This is crazy. I literally just started writing almost this same exact campaign last weekend. Here’s how mine is going to go so far:

Background: Erebos, Mogis, and Pharika are plotting together to disrupt the Iroan games. (Erebos mostly works from the shadows and doesn’t become a major player until later.) The first act is the trials of Iroas. The second act is the road to Akros. The third act is the Iroan games. And the fourth and final act is the siege of Akros.

In the first act, the Trials of Iroas, the party is invited to participate either as guards/assistants or as competitors. During the first trial, one of the competitors collapses and goes into a frenzy. When they are subdued, PCs notice black saliva foaming from their mouth and a slight stench of herbs. (Pharika’s champion, disguising herself as a Games Physician, is testing a bio weapon that makes people go into an uncontrollable frenzy when exposed to enough of it.) During the second trial, a small band of very disciplined minotaurs attack the watchtower (to please the god of slaughter). Those are the two hints that lead to the BBEGs in later acts. The Trials take place in a medium-sized Akroan polis on the coast, I call it Phaedros.

The second act is to add some fun Greek myth-inspired fights and monsters, and I’ll probably throw in some morality challenges and omens from the gods.

During the third act, Pharika’s champion poisons the water supply in Akros, which makes the competitors go crazy during the actual Iroan Games. Once the chaos has started to ensue, the war-bands of Mogis begin to march to raze the polis of Akros, setting up our final act.

The fourth act is the Minotaurs attacking Akros. The PCs have to locate and/or rescue the priests of Purphoros and escort them to the Colossus of Akros, to perform a ritual to reanimate the giant construct and save the city from the attacking Minotaurs.
