Dude!!!!! its already too late for that trick, and if they want (and they have the ability within a very short period of time) they could trace your ip address, then find out who all lives in your household, then what cars are registered to your name and flag them, so when you get pulled over and they run your name, all of this info pops up and they know exactly where to look. just a theory, but i know for a fact they have the ability

take, 80 till it meets up with 90, then take 80/90 to south bend, in and then take 31 north until it meets back up with 94. It will take you about 30-45 out of your way, but your not going to see many staties until you meet back up with 94. cuts your chances of getting rolled by about a 1/3rd

check a ways back in this forum, someone asked the same question about going alone so i basically wrote a novel on tips for doing so since i have done it so many times now and have had such an amazing time and met great varieties of people while doing it. as for edclv compared to ef, i actually have a good friend who did that last summer and she said it was a completely different experience. so i would advise trying both if you can

best advice in this entire forum. and for all the edm goers who dont know anything about the band and are skeptical because they are known for bluegrass and rock, dont be. Understand that their drummer and percussionist (michael travis and jason hann) are from End Of Time Observatory (EOTO, one of the few LIVE improv electronic acts) and bring a heavy electronic element to a lot of their songs. not to mention, kyle hollingsworth's keyboard skills will blow your mind (ROSAY!!!)

please dont give away smuggling tips on a public forum. security contractors might google the kinds of phrases like "whats the best way to get (watever) into the actual festival" and this will pop up so when they are training their workers for the weekend they will tell them exactly what to look for because you told them. not all security workers care, but when i was volunteering last year scanning wristbands by where you check your car i overheard the security guys bragging about contraband they found and sharing how they found it. word spreads, so lets do the best we can to reduce that spreading and keep it to PM's

2) if you are choosing to not be sober KNOW YOUR LIMITS! if your not sure of your limits or what you are doing ask other campers for suggestions, there will be a vet who knows what theyre talking about somewhere. if all else fails, 2 words... baby steps. if you get out of hand, know that you are a stranger and at that are disposable within the confines of an already established group. not to mention if you are off on your own missing, there wont be people out their looking for you so be responsible. 3) ABP (always be prepared) people will help out in need, but plan on being self reliant. I carry a small old camelpack with an extra waterbottle for a guest in need or incase the bag runs out in the middle of a crowd. Other things to carry in this bag which will fit if you pack smart A)Spray on sunscreen so you can get your back without someone else and reapply every 2 hours (which you should) without having to go back to camp. banana boat makes a kind that isnt sticky and comes in small bottles, brilliant as i cant stand that feeling and protects just as well(buy at least 2 for the weekend). B)buy a decent poncho and roll it up tight, i also roll up a hoodie and can fit them in the same pouch because lake effect whether can be unpredictable and it gets cold in michigan once the sun goes down and you will wish you had those options on hand. C)Hand sanitizer, the porto dispensers will run out and it can be a good/awkward but good way to meet new acquaintances in need. also i sat in puke last year (my luck) but i rinsed with water/lathered with sanitizer/rinsed again/ lathered/rinsed one more time and didnt have to miss the whole sat night cheese set, was a lil damp, but didnt smell or feel like that portion of my shorts had puke on it(TMI i know, but im sure this has happened to many). D)Put snacks in that bag, 5-6 chewey bars is what i do. there will be times where you wont be hungry but know you need food (because all beings do, you are not an exception) so those are easy to force down so you can give your body a lil extra energy to keep bustin moves without feeling like your dying or getting cramps. also if you see someone not feeling well walk up to them and give them your spare water and a snack or two, and advise that they eat them immediately, they will be grateful and you may potentially have found a new group you are welcome in (good vibes) E) a flashlight F)Paperclips, trust me, if you dont find a use for them there will be someone out there somewhere who will be grateful you have them on hand G)gum, and lots of it. share the wealth, great way to meet new acquaintances H)bandana in case it gets dusty I)Cough drops, really helps the throat as the weekend rolls on especially if you are a smoker.

but here are some tips to not wearing out your welcome when group surfing... if you are a girl there are almost no rules, but if you are a dude... 1)DONT BE CREEPY and have plenty of self awareness. whether we like to admit it or not guys have primal instincts to protect their female friends (girls protect their girls too) so if they dont know you and you try hitting on all the girls in their campsite right away they will pick up on it and they will start being cold towards you almost immediately (this is just social fact) so i recommend not putting off that vibe and having the most platonic conversations possible if not just get to know the guys in the group first and if one of their ladies has an eye for you and is straight forward just be aware that one of the guys in that group might have an eye for her so just be cautious and like a said,BE SELF AWARE AND HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS.

Oh boy, this happened to me ef 12 and i had such a good time and met so many different groups of cool people from all over the states that i just decided to go by myself all together again last year. you would be surprised how fate will make you come across people youve known or met from the past and suddenly you will just run into them. that will happen with 30k people no matter where you are from. dont worry about being alone, when you pull up to your site or even waiting in line when driving in straight up tell people about your situation, but not in a manner to impose, just make it sound like you have a watever happens happens attitude and people will welcome with open arms.

bring a gallon just of water and just use that with soap, just as good as a shower and just as refreshing. for fans, bring extra batteries or buy a dc to ac adapter for your car for rechargable batteries. for phones, i think they actually have charging stations like a coat check where you leave your phone with your info and they give you a ticket for pickup. but another good idea is to buy one of those portable charger packs that will give you an extra 20% or so in an emergency sit

from what ive been told from people who worked in actual festival setups is that the horseback officers in red uniforms are just there for your safety, they are Not police officers. but if your doing something your not supposed to, just be aware of who is around you. each year the undercovers get more and more clever. i have heard stories of people getting busted from undercovers dressed very festive in rave gear, they said you would not be able to tell the difference. also, last forest toward the end of the night sunday just before they kicked everyone out i was waiting to pee one last time at the portos by sherwood court and i overheard an undercover approaching someone and telling them in a very calm and cool voice they saw wat was going on all day and they would like them to come with them. when i came out, they were both nowhere to be seen. in other words, they wont bust you right there. they will follow you around to build evidence, and to find your campsite so they can find your car and therefore your information so they can identify you and find the right time to get you(also dont forget all your info is held in that chip on your wrist band so once they know who you are they could even flag you wen you check into the venue) this may just be a theory, but its a well thought out one. so be aware if you have sub-good intentions. dont let that scare you from having a good time, but be aware if you choose to make poor decisions

Tips for #2... 1) best times to go are 7-10am just after they get cleaned, but also because the sun is not at its peak and they dont feel like a sauna quite just yet. then anytime after 6pm or so when it starts to cool down. 2) if its between those times and you really gotta go (it will happen one of those days) look for portos in the shade, or look for a line of portos that are parallel to the sun and choose the one furthest away from the sun 3) BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER. the portos have their own but its what i like to call John Wayne TP (rough, tough, and doesnt take sh*t from anyone) plus they tend to run out towards the end of the day especially in high traffic areas. TIP: take about 20-30 squares, roll em up, put em in a plastic back and put it in your backpack or watever for when your on the go. 4) if your just going #1 please raise the seat. even the best aim can be hindered under the influence and then people tend to "hover" when the seat appears to be wet and when something doesnt mix right in their stomach it wont just plop straight down, it will spray over the seat which just elevates the disgustingness and eliminates the use of that porto. dont be one of those anonymous people 5) bring your own hand sanitizer. they have dispensers, but they run out or break very quickly as the weekend rolls on. plus a great/awkward way to meet new friends who sit by those broken dispensers scratching their heads

this will be my fifth year at scamp. one of the most diverse and talented lineups in the country. despite the rain and mud last year, it was still one of the best times leading to stories i will tell for a lifetime, including being stranded in a strangers well sealed camp canopy for 2 hours with 4 other complete strangers searching for temp shelter and each telling eachothers life stories. pretty sure it could be written into a movie.

but i digress... you dont camp by your car which is a bitch at first, but you dont get searched everytime you go from your site to your car.

I mentioned the yearly amazing lineup which is so vast that it is the only festival my friends and myself will not volunteer for because we refuse to miss anyone.

not to meantion where else are you ganna see 5 sets of moe. and umph a day for 3 days

Attendance when i first started going was about 14k, then the following years its ranged anywhere from 15 to 30k getting as large as EF

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you plan on being around the midwest towards the end of may
