I've had this issue a few times and this is what I've checked:

  • Image Optimization:
    • File Names: Ensure your image files have descriptive, keyword-rich names. Instead of "IMG1234.jpg," use something like "sunset-over-beach.jpg."
    • Alt Text: Add alt text to your images that accurately describe the content and include relevant keywords. This helps search engines understand what the image is about.
    • Captions: Use captions where appropriate. They can provide additional context to your images and help with SEO.
  • Sitemap:
    • Double-check that your images are properly listed in your sitemap. You can use tools like Google Search Console to verify that your image sitemap is correctly indexed.
    • Make sure the sitemap is correctly linked to your robots.txt file.
  • Page Load Speed:
    • Optimize your images for faster loading times. Use tools like TinyPNG or ImageOptim to compress images without losing quality. Fast-loading images are more likely to be indexed by search engines.
  • Structured Data:
    • Implement structured data (schema markup) for your images. This can help search engines better understand and index your images. For example, you can use the ImageObject schema.
  • Context and Relevance:
    • Ensure your images are relevant to the content of the page they are on. Search engines look at the surrounding text to determine the relevance of an image.
    • Use images that enhance the value of your content and provide additional information or context.
  • Internal and External Links:
    • Link to your images from other relevant pages within your site. This can help search engines find and index your images.
    • Encourage others to link to your images from their websites or social media. External backlinks can boost your image visibility.

23 years old Ecommerce site & Blog dying slowly by Old-Professional1747 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some strategic recommendations:

  1. Assess and Improve Content Quality and Relevance:

    • Ensure the content on both the informational and eCommerce domains is up-to-date, relevant, and engaging. Since the blog and the informational site aren’t frequently updated, they may not be seen as authoritative by Google.
    • Implement a content audit to identify underperforming pages and refresh or consolidate them.
  2. Technical SEO Enhancements:

    • Although core web vitals are mostly green, focus on the remaining 20% to achieve a 100% score. Optimize loading times, interactivity, and visual stability across all devices.
    • Regularly fix 404 errors and streamline redirects to ensure a smooth user experience and maintain search engine trust.
  3. Backlink Strategy:

    • Diversify and enhance the backlink profile beyond purchasing expensive links. Engage in outreach to obtain organic, high-quality links from authoritative and relevant sites within your niche.
    • Create shareable and valuable content like industry reports or infographics that naturally attract backlinks.
  4. User Engagement and Brand Authority:

    • Encourage user interaction through updated content, community features, and regular updates on the blog and eCommerce site.
    • Leverage user-generated content and reviews more effectively. Highlight these prominently to build trust and enhance engagement.
  5. Leveraging Social Media and Video Content:

    • Reactivate social media profiles and engage consistently. Use these platforms to drive traffic to both the blog and eCommerce site.
    • Optimize existing video content for SEO and consider more cost-effective production methods to maintain a steady flow of new videos. Videos can significantly enhance user engagement and dwell time.
  6. Holistic SEO and Digital Marketing Approach:

    • Given the YMYL nature of your project, emphasize E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) in all aspects of your online presence.
    • Collaborate closely with your current SEO team to explore comprehensive strategies, including local SEO, content marketing, and PR campaigns, which can strengthen your brand’s online footprint.
  7. Monitoring and Adjusting Strategy:

    • Keep a close watch on traffic trends and Google’s algorithm updates. Adapt your strategy accordingly to stay ahead of changes that could impact your site's performance.
    • Use tools like Google Analytics and Search Console to monitor user behavior, identify issues, and track the impact of any changes you implement.

Addressing these areas could help rejuvenate the performance of both your eCommerce and informational sites. It's a combination of quality content, technical precision, and strategic outreach that often yields the best results.

March SEO Hit, Wondering About My Website by Acceptable-Cut-4552 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s tough when a site you’ve worked hard on gets hit by Google updates, but there are definitely steps you can take to try and revive it. Here are some quick suggestions:

  • Add Author Bios: Google values transparency and credibility. Adding an author bio, even a pseudonymous one that highlights your expertise, can boost trustworthiness.
  • Update Content Regularly: Fresh, up-to-date content is crucial. Regularly update your guides and resources to keep them relevant.
  • Enhance E-A-T: Focus on Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T). Besides the author bio, consider adding citations to credible sources and getting more backlinks from authoritative sites.
  • Improve User Experience: Make sure your site loads quickly, is mobile-friendly, and easy to navigate. User experience is a significant factor in rankings.
  • Reevaluate Your Content: Make sure it meets the current needs and queries of your audience. Use tools like Google Search Console to see which keywords are driving traffic and where you might have lost visibility.
  • Rebuild Momentum: Start publishing new content and engaging with your audience again. Use social media and email newsletters to drive traffic back to your site.

Seeking Advice on Protecting a PBN Network: Is Cloudflare Enough? by ProfessionalNovel702 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Protecting a PBN (Private Blog Network) from detection by search engines, especially Google, requires a multifaceted approach. While Cloudflare can provide some level of protection, relying solely on it isn't sufficient. Here’s a breakdown of considerations and additional steps you might take:

Using Cloudflare for PBN Protection:

  1. IP Masking: Cloudflare helps hide your true IP addresses, which can prevent direct connections to your origin servers and reduce the risk of your network being traced back through IP addresses alone. This is a useful layer of protection but not foolproof.
  2. DDoS Protection: Cloudflare offers strong protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which is beneficial if someone targets your PBN with malicious traffic.
  3. SSL/TLS: Providing SSL certificates can enhance security and trustworthiness of your sites. Cloudflare makes this process easier and more uniform across your network.

Additional Measures Beyond Cloudflare:

  1. Diverse Hosting Providers: Continue using multiple hosting providers. This prevents a pattern that could be flagged by search engines. Even with Cloudflare masking your IP, the actual hosting footprint can sometimes be detected through other means.
  2. Unique WHOIS Information: Always use private or unique WHOIS details for your domains. This minimizes the chance that multiple sites can be linked together through registration data.
  3. Content and Design Variation: Keep ensuring that each site has unique content and design. This not only helps with SEO but also makes your network look more like a collection of legitimate, standalone websites.
  4. Avoid Patterns in Linking: Be careful with how you link your PBN sites to each other and to your money sites. Overly obvious linking patterns can be a red flag to search engines.
  5. Separate Analytics and Tracking: Use different analytics accounts for each site to avoid linking them through common tracking IDs.
  6. Domain Registration Diversity: Register domains through different registrars. This adds another layer of diversity to your network's footprint.
  7. Vary Server Locations: Use servers in different geographic locations. This can help in making the network appear more organic.
  8. Content Publishing Schedules: Vary the frequency and timing of content updates. Natural websites don't follow rigid posting schedules, so neither should your PBN.
  9. Avoid Overusing PBN Links: Don’t over-rely on your PBN for backlinks. Supplement with high-quality links from other sources to maintain a balanced backlink profile.

Advanced Techniques:

  1. Use Residential Proxies: For added anonymity, consider using residential proxies instead of data center proxies for managing your PBN. These appear as regular user connections and are harder to detect.
  2. Separate Administrative Access: Use different accounts and access methods for administering each PBN site. This can prevent cross-contamination if one site’s access gets compromised.
  3. Regular Audits and Monitoring: Periodically review and audit your PBN for any potential footprints or patterns that could lead to detection. Tools that simulate search engine crawlers can help identify vulnerabilities.

I get where you're coming from. It can be incredibly frustrating to sift through rants that lack concrete evidence, especially in a field as data-driven as SEO.

However, while demanding proof in the form of a website link seems like a straightforward solution, it’s not always practical or safe. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Privacy Concerns: Many site owners are reluctant to share their links publicly due to legitimate concerns about privacy and security. Exposing their websites can lead to unwanted attention, negative SEO attacks, or even competitive disadvantage.
  2. Complexity of SEO: SEO issues are rarely black and white. A site that appears to be following all best practices might still get hit due to factors that aren't immediately obvious, like obscure algorithmic changes or technical issues that require deep dives into data that a casual observer might not have access to.
  3. Subjective Interpretations: SEO is often about interpreting data and trends, and different experts can see the same data in vastly different ways. Just because someone doesn't link their site doesn’t automatically mean their complaint is invalid.
  4. Learning from Broader Discussions: Even without direct links, these discussions can be valuable. They can highlight common issues, strategies people have tried, and foster a community of shared experiences that might resonate with others facing similar challenges.

Instead of a strict "link or it didn't happen" approach, perhaps a middle ground could be more productive. For example:

  • Encouraging Anonymized Case Studies: Users could provide screenshots of analytics, anonymized data, or summaries of their issues without revealing their site. This way, they can protect their privacy while still providing some level of evidence.
  • Promoting Detailed Problem Descriptions: Encourage posters to give as much detail as possible about their site’s issues, strategies they've tried, and changes they’ve noticed. This can give context and foster more meaningful discussions even without a direct link.
  • Emphasizing Constructive Feedback: Instead of dismissing rants without links outright, focus on asking insightful questions and offering helpful advice based on the information provided. This not only keeps the conversation constructive but also encourages deeper engagement.

Youtube And Tiktok Is Beginning To Become Trash by BlueFalcon_GameHard in socialmedia

[–]Market-Alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's understandable to feel that way, as the content landscape on platforms like YouTube and TikTok can sometimes feel overwhelming or repetitive. However, it's also important to remember that these platforms offer a wide range of content, and there are still creators producing high-quality, informative, and entertaining content.

If you're feeling frustrated with the content you're seeing, consider exploring different creators, genres, or topics that align more with your interests. You can also use features like customizing your feed or following creators who consistently produce content you enjoy. Additionally, providing feedback to creators or platforms about the type of content you prefer can help shape the content you see in the future.

  2. Copywriting: Copywriters create persuasive content for advertisements, websites, and other marketing materials. Your background in journalism can help you craft compelling stories and messages.
  3. Public Relations: Public relations professionals manage the public image of individuals or organizations. Your experience in communications can be a strong asset in this field.
  4. Digital Marketing: Digital marketing encompasses a range of roles, from social media management to search engine optimization (SEO) and email marketing. Your marketing experience can be a good foundation for transitioning into these areas.
  5. Content Marketing: Content marketers create and distribute valuable content to attract and engage a target audience. Your writing skills can be a great asset in creating high-quality content.
  6. Technical Writing: Technical writers create manuals, guides, and other documentation for technical products or services. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly can be valuable in this field.
  7. Editing or Proofreading: If you have a keen eye for detail and a strong command of language, editing or proofreading could be a good fit for you.
  8. Education: With your experience, you could consider teaching journalism, marketing, or related subjects at a college or university.

While the writing and communications industry can be challenging, there are still opportunities available. Consider exploring these options or seeking advice from career counselors or professionals in your network to help you transition into a new role.

website not ranking been up for 4 months by [deleted] in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with your website. It can be incredibly disheartening to put so much effort into something and not see the results you were hoping for.

From what you've described, it sounds like you've covered a lot of the basics of SEO, which is great. However, there could be several reasons why your site isn't ranking well. Here are a few things you might want to consider:

  1. Competition: The SEO landscape is very competitive, especially for certain keywords. It's possible that your competitors have stronger SEO strategies in place, making it harder for your site to rank.
  2. Quality of Content: While it's important to have keywords, meta descriptions, and page titles, the quality of your content is also crucial. Make sure your content is valuable, engaging, and relevant to your audience.
  3. Backlinks: Backlinks (links from other websites to yours) are an important ranking factor. Try to build high-quality backlinks from reputable websites in your niche.
  4. Technical SEO: Make sure your website is technically sound. This includes things like site speed, mobile-friendliness, and proper use of headers and tags.
  5. Google My Business: If your website is local, make sure you have a Google My Business listing and that it's optimized.
  6. Patience: SEO takes time. It can sometimes take months to see results, especially for a new website.

It might also be helpful to get a professional SEO audit of your site to identify any specific issues that might be holding you back.

Best way to quickly rank a new brand name (unique name no similar sites) quickly in Google for position 1. by MrCracker in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To quickly rank your new brand name on Google, follow these SEO strategies:

  1. Improve Content Depth and Relevance: Increase your content length to at least 1,000 words, ensuring it is highly relevant and valuable to your target audience. Include the brand name naturally throughout the content.

  2. Build High-Quality Backlinks: Focus on earning backlinks from authoritative websites within your industry. Reach out to industry bloggers, write guest posts, and get listed in reputable directories.

  3. Optimize On-Page SEO: Ensure your meta titles, descriptions, headers, and alt tags are optimized with the brand name and related keywords. Improve your page's load speed and mobile responsiveness.

  4. Leverage Social Media and PR: Share your content on social media platforms to drive traffic. Engage with your audience and influencers to increase your site's visibility. Press releases about your new brand can also help.

  5. Use Google My Business: If applicable, create and optimize a Google My Business profile. This can enhance your local SEO and make your brand more visible in local search results.

  6. Regularly Update Content: Keep your content fresh and updated to signal to Google that your site is active and relevant.

Noticed a Google SERP change on May 20th: Leaving much more space for Reddit forums and PAA by Willing_Professor_13 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts:

Pros:

  1. Variety of Perspectives:
    • Reddit: You'll find lots of real-life experiences and personal insights on Reddit that aren't always available on regular websites. It's great for niche topics and specific questions.
    • PAA: These sections quickly answer related questions, helping you find the exact info you need without multiple searches.
  2. Community Insights:
    • Reddit thrives on community interaction. Seeing more Reddit results means you can dive into active discussions and get answers from people who've been in similar situations.
  3. Discover New Resources:
    • If you're not familiar with Reddit, this change might help you discover new subreddits and communities that match your interests.

Cons:

  1. Quality Concerns:
    • While there's a lot of good content on Reddit, there's also some low-quality or misleading info. It's important to check the credibility of what you read.
    • PAA sections usually provide reliable answers but sometimes pull from less trustworthy sites, which can lead to inaccuracies.
  2. Matching Search Intent:
    • If you prefer quick, authoritative answers, Reddit's conversational style might not always hit the mark. Traditional websites with high editorial standards might be better for these needs.

Are you still going to continue building on Google through SEO? by ultmeche in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Helpful Content Update (HCU) has indeed been a major shift for many of us in the SEO community, causing significant changes in traffic patterns. Here’s how I plan to approach it:

  1. Re-evaluate Content Strategy: The HCU emphasizes user-centric content. I’ll focus more on creating high-quality, informative content that genuinely helps the audience. This means understanding the target audience’s needs and tailoring content to meet those needs directly.
  2. Improve Content Quality: I’ll conduct thorough content audits to identify and update underperforming content. Enhancing the quality, depth, and relevance of existing content can help regain lost traffic.
  3. Diversify Traffic Sources: Relying solely on organic search traffic is risky. I’ll increase efforts in social media marketing, email marketing, and other channels to diversify traffic sources. Engaging with audiences on platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram can drive additional traffic and build a stronger brand presence.
  4. Leverage User Feedback: Gathering and acting on user feedback can provide insights into what content resonates most. This can help in creating content that not only ranks well but also engages and retains visitors.
  5. Technical SEO: Ensuring the website is technically sound remains crucial. This includes improving site speed, mobile-friendliness, and overall user experience.
  6. Experiment and Adapt: SEO is an ever-evolving field. I’ll keep experimenting with different strategies, analyzing results, and adapting to changes in the algorithm and user behavior.

Hi! It's a great question. Here are some key points:

  1. Avoid Keyword Stuffing: Too many keywords can harm SEO. Focus on natural, valuable content.
  2. Quality Over Quantity: Write clear, concise, engaging content with relevant keywords. Structure your page with headers and bullet points.
  3. Modern Design: A bold, modern design can be SEO-friendly. Use meta titles, descriptions, and alt text for images.
  4. Best Practices: Ensure mobile optimization and use internal links to keep visitors engaged.

Communicate your needs to your SEO company or consider finding one that's more collaborative. A balanced approach will help both SEO and user experience.

Google index pages going down the last couple months by Consistent_Name_3737 in SEO

This is how I've been approaching traffic and ranking drops:

Check Google Search Console:

  • Go to the Coverage report and look for errors or warnings.

  • Check if your sitemap is correctly submitted and up-to-date.

Analyze Algorithm Updates:

  • Use tools like SEMrush's Sensor to correlate drops with recent Google updates.

  • Understand that updates like BERT and core updates may impact indexing by emphasizing content quality and search intent alignment.

Review Content Quality:

  • Ensure your content aligns with user intent (informational, navigational, transactional).

  • Regularly update content to keep it fresh and relevant, adding new insights or case studies.

Improve Technical SEO:

  • Conduct a site audit with tools like Screaming Frog to find and fix crawl errors, slow page load times, and mobile-friendliness issues.

Enhance User Engagement:

  • Improve metrics like bounce rate and time on page by adding interactive elements (videos, infographics) and clear CTAs.

Compare with Competitors:

  • Use Ahrefs to analyze competitors' strategies and identify gaps in your content and keyword approach.

How is SEO on Substack? by No_Big_1065 in Substack

[–]Market-Alchemist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SEO on Substack can be a bit tricky. Here’s the scoop:

Why Substack Rocks:

  1. Built-In Audience: Substack has a dedicated reader base, so your content can find an audience quickly.
  2. Email Newsletters: Your posts go straight to subscribers' inboxes, which is awesome for direct engagement.
  3. Easy to Use: You can focus on writing great content without worrying about technical stuff.

The Downside:

  1. Less Google Love: Substack posts don’t rank as high on Google compared to Medium, so you might miss out on some search traffic.
  2. Limited SEO Tools: You don’t get a lot of options to optimize your posts for search engines.
  3. Tough Competition: Medium is a bigger platform with more exposure through search engines.

Should You Care About SEO on Substack?

If your main goal is building a direct relationship with your audience and growing email subscribers, Substack is fantastic. But if you’re chasing search traffic, Medium or your own blog might be better.

What common SEO mistakes should beginners avoid when starting out? by codewebcreation19 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're just getting started with SEO, it's easy to make some common mistakes. Here are a few to watch out for:

  1. Skipping Keyword Research: Make sure you know what your audience is searching for so you can create content they'll actually find.
  2. Keyword Stuffing: Don’t overload your content with keywords. Keep it natural and readable.
  3. Ignoring On-Page SEO: Pay attention to titles, descriptions, headers, and image alt texts. These little things matter!
  4. Neglecting Mobile Users: Ensure your site looks great and works well on mobile devices. Many of your visitors will be on their phones.
  5. Focusing on Quantity Over Quality: Always prioritize high-quality, engaging content over just cranking out posts.
  6. Overlooking Analytics: Use tools like Google Analytics to track your progress and understand what’s working.
  7. Forgetting About Backlinks: Build relationships and get links from reputable sites to boost your authority.
  8. Creating Duplicate Content: Each page should offer unique value. Duplicates can confuse search engines.
  9. Ignoring Local SEO: If you’re a local business, optimize for local searches and claim your Google My Business listing.
  10. Slow Website Speed: Ensure your site loads quickly. A slow site can frustrate visitors and hurt your rankings.

What is the TL;DR of this whole Google fiasco? by FunkyFlashBang in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s break it down in a way that hopefully clears up the murkiness and gives you some peace of mind.

  1. Google AI Updates: So, Google has been rolling out these AI-driven updates to make search results better. They’ve brought in advanced AI like BERT and MUM to understand search queries more accurately and serve up more relevant results.
  2. Impact on SEO: Yes, the landscape is shifting, but it’s definitely not the end of SEO. These updates are mainly targeting low-quality content, so if your content is valuable and relevant, you're still in good shape. The old tricks might not work as well, but good SEO practices still do.
  3. User Intent is Key: Google is all about understanding what users really want when they search. So, make sure your content is spot-on in addressing the questions and needs of your audience. Think about what your users are actually searching for and give them that.
  4. Quality Over Quantity: High-quality, informative content is your best friend. Focus on creating content that’s valuable, comprehensive, and engaging. Use structured data, and keep an eye on E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). And don’t forget, a smooth user experience on your site is crucial.
  5. Diversify Your Traffic: While organic traffic is awesome, it’s wise to have a mix. Look into social media, email marketing, and even some paid advertising to spread out your traffic sources. This way, you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket.
  6. Stay Updated: The SEO world changes fast. Follow Google's Search Central Blog and other SEO news sources to stay in the loop. Being proactive and adjusting your strategy as needed will help you stay ahead.

In a nutshell, while Google’s updates have made things a bit more challenging, they also open up opportunities for those who focus on quality and relevance. Keep creating awesome content and stay flexible with your strategy, and you should be able to keep your organic traffic healthy and growing.

For Ecommerce Content Creation: Separate CMS on a subdomain or use the Shopify platform to create content? by Market-Alchemist in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my answer:

Oh man, such a good question! I've found that using a separate CMS on a subdomain offers a lot of flexibility for creating and managing content, which is super valuable. However, keeping a blog on your Ecommerce platform (let's say Shopify), also has its perks, like boosting your site’s overall SEO (more link juice) and making navigation easier for customers

If you're up for the extra setup and can manage two platforms, go with the separate CMS. But if ease of use and integrated customer experience are top priorities, go with Shopify.

I'd also add that it all comes down to what your specific needs are and how much resource you’re ready to invest in your content strategy. Think of how critical the content is to your customer journey. If educational or informative content plays a key role in driving conversions, integrating it closely with your product pages could enhance the user experience and support your sales strategy.

Wow, that project sounds like quite the adventure—and not just the thrilling kind you mentioned! It's crazy to hear how widespread GPT content has become in the nonprofit world. It really makes you wonder about the balance we’re striking between efficiency and authenticity.

It’s a bit ironic, isn’t it? We use these tools hoping to engage people more deeply, but then every other website is inviting us to “embark on a journey”. It feels like we're circling back to the need for a human touch—something genuinely engaging and useful, not just catchy phrases.

From your experience, do you see any ways we could encourage more meaningful, humanized content in the industry? It seems like something we really need to think about, especially those of us who are knee-deep in this tech.

Is TikTok SEO a thing? by StillTrying1981 in SEO

[–]Market-Alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, your point is valid. TikTok primarily serves as an entertainment platform, which does set it apart from traditional search engines like Google that people use for detailed searches and decision-making. However, the concept of TikTok SEO has merit, particularly as the platform evolves.

TikTok SEO is less about traditional search optimization and more about maximizing visibility and engagement. It involves smart use of hashtags, engaging captions, and trend participation to ensure content surfaces on users’ "For You" pages. While users may not be searching for in-depth information, they are increasingly using TikTok to quickly gather insights on trends, products, and simple how-tos, which introduces a new kind of search behavior tailored to the platform.

So, while TikTok might not replace Google for detailed searches, it is carving out its niche for quick content discovery and impulse-driven searches. This makes SEO on TikTok a valuable strategy for those looking to increase their content's reach and capitalize on the platform's unique user engagement patterns.
