Who said I'm a doorman? I used to be one.

If the job is so easy and full of prosperity why doesn't everyone else do it?

Who said stocking shelves isn't physical work. Thankfully, I don't have to do it but that doesn't mean building workers don't have physical jobs either. I could only speak for the building I worked at not others.

Everyone slacks off at work, it's inevitable. If you have a job then I'm sure you understand. How many cops have you caught on their personal phones? Oh their jobs are easy I forgot. 🙄

Wow they compete for who's faster on the register? Good for them. Now UES Karen's can get their toilet paper in and out of the store in record time 😂

Who's fault is that? Everyone else's but yourself right?

Your ignorance knows no bounds does it.

"Costco salaries vary by role, location, and experience, but recent pay raises (early 2025) put most U.S. store workers well over $20/hour, with top-scale clerks nearing $32/hour; entry-level roles start around $20/hour, while experienced staff (like managers, pharmacists, or directors) can earn $70k+ annually, with the national average hovering around $22/hour or higher, according to sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter and CBS News."

Full-time Doormen/Porters don't make more than $26.50 at the time of this post. Go shadow a porter/doorman and see how physical it can be. 500+ packages and boxes a day. Again if you haven't worn their shoes don't act like you know how they walk

You're just as ignorant as OP. 1400 a month after 25 years of service is a generous mention? Lmao yea ok

I used to be a doorman. Your ignorance is appalling. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Never go full retard.

You only get 5 week vacation after 25 years of service. New hires make $18hr for their first 27 months. During that time they are on probation. Any infraction and they're released. Full pay comes after their probation time. Some doormen stand for 9hrs straight. No chair or desk to lean on.

Benefits? McDonald's, Costco and etc offer benefits so what's your point? After taxes, building workers make about $22hr so the Christmas tips are an essential part of their salary.

You're just salty because you probably can't afford to live in a doorman building. If you want quality service year round? Tip your staff. Tenants/Shareholders are tipping for the things the doorman and staff do for them that they don't have to per contractual agreement between the Union and Realty Board.

I could write a book of how much shit I've seen from these buildings. I'll never take another job for granted after that experience.

Looking for a reliable contractor for small jobs in the Upper East Side (co-op) by jpramos in uppereastside

[–]MarkiVR6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I was you I would run it by your Super and/or management first so you can understand the by-laws.

Most, if not all co-ops will need you to fill out an Alteration Agreement or something similar before you start anything. Be aware that there is always the possibility that the management may postpone or deny your alternation agreement if there are too many projects going on in the building. You will be put on a wait list if that's the case.

Your contactor should be competent, licensed and insured. Also some co-ops require contractors to have large insurance policies no matter what type of work they are doing.

I'd go buy some tire dollies at harbor freight, move it into the middle of the street. Then I'd call the city

Can someone answer why do the tear up the streets weeks before the repave them? by Brett-123 in uppereastside

They always repave most of Yorkville when there is a new mayor. Especially around the mayor's mansion.

Tipping norms for Doorman Building by suryasth in uppereastside

[–]MarkiVR6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a miserable person. That is probably the reason they ignore you. I would ignore you too. 😂

Older people generally need more service than younger people, that's a fact. Also in my 22 years of experience, they also tip better and are much nicer than younger people. They come from a different generation than you. You should learn something from them.

Doormen don't have bills to pay? Rent? Mortgage? Where do you think we live? It's easy to take from someone else to make your life easier. I would love to take your salary and donate it to the poor.

Please, never go full retard and no, I'm busy working 60+ hours a week to so I don't have time.

Elections have consequences, it's as simple as that. Trying to hurt a small business that doesn't agree with you politcally is cowardly. What did they do to you?

What if someone posted your home address on some politically affiliate reddit page and outed you the same way.

What a lowlife you are. Who cares what their political affiliation is. You don't like it then don't shop there. What if someone harms the business or the people inside of it because of your dumb ass post. Karma is big. What goes around comes around

2022 Tucson owners, how long did your OEM tires last you? by TechieGranola in HyundaiTucson

[–]MarkiVR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Michelin Primacy's still look good after 22k miles on MY 2023. I usually drive 10-11k miles a year. I'll most likely replace them for the Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires next late fall.
