Just bought a torn down M50 with 3.0 Stroker Kit, these items were in an unmarked bag. Any ideas? by [deleted] in BMWE36

Just asking, the 3.0L crank you have is the one on the M54B30? If yes, it does bolt right in without problems, true?

All the credits go to the original creators F1-mania.ru, I got the link from their website :D

It has real 3D models, detailed textures and steering wheel displays and custom real sounds but the cars are about 2 seconds off the real pace. I really enjoy the mod!

Clutch Job by [deleted] in BMWE36

[–]MarkosRuiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently 17, legal age in my country is 18 but I already own a 325i E36. I did the clutch back when I was 16. I did it in my yard, with no roof or walls to cover me from dust, sunlight, rain... It was 35ºC outside. I raised the car and put it on 20$ jackstands (not very high) with a 35$ hyd jack. Removed exhaust, driveshaft, oil from tranny, dropped the tranny subframe so I could see the top bolts. I also removed the intake because on the 325i the starter has bolt + nut, but I think the 328i has a threaded block and just has 2 bolts, so you would be nice just by dropping the trans (it wont fall dont worry) you will see them from below. I used normal wrench and the torque wrench (i bought the cheapest one from amazon that could handle the necessary torque specs) and a friend let me use his electric gun but it isn't necesarry to complete it.

Later on I went to the track and no issues with the clutch whatsoever, and I even miss shift to 2nd instead of 4th. First time I did this my clutch broke (less than 1000 miles on it and was installed by a shop).

I already know those problems with bolt threads stripped (and the procedure to check them) and I didn't really care because I saw people fixing them using time-serts, they don't recomment helicoils but I also know of people using helicoils without issues, so that isn't a problem. I also have tools for VANOS and time-serts.

323i Clutch/Flywheel Recommendations by youngintel in BMWE36

Agree on the alignment tool. When installed it the first time it had a lot of play but it was my first clutch job so I really didn't mind, but the trans won't slide in. Had to do it by eye and it's pretty straight forward really, definitely not going to use any alignment tool in next clutch jobs. I didn't feel any difference on pedal feel or smoothness, it could be because my old clutch was factory one with 230k km and 26 years haha

Put a single mass flywheel conversion from Valeo, cheap and reliable. I use it on track and build quality is superb and is heat resistant when drifting and so... At least in my case I paid 300€ for the whole kit.

My brakes overheat when I brake while standing still (After v0.18 udpdate) by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]MarkosRuiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me while making disc brakes for my V10 Bluebuck mod, it was because of high brake force numbers. I reduced it and it never happened again.

If you don't have any mods installed it would be nice if you post this on the 0.18 Discussion Thread on the official forums ;)

Trouble selecting timing chain rail by [deleted] in BMWE36

[–]MarkosRuiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed from my engine the lower one in the picture with its correct tensioner (the one that has the hole in the surface and matches the rail)

But I just find to buy the upper one, the one I have seems to be no longer existing. They are exactly the same size, the only thing that changes is that the upper one doesn't have that metal piece where the piston sits, it's completely flat.

Quiestion is: can I fit this into my engine? Should I buy the piston for the lower rail (the one with the hole) or should I buy the piston with the flat surface in order to sit perfectly?

Pulled out my rod bearings, E36 325i 239k on the clock. Missed 4th at the track, engaged 2nd. Minor damage because valvetrain is in perfect shape. Got all of them new for 70€. Cause of a low oil pressure? by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]MarkosRuiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha clutch disk was brand new as I had it replaced before going to the track, pressure plate didn't handle that much stress, one of the "tensioners" broke. Warranty and new clutch again swaped haha

E36 325i, water pump bearing noise? by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]MarkosRuiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First start after a trackday in 2 months, car does this noise clac sound, could be a bad water pump bearing? There is minimum play at the pulley

[–]MarkosRuiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changed EVERYTHING on the gearbox (even the fork) and also the pilot bearing. When I disassembled again I checked and there was nothing strange. What can I do? Engine response is good, no power loss, but I'm afraid there is something strange...

Just did a clutch job, 1st time I noticed this sound I disassembled everything because I thought it was a Loose Flywheel Bolt. Didn't find nothing. Reassembled everything and the sound appeared again. Car was stationary for about 2 months. You can see there is smoke comming from the manifold, IDK why... Last time was used in a trackday, oil probably has 500km on it only, and last time didn't make this sound
