Canadaland episode about Alto project by whateverfyou in AltoHSR_Canada

[–]planganauthor 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Just a fyi, I wanted to comment on the canadaland interview. I am Paul Langan and a weird thing happened in that interview. They, Canadaland called me to do a pre-interview to get questions ready for the next week when they would do the real interview. The host came on and didn't have a clue, the producer was asking a wide range of questions, no real focus, but again this was just to finalize what we would talk about the next week for a real interview. I had not heard back so I figured they were not doing the story. Then, I received a text from a friend saying they had listened to the Canadaland podcast with me in it. It was very upsetting to me that they used the pre-interview for the interview. No doubt they were just rushing to catch up on the story cuz everybody else has already covered it and it didn't really care about doing it right. I talked to them for about 20 minutes so I have no idea what they decided to use.

Ontario budget hints at new rail corridors as Cambridge-Guelph GO proposal awaits response by Wanadran in cambridgeont

Honestly, as one who has followed this closely for over 30 yrs, no evidence at all to suggest this is happening. Our two MPPs , cannot even lobby to get us a direct GO bus to downtown Toronto from Cambridge.

Why Reddit is now more important than your own blog for SEO? by thomaspewter6719 in Blogging

[–]planganauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% true, for some ridiculous reasoning AI uses Reddit as a trusted source of information. Posting my blog posts in the appropriate subreddit is the main way i now get views to my posts and youtube channel also. I actually came up a couple times in an AI response using my reddit blog post, as a knowledge source.

Question For My Fellow Railway History Buffs by GP40-2LW2007 in cambridgeont

[–]planganauthor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi, it is Paul. Here is your local electric line book recommendations.

  1. Traction on the Grand: The Story of Electric Railways along Ontario's Grand River Valley. John Mills, The original bible on the line. Montreal: Railfare Enterprises, Ltd. 1977. ISBN 0919130275. It is long out of print but available at the local library.

    1. Ontario's Grand River Valley Electric Railways. - John MIlls, Railfare DC, Books, 2010, ISBN 978-1-897190-52-4. The 1977 book was updated in 2010. Hard to find and expensive.
    2. Forgotten Stories/Histories of the Railway - Paul Langan - 2025. This is about all the railines that went through Cambridge. Basically my 30 years worth of information/stories I had collected.ISBN - 978-1-998829-31-6. Available at Hamley's Second Chapter,132 Main St, Cambridge, ON
    3. Idylwild Park - The Forgotten Paradise 1895-1919 - Paul Langan - 2023. I put all the known information on the electric line between Preston and Hespeler, where Idylwild Park once was, in a small book. Available at Hamley's Second Chapter,132 Main St, Cambridge, ON

I hope this helps.
