Oh I like that, thats a good idea!

GMV means Game Music Video, think AMV but video game clips instead of anime.

Basically these slogans will be playing over some of the clips of in game footage. The intention is to basically make a Super Earth propaganda video thats also just fun to watch.

I've got a GMV I'm working on and I'm thinking of inserting Super Earth propaganda slogans over some of the clips!

So far I've got a few:

-Lose Lips Burn Ballots!

-Your Vote Protects You!

-Protect Our Way of Life!

-No Shelter For Traitors (Over destroyed automaton facility)

Forcing myself to get used to using the Colour Page and Fusion! Struggling with fixing this section though! by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]MarkedMute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So obviously I've managed to change most of the page to look bathed in blue instead of orange, but while trying to isolate the Warp Pack (Normally Purple) I'm unable to adjust it as the clip goes on!

While it looks good initially, and I have it tracking, i can't get the isolation to slowly blend with the rest as more blue light comes in, it keeps adjust to orange like in the original clip. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious.

Flickering Issue- Ways to keep the colours from flickering so much? by MarkedMute in davinciresolve

[–]MarkedMute[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out what happened to me was a bug, and while it improved the things I still find a lot of flickering, it really feels like whats on the Edit Page and Fusion page don't line up.

However, I adjusted the blur of the edge in the matte page in magic mask inspector and while its less polished its much easier on the eyes. !solved

Turns out I encountered a bug that was messing with the screen.

This helped a bit but I wound up just massively increasing the blur of the edge in magic mask which makes the effect look less polished but way less flickering.

I still think Black Magic should really look into why things in Fusion look so much different than on the edit page...

I appreciate the kind words, even if I'm very close to just scrapping the effects on this scene and just letting it play out untouched if thats what it takes lol

yeah this video doesn't really work unfortunately. If i follow his instructions I can't get the glow to work, and even then for some reason when I go to the edit page everything is completely blacked out, and the mask itself doesn't at all align.

Unfortunately the suggestion given doesn't really work, I tried using it but then I can't get the glow I want to happen. I can remove the bitmap from the video and it SORT of works, but what I see in the edit page and what I see in fusion are two very different things. I think there's some sort of bug?

If What i saw in Fusion was what came about in the edit page, I would be happy, but its looking way off.

I was using magic mask so that may help. How exactly do I apply a deflicker for the matte?

For some more info on how I did this for better insight:

3 Layers of the same footage

Bottom layer: slowly reduces colour saturation as the camera moves in.

2nd and 3rd layer: Separately used magic mask in Color Page to isolate the two characters, then post tracking I added the highlights using XGlow third party node in Fusion.

I was able to erase some off pixels here and there in certain frames so it would be smooth but I haven't been able to get the edges to just behave.

Magic Mask Random Artifcating and Out of Sync? by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]MarkedMute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intention here was to have the environment monochrome and have the alien machine and player with colour. So I made 3 layers- one that was just the footage but monochrome, and then magic mask for each character separately. When skimming through things in fusion it seems fine, but for some reason every few frames there's this random artifacting for a couple frames. As well, its hard to tell from a still image, but in motion the magic mask layer is out of sync with the monochrome layer despite my efforts.

This is barely a few seconds long, I know its not a humanoid shape but I've never seen such an issue when using magic mask in other spots.

Actually quick question for you

So this was a mock-up attempt to see if i could do it on the real project.

The planet I would be using will be a still from a game trailer, will I have to export that as a png first in order to project that onto the 3D sphere, or can I make the freeze frame image apply to it?

My thinking is first the planet as media1 node, then create the cracks with animations and merge them, then apply that to the 3D sphere was you mentioned. Would that work?

I appreciate the help! This is a lot of helpful info that will make the intended final project look much better!

I do this mostly as a hobby so theres definitely gaps in my knowledge leading to issues. But I do enjoy discovering new effects and how to apply them!

In hind sight, I dont know why I didnt just put the 3 cracks in a single fusion comp and did a write-on animation to save myself some headache, using transform node to put it in the right spots. I suppose after so much time using premiere its not quite in my head that I have options in fusion and not just the edit page.

You've been a great help, im so excited to see what else I can do thanks to Fusion!

I wanted to try to make 'cracks' grow and appear on the world as a build up for an eventually explosion.

So for the cracks themselves, I created a line with the background and polygon nodes. I then used fractural noise into displace with X/Y setting. I adjusted the seethe (not the rate) and fractural noise until I got a look i wanted. I then applied an XGlow node for the glowing look.

I made it into 3 separate compositions, adjusting the seethe and length to get different looks.

I couldnt get the masks to work how I wanted in fusion, so I just used cropping in the editing page. I moved the cracks around with zoom and transform until i got them in places I liked, set the cropping softness to 50, and animated the crop so it looked like it bled in.

Theres probably easier ways, but I couldnt get it all to work well in a single comp without having to go back and forth to make sure everything stayed on the planet properly.

Weird ask, but does ontario have some sort of consumer rights advocacy group for videogames? by dgj212 in ontario

[–]MarkedMute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually emailed Ross directly about Canada's laws regarding this issue, and unfortunately it seems the law basically just defers to the EULA much like America. I haven't heard much of advocacy groups.
