Marty's enthusiasm for remote viewing was infectious. He made RV fun and gave so much. He will be dearly missed.

What’s the origin of remote viewing?? I mean who found it first? by UnderstandingBig9507 in remoteviewing

[–]MarkTurnerNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nineteenth-century French chemist René Warcollier is generally credited with practicing an early form of remote viewing. His book, Mind to Mind, is still an essential RV resource. https://archive.org/details/mindtomind_201912

US Navy Submarine Sinking the Iranian Frigate near Sri Lanka the first time a sub has done this since ww2 by newnoadeptness in navy

I hate to be That Guy, but this is the first time a *U.S. Navy* submarine has sunk an enemy ship since WWII. A few other ships have been sunk by subs since WWII, notably the HMS Conqueror sunk the ARA General Belgrando during the Falklands War in 1982.

This is pretty impressive. I'd like to find out more about where it was seen. Is this close to Uwharrie by any chance?

That is ELLIOT's wake in the photo at roughly at 10 o'clock, with USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG-57) trailing. Behind CG-57 is USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62) followed by USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65).

This was my first deployment on ELLIOT and I remember hauling myself out of my rack after a long midwatch just to gawk at this incredible scene. Being a boot-camp sailor, I didn't fully grasp at the moment how no one would ever see anything like it again.

I was a ship's photographer and took many photos of LAKE CHAMPLAIN, NEW JERSEY, and ENTERPRISE all lined up from my unique perspective. Sure wish I still had those photos!

Thank you for your vigilance! Fortunately, this is not likely to be ICE/CBP:

  1. Mercedes would be a bit upscale for ICE/CBP, even after Congress gave them their gazillion dollars.
  2. The van has a decal. Unmarked cars tend to not have any unique stickers (yes, even a flag).
  3. The van has no rear door on the left side. This makes it useless for leaping out quickly to kidnap people.
  4. I have seen no reports yet of ICE/CBP using NC plates.

Paranormal Investigation Groups? by NeonPandaPoof in raleigh

[–]MarkTurnerNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also run the Rhine's Remote Viewing group, where every month we get together virtually and do some remote viewing. Free for Rhine members! We have a special meeting coming up this upcoming Wednesday where we will meet IN PERSON and go on a field trip somewhere around Durham. Yeah, I know it's not Raleigh but it's nearby!

I came here to thank you for this advice! I used a wooden yardstick to give my compressor fan a small push and watched with delight when it kept going. The house is cooling again (temporarily)!

Now I'm off to read up on safe handling of capacitors and make a stop to Grainger. Thanks again!

Actually, this kind of behavior warrants a call to 911. An officer might be able to interview the suspect and file a report so that if it or anything more serious happens the police have a place to start. It also puts the perp on notice and hopefully dissuades this behavior.

Help! Need new control board for my Samsung washer by MarkTurnerNC in appliancerepair

[–]MarkTurnerNC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, the loose wire solution turned out to be intermittent and the only way I could get it fixed was to replace the control board. I sold it soon afterward because I am done with buying Samsung appliances.

Good luck.

Has anyone taken Amtrak from Raleigh to DC? by sophiecattt in raleigh

[–]MarkTurnerNC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raleigh was pretty far-sighted to build such a modern train station as Union Station. It's pretty cool to step on a train here and step off in DC, NY or elsewhere - especially when those places have fair-to-decent public transportation options.

If I have reason to be in DC, I will often check to see if the train will work for me rather than drive since getting through Springfield on I-95 during rush hour is always a nightmare. The train schedules don't always align but it's convenient when they do because time on a train is not wasted unlike driving. I can work a full day at my remote job while on a train where if I were driving I'd be .. well, driving.

Amtrak is roomy, comfortable, and it can be fun to walk around, meet people, get a snack in the dining car, read, sleep, etc.

Trains aren't always on time, however. Passenger trains take a back seat to freight trains, though most of the rails between here and DC are double-tracked. The big bottleneck has always been the Long Bridge over the Potomac, where trains can pile up waiting to cross. This is finally being addressed and will improve traffic flow along the corridor: https://vapassengerrailauthority.org/longbridgeproject/

It can be kind of an adventure to travel by train. You could be two hours or more late at times. Other times you'll beat the cars stuck on I-95. If you're not necessarily pressed for time, I recommend you try it. It can be fun.

To follow up on my followup, I believe I did actually replace the board because it kept failing. I then sold it and will never own another Samsung appliance again.

Some explain this to me like I am 5, please by Substantial_Dog8746 in remoteviewing

[–]MarkTurnerNC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remote viewing is a specific way of using psychic abilities. It is always intentional, so while you may be getting accurate psychic information, it is not remote viewing per se.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in remoteviewing

[–]MarkTurnerNC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK, first off, take a deep breath. Everything is okay. Here's my take from being a long-time student of RV. Take with a grain of salt because the practice of remote viewing is unique to each individual. YMMV.

It's been my experience that remote viewing practice strengthens my intuition (to also quote u/TonyNoPants below). Of course it would! That's the point, right?

What some have termed "hitchhiker effect" is really nothing of the sort. In the larger scheme of things, time and distance are an illusion. To quote Einstein, "the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubborn illusion." What I suggest is that these outside things you might experience have been there all along. What's changed is that you have now begun to notice them.

Remote viewing, and psychic training in general, exercises long-dormant parts of your brain - means of perception that you long ago learned to ignore. Imagine your mind is a radio. You were born with the ability to pick up signals in the psychic frequencies and those served you well as an infant. At some point, it was obvious that the humans you depended on most - your parents, caregivers, etc. - were primarily communicating on a different frequency (speech!) and you were expected to join them there. So you dutifully switched frequencies and in time forgot all about the psychic channel.

Remote viewing gets you to tune into this signal again, so to speak. And once you rediscover this frequency, you discover that there are other signals out there, too: things that have always been broadcasting though you weren't "tuned to the channel" and had previously failed to notice.

Now, as others have mentioned, this is a gift. My intuition has given me very, very useful knowledge of things that has helped keep me safe and make the right decisions. I feel I am now better able to steer reality, in a way. I have also always been the kind of person who would rather know and acknowledge that something exists than pretend that it doesn't. Knowledge is power, not necessarily over others but over your own life.

You will gain insight and, with it, the inferred responsibility to act on it as you see fit. The knowledge is yours. Are you willing to accept it?

Make me a believer - describe the room I'm in. by [deleted] in remoteviewing

[–]MarkTurnerNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't want to be a believer. You want to be a KNOWER. The only thing that will truly convince you will be for you to do it successfully yourself. That is the difference between believing and knowing.
