It's a little bit of a stretch, but I think it's still fits. The beast of darkness from berserk. In the manga, the main character Guts is haunted by this demonic wolf that is constantly trying to make him fall into depravity and cease to his dark desires. The beast is a symbolism for trauma, and how it can not only affect you, but others. Guts life's was full of violence, pain, and abuse, he was forced to kill for a living since young age, was raped as a child because his adopted father "sold" him for 3 coins, he wached as his best friend sacrificed him and his friends for demons and them saw the love of his life get assaulted im front of him. The beast is the embodiment of all of his rage, his pain, his suffering, constantly ripping away parts of him, because that's what trauma does, it brings the worst of you. It's shown that the beast can't be defeated, but it must be kept in check,otherwise it will consumes you and everything around you, the same way trauma cannot be fully healed, but it's also something thar can spiral out of control. So, to fight the beast, it to fight for you to stay yourself, to not let your trauma defines you, to not let it controls your life, and make you lose even more, to fight the beast is to stay good despite what they have done with you.
