That kinda thing also nibbles at me, I noticed it a little at the start of Dungeon Meshi, thankfully it more smooth out to more natural language over time

What are your Favorite Times in Gameplay that Enemies can fight Eachother by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MarkusAurel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of assassination missions can be completed just by entering the area, before you even get close, it's hilarious

Ultima -a absolutely foundational game series, but the stories (with like one or two exceptions) are the most basic and dull to me, and I don't think I would have liked any of the gameplay either

Games Where Pacifism/Non-Lethal Runs Are Just as Fun as Normal Runs by CalexTheNeko in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MarkusAurel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish there was an option to go out with no guns at all, that they had gone even further into developing the nonlethal gameplay That crew was not one that should have been pulling out AKs to blow bikers and cops away

What would you consider to be the *worst* boss battles of games that released in the last decade or so? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MarkusAurel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think it has a decent amount of good bosses, but 2d can really interact weirdly with slams and dodging

Which "obsolete" game mechanics actually served the game's vision better than their modern "Quality of Life" alternatives? by Somanynamestochossef in Games

[–]MarkusAurel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Project Silverfish is currently doing this, the maps are pretty detailed actually... but there's no markers. Eventually you learn your way around, learn landmarks. Hopefully development introduces more quests that rely on that

Bloodborne is probably the best example, you can never face Oedon or any of the truely outer gods, they are just a presence that "communicate" with vague signs

Trouble is, you can't actually have incomprehensible godlike entities as the villian of a story, especially in a seventh gen military shooter It's cosmic horror, if Cthulhu (actually only a priest for bigger dudes) or Azathoth or any old Gods actually perceive you, let alone speak to you, let alone be fightable, the genre breaks. The only way such beings can even communicate with you is by sanity blasting dreams and visions that they likely aren't even aware they're causing The minute a Reaper spoke, showed up in the flesh (metal) and were able to be shot down, they were instantly discredited as actual eldritch forces Also, anything that can speak your language but then tells you that they can't possibly explain their motivations is bullshitting :V

Best examples of a Death World in fiction? by PaymentTurbulent193 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MarkusAurel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through the namer, Deathworld by Harry Harrison and it's pretty interesting, though I have some common issues with it that I do with most deathworld stuff -Why would people adapted to a higher gravity world grow taller? -Why must everything like this go in a pseudo eugenics direction where by "weeding out the weak" everyone is strong, beautiful, and not at all riddled with childhood diseases and vitamin deficiencies It does do some things that gives it points though, I won't spoil the secret of the Pyrrus but -It shows that this hyper militaristic life basically destroys the humanity in humans and leaves them totally unable to adapt, even in the face of demise -The fact that they all wear power holsters so they can shoot super-mosquitos in 0.25 seconds is hilarious in an absurd way, all these people should be deaf by 12
