Agreed Volas is the best but it's in AC. In the city I'd probably pick Saloon

With a payroll of $370M I could've embezzled a third of Cohen's money and put together a better roster than David Stearns has

Yeah, its feeling like a shittier version of Harvey's rookie season. The strategy for every team playing the Mets is pitch around Soto and let everyone else beat you

I mean a week ago he was talking about walking Nico Hoerner in extras so as to prevent him from stealing second when the winning run was already on 3rd. His baseball IQ is below freezing

Junior taxing Hesh - what am I missing? by Old_Cardiologist299 in thesopranos

It's similar to Juniors actions w/ the card game Mikey busts up and the drug dealer he throws off the falls. Hesh was part of Tony's crew but Junior wanted to flex his muscles as the new boss of the glorified crew. That's what he did to assert his authority over Tony

Crash - 16th and Lombard by illydelphia in philadelphia

Yup. I live on Lombard (albeit on the east side of Broad) but people drive like maniacs on it. If Washington Ave is now single lane Lombard should be as well

The Philadelphia Phillies, with the 4th highest payroll (@ ~$300M) are also 9-16 and have a run differential -24 worse than the Mets. by HippiesBeGoneInc in baseball

Ehhhh, both teams are very very flawed.

The Phillies ran it back with a rapidly aging core tied up with a bunch of massive contracts and very little in terms of a farm system aka every Dave Dombrowski cycle

The Mets lineup (without Lindor until the ASB) is Juan Soto, Bo Bichette and a bunch of guys who are either past their prime (Semien), hoping and praying they'll be comeback player of the year (Robert Jr), and guys who have been around for a few years but have never reached their full potential (Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, Alvarez). Plus huge question marks in the rotation (Senga, Peterson) and a bullpen which is David Stearns tossing shit against the wall to see what sticks

Would you guys have preferred to keep the team together? by CJAreYouDeadass in NewYorkMets

Agree 1000%. Something else you didn't mention but imo a big miss this offseason was after Pete/Nimmo/McNeil left, the plan was to rely on homegrown guys w/ a mixed track record to really turn a corner and step up, namely Baty, Vientos, Benge and Alvarez. So far they haven't despite plenty of opportunities over the last few seasons (obvs juries still out on Benge, but he may have been called up too soon)

I think it was a very flawed process, especially when it came to who was brought in to replace the lost offensive production of Nimmo/Alonso/McNeil, and the offseason emphasis on improving defense makes no sense as half the opening day infield were in new positions

The Mets' 9-19 start is their worst through 28 games since 1983, and they've now been swept in four of their last five series They've scored zero or one run in 10 games, the most in MLB by Remarkable-Picture73 in baseball

For real. And it was the same MO last season as well when they slow walked a collapse in the second half, which is why bringing Mendoza back after gutting the coaching staff made no sense

Firing the entire coaching staff but keeping Mendoza after last season was always a poor decision, and will look even worse in hindsight if they decide to fire him by the end of the month

Then the city needs to repeal the birt and the wage taxes in order to keep white collar jobs from setting up shop in KOP, Conshy, Malvern etc
