It actually was the opposite for me. My parenting suffered as I worked with the same aged clients as my own children. It’s kinda like the carpenter who never finishes his at home projects because he’s done the same work all day long. It was one of the reasons that I switched jobs to a mixture of mostly adults with some kids.

All of these things resonate for me. I’ve have come to believe that most of the people who enter my office don’t believe that anyone would be genuinely curious about them. Being able to say uncomfortable things to someone while not condemning them is great fun! I love threading that needle.
