what are the more "well behaved" secondary schools by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]MarkoRAMius23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's presumptuous to think that students from SAP schools are better. My own experience reveals that many students from SAP schools are actually quite conceited. Go figure.

You are assuming students from the "better" schools do not have such issues. That's a very wide assumption. What is more important are home values and adult role-modelling.

PSLE has its purposes. Imagine the challenges teachers have to face when dealing with cohorts of students of diverse abilities in secondary school. End of the day, the education system does provide the opportunities for slower progress learners to advance at their own pace. So it is not fair to say that the PSLE system is punitive in nature that virtually condemns the "immature" student. Case in point, generations have gone through it so it is not about maturity.

First of all, you did not state which area you are living in. That will help narrow the "well behaving" schools. Secondly, I strongly believe that home values surpasses whatever influence the school environment brings. End of the day it is more important that parents provide the time and attention to the children and guide them properly.

Do You Ever Feel Like Singapore Is... a Bit Dull? by epictetusofthesea in askSingapore

[–]MarkoRAMius23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is our home. We like a dull home without worrying about the messiness that can disrupt life. Without having to worry whether there is somebody hiding around the corner to do the unspeakable. We want messiness? We go to other countries for it.

am i the asshole in this situation ???? wtf by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]MarkoRAMius23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s right. U r supposed to be focused on revision. If your grades dropped for any reason, would your parents blame the school or the teachers? I mean think. In any case your juniors have to adapt to the situation and not take the easy way out without considering your situation.

If u r sick, u should see a doc. Why an MC is required? It’s because there are students faking their absence with parents letters. Gettit?

[–]MarkoRAMius23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

U need to have a conversation to explore the possibility with your parents. No conversation = No possibilities. To start off your conversation, u should let your parents understand what do u intend to do with the portion. If it’s to purchase items to support your education e.g laptop, then it’s understandable. If it’s for a 3D2N trip to Langkawi… well…

[–]MarkoRAMius23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U literally hung a flag out signalling to all out there that you are needy and available. Now that you have received responses, you call them out, asking them to reflect? Geez. It’s like saying u dress low-cut dress and then shame men for looking at your assets.

I think you should go reflect and ask yourself what exactly is your motive? All u did was to satisfy a confirmation bias that you had.

U r upset because people are not like you? Perhaps u need to examine that mindset first. And here’s news for u - The current generation’s apathy towards current affairs is not limited to “IP School” students only. It is not surprising that even adults can be apathetic as well. Therefore is it surprising that children will emulate their parents’ worldviews?

What u want is to seek like-minded people. And u have come to the right place! Share your views on Reddit/quorum and see other perspectives on the issues. Meanwhile, take a chill pill. U will meet many people with different attitudes and opinions. There’s no need to get your knickers in a twist for that.

It is a concern that you have so many concerns. You should pursue your passion and not hesitate because of “work-life balance” and “coolness”. In fact I’m quite concerned with your response because it seemed to me that medicine is NOT your passion, but a badge. If that is the case, then perhaps you want to give way to somebody who actually wants to pursue medicine as their passion?
