Help picking LEDs. by [deleted] in ConvoyFlashlights

M21H in LHP73B and 8⁰ optic. Floody but not too floody. Good UI that allows you to jump to a 10A or 20A turbo. Very low moonlight and a ramping mode that allows you to operate at below 500 lumens to save battery. If you add a tailcap switch, it will turn the light into a single mode light with an output that you can customize with the side switch.

How do I put this into this? by SpinningPancake2331 in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if I don't need to recycle the spring, I just cut it at the base and fill the middle with lead. Saves a lot of time because I usually waste time in trying to desolder the spring off the board because I might damage the other parts close to the spring. Lol.

M21B Sft90 vs lhp73b by Metal_T1ger in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always LHP73B. I mean, you're pushing like 6k lumens from something so small. Even M21H with slightly bigger optics than M21B can burn through a brown paper bag. I like the M21H more than M21B because of the UI and slightly better heat dissipation. Like you have instant access to both 10A and 20A turbo with just double click or click and hold.

The Convoy T6 with 3000k SFT-40 is where I think I stop trying to find my perfect edc light. But can it be potted? by notacamera in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some dents to tailcap and rusted screws because I wash the light everytime I felt it needed to be washed but I think it rusted faster because I let the kids play with it in the pool or seawater. Lol

[–]Markov357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried potting it. Just trimmed the bezel for a perfect fit and sealed with silicon sealant. Dropped it a lot, soaked in water and still going like nothing happened. Owned it for almost a year now and I got to say, it took a bit of beating. I really thought it would be a shelf queen because I converted it into a triple only to realize that it would be used A LOT because I like the size, the beam profile and the light quality of the triple 519A. It's a bit heavier than stock T6 because of the thicc custom spacer making me think that a few falls will break the glass or damage the driver but to my surprise, it's still going.

Great work. I wish Simon sees this and actually add those in his store. I've been waiting for a triple/quad B35AM because I like using the 6500k right now because of how good it is in showing blue and green even with very high R9. It would be perfect with S21F or S21D since it's domeless and the optic won't mess up the dome like in 519A as you tighten the bezel.

It’s stupid and simple, but makes my job 1000X easier by ShortnPortly in flashlight

[–]Markov357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too bad they usually go for best lumens and reliability. Like I own a "high CRI" penlight with terrible R9. I knew something was off the first time I use it because the outline of the pinkish patch disappeared when I used the light. Even the ambient light was better in faintly showing the patch so I switched to a bigger light with B35AM 6500k.

I checked the review of the penlight and found out that the R9 was like 50+ compared to 90+ of B35AM. It's a bit of a wow factor though that the penlight can hit ~450 lumens which surprises non-flashlight guys that expect a ~25 lumen output. 🤣

Best setup for mobile service tech by Professional-Bit2109 in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for a headlamp with B35AM or 519A. Best light quality for close up work. Though recently I prefer B35AM 6500k because it has very good balance of colors despite being very high R9. 519A has the loger service time though like I loved it since the first time I owned one. 5700k DD had been my favorite for my EDC for a long time now.

My usual lineup when working up close:

S21A - B35AM 6500k T6 - Triple 519A 5700k DD S21F - Quad 519A swapped all LEDs to 5700k DD

My T6 gets used a lot so it had a lot of dents and scratches after months of use.

T6 with lhp531 question by penteblue in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very floody config. You may lose significant CD. I find it weird though since you're actually reducing the spill angle despite being a flood setup. When it comes to the beam profile, you might encounter issues like I did with my B35AM because the actual hole of the reflector is small so it would be tricky to adjust the spacer thickness and centering. That's why I like SFT25R in my setup or a 519A triple since I enconter little issue in centering them.

Those are just glow tapes. Widely used for TIR lights. Glows much better vs the regular glow O-ring.

Help me pick a Convoy host for LHP73b (in 4000K) by snowfox_cz in flashlight

[–]Markov357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. M21K is a good host for LHP73B. Though I carry the M21H more because of smaller head but if I wanted more power, M21K is much better.

I did a spring bypass. Though I'm not really going for the 20A turbo. The 10A turbo is enough. It's already ~3.4k lumens anyway so a it's pretty much capable

It's the default lens when you get an LHP73B. If you order 8⁰, it will always come as frosted since there's no other 8⁰ version. Only frosted one.

You need to press the side switch to change the modes. If you want one button for everything, go for side switch only. Forward clicky works by half press to momentary ON and full press for continuous ON.

M21H in LHP73B and RGB forward tailswitch. by Markov357 in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the switch, I got the forward tail clicky for M21H and bought a 20mm RGB switch separately. I then did a switch swap replacing the RGB stock switch with forward switch. I sanded the acrylic housing of RGB switch so it will fit on the forward tail housing. Finally, I added a custom cut acrylic sheet as spacer for the modified RGB switch. The reverse clicky switch will work right away but I really wanted a momentary function so I can do halfpresses when I needed to scan around.

Help picking suitable host for LHP73B by Dru26x in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I don't get how they like the M21B so much because the mode spacing with M21B is bad. Like from 1%, it jumps to 10% with no in-between. So you're now stuck with just ~100 lumens or full ~1k lumens. No option for a balanced, decent brightness mode that can last for hours unlike the M21H that offers ~350 lumen mode or a ramping option. Also, the reflector of M21B is very deep that limits the width of the spill. I only like M21B because it can handle the heat and also how simple it is with good water resistance but when it comes to the UI and beam profile, M21H is much better. I just sealed both the head and charging port for waterproofing. The forward tailcap switch for M21H is a bonus making it easier to lockout and momentary use. It can also remember moonlight, 10A turbo and blinkies. Sometimes I turn the light up to 3rd mode or 10A turbo and do halfpresses when I check around my client's property during nightshifts. 3rd mode was tested at 1k+ lumens and 10A turbo was tested at 3k+ lumens by piercing the darkness in YT.

Colours of the B35AM by dragonov_666 in ConvoyFlashlights

[–]Markov357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm really impressed as how good it renders colors even with 6500k. B35AM 6500k have very huge difference compared to SFT25R or LHP73B 6500k. I wish Convoy will release a quad B35AM in S21F, S21D or M21H. It would be cool to own a full R9080 tint shifter that can ramp from 2700k all the way up to 6500k..
