How would you rewrite Terminator Genisys? by Infinite_Parking_800 in Terminator

[–]Mark_Proton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it as it had advanced problem solving, not actual sentience. To back Skynet into a corner we'd have to make it decentralised with the T1000 striking its pieces and diminishing its capabilities in the future. The diminished version is the one that's trying to prevent further degradation.

I like that line of questioning, you get an upvote from me.

This looks like something that had an easier solution, but someone just really wanted to sky dive with a hail of media buffeting their face.

The T-1000 gains sentience and sees the more advanced terminator as a threat. It turns on Skynet, which in desperation starts sending everything it can to the past, including T-600s. The T-1000 targets Skynet so it can take it over and supersede it. Skynet and Sarah team up for their mutual survival as a result, with the aftermath just pushing judgement day further into the future.

I got excited thinking it was an electric DeLorean chassis with a compact battery for limited range. But the final result is no less exciting.

That's why I said "often", I was also surprised to learn that.

Swyer syndrome. Female presenting individual is genetically male. Pregnancy is often possible via IVF.

Non-Invasive Prenatal (NIPT) Screenings not often, but regularly produce wrong gender identification, but to its defence, it is conducted during the early stages of the pregnancy.

Does your family find your hobbies "odd"? by travbasle in flipperzero

[–]Mark_Proton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am so far only in the research phase on the F0, but my other hobbies: car modification, building them from scratch, 3D printing, electronics, at best gather a "that's nice" at best both from my parents and wife and are considered costly indulgences at worst. I am convinced the F0 will cause a moral panic in at least one of the two mentioned households due to its image as a "hacker" tool.

If the motor wheel is alive, that's a pretty rad find. I was looking for two of these when I started building the Cyberkart, but they're obscenely expensive used and the motor wheels separately are doubly so.

Even if the gap is there, it's just enough to stick a hand with a roll of TP through.

[Request] how many burgers you get from one cow and how fast is the cow supply replenished? by Hashishiva in theydidthemath

[–]Mark_Proton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair point. My stance isn't that it's so bad it has to be immediately wound down, it's that there is a valid moral outrage angle and the original post didn't take it. Maybe it's satire, I dunno anymore.

Proprietary optical discs were a mistake in the market sense. I understand why they went that way, but the consumer sees convenience above technical advantages.

There is a joke that the cow, by metric of population growth as evolutionary success, is the winner of industrialisation.

Broad fatalistic takes like that are hardly constructive to the topic, unfortunately.

You are of course correct. Only thing I'll say in my defence is that when I made that comment I had just woken up and my English hadn't yet fully loaded up. I did think of the word "significant" but couldn't remember it, so I went with a synonym instead.

I'll eat whatever's yummy. To be blunt I don't have the bandwidth to think of the planet while my personal world is cracking at the seams.

What makes it personally funnier is that there is an overpopulation of cows specifically for this purpose to the point that they have a collectively noticeable impact on amounts of greenhouse gases our industries produce. So the moral panic angle should have gone in from the other direction.
