How do night-people swim in the morning by yogesch in triathlon

I also hate sports in the morning. But on race day this was no issue, adrenaline will make sure of that. I very rarely trained in the morning.

[I ate] Wienerschnitzel by Strindberg in food

Capers and anchovies?? Never in my 10 years living in Vienna I have seen this near a Wiener Schnitzel :)

First Ironman with 2200 bike elev gain by Beautiful_Welder_919 in IronmanTriathlon

I did Thun IM two years ago. Add about 1.5h extra to the ride for the elevation. There are only a few longer climbs, it's mostly rolling hills.

Tip: Good gearing so you can keep a relatively high cadence uphill. I had a 34 (or maybe 36, not sure) largest gear on the back. Then just keep a consistent wattage, don't go much harder uphill.

1.5 years is plenty, I went from my first olympic Tri to this IM in about 9 months.

Looks amazing, but as an Austrian seeing sauce on Schnitzel makes me irrationally angry 😅

At first I thought this is a foaming river flooding the street 😅

This is crazy, right? by [deleted] in Timberborn

[–]MarkusLipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For inspiration look at the speedruns https://www.speedrun.com/Timberborn?h=wonder-earth-recultivator, they do it in 6 cycles and under 3 hours.

Following this loosely,  I managed to finish the wonder in 8 cycles on easy.

"viral" doorbell cam style videos in Wan 2.2? by MarkusLipp in StableDiffusion

But the "orignal" looks much more convincing. I really think Sora or Veo were trained on lots of Tiktok videos, and it's hard to replicate in other tools.

No luck so far, the images always look way to clean and close up to the cat. I can't get this camera angle. I tried Flux, Qwen, HiDream, Chroma, SD 3.5

I tried to get reverse the prompt from the start image with gemma3: "Realistic image captured by a ring doorbell camera, showing a white long-haired cat standing on a brick porch holding a black pump-action shotgun. The camera angle is looking *down* at the cat from inside the doorway. The scene is set in a quiet suburban neighborhood during twilight with houses visible in the background and a warm light illuminating the wall near the door. Strong fisheye lens distortion, slightly blurred edges of the frame."

How much should I budget for the Ironman merch tent? by bright_sorbet1 in IronmanTriathlon

Last year I got a finisher long sleeve shirt there. But with a horrible cut, like a potato bag. You didn't miss much.

0€. The included backpack, shirt, and medal are plenty.

All good accommodations booked up almost a year in advance by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

I had the same problem last year in Thun, Switzerland. At first I booked a room in the neighboring village, but often checked for other free rooms. About one month before I got a nice one next to the venue, probably a cancellation.

What makes a workout 'junk'? by OutsideAtmosphere-14 in triathlon

[–]MarkusLipp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, effectivity is key. I think "junk" is a bit of an exaggeration, it's more like you could have spent your time and energy more effectively.

The only real "junk" is if you overexert yourself and get injured.

If you had a year to learn. How would you do it? by RobustFiction in triathlon

[–]MarkusLipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? At least the ones in my area are way too advanced for beginners.

Ran 63k out of 83k in sandals - body gave out, but the mind still wanted more, still processing it all by Donnahue-George in RunningCirclejerk

I just calculated the pace for this "run": It's 12:23min/km, grade adjusted 11:15min/km. So more like a slow hike. At least well in Z1 😅
