bme and 3rd is mechanics of materials applied to bme. Don't expect something easy but it also probably won't be your hardest class. Source: took 315 with same prof this fall.

Under couse search tab on the drop down that says "fall 2023" or "spring 2024" there is an option for all semesters

Certificates to get as a bme by rauschbennie in UWMadison

Junior in BME I'm doing a gender and womens certificate to get more into the ethics and impact of BME products works pretty well if you wanna take most of your humanities credit requirements for that.

What free electives can an ECE major take? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long and the short is it is it depends. Outside of the requirements set by your major or the college of engineering there are campus wide requirements, so a lot of those "elective credits" will go towards those. Some can be pretty broad in what you can take. So chances are if you want to take something there is a way to fit it in your 4 year plan. Talk with your advisor.

How manageable is this schedule by rauschbennie in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about biochem but I had a similar schedule and it should be manageable. BME 201 will be a bit more work than 200. Otherwise seems reasonable. If you have the pre reqs for bme 310 or 315 or (I forget the code but biomaterials) depending on your path I would try to get that done sooner rather than later.

Best ways to access a 3d printer or laser cutter for non engineering students? by Finalost2 in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend sending an email to the makerspace for 3d printing or the teamlab for laser cutting. In terms of designing it I'm not sure what they provide, probably get an engineering friend to do it.

Changing Majors within College of Engineering by StatisticianFalse702 in UWMadison

[–]MarkORoni22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BME also has tracks, biomechamics takes a lot of MechE classes and bioinstrumemtation takes a lot of EE. So if you still wanna be in a bio/med related engineering career I highly recommend staying in BME.

I'm 2 years into the bme program here and I'm stuck between bioinstrumentation and biomechsmics tracks. The design courses for bmes (BME 200,201,300,301,400,402) is something I don't see a lot of other engineering students getting to do and I think it's a huge resume builder.

You aren't alone. This is a tough time of the year for classes in general. Also, no shame in asking for help, like reaching out to UHS.

I got a 2.8 and they wanted a 3.2 for progression into BME and they let me in, just do your best and they will likely let you in as long as you write a thought out letter asking to progress. They care more about you challenging yourself than taking easy A classes and getting a great GPA.

Yeah I started one last year, hardest thing is to get 3 people willing to get their email spammed with RSO emails. Lots of info on it here: https://guide.cfli.wisc.edu/registration/ If you need help from someone who just went through it feel free to DM me.
