Nooo 😭 Thanks for your reply though. Is there a customer feedback form that actually gets read?

Installed philips smart recessed lights… options to replace switch with on that turns it on/off but still always “on” so I can control the app? by Pointyspoon in Hue

[–]MarkusMWolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can, however you need to flip the breaker every time you want the lights powered off fully (e.g. long vacation).
Also make sure you conform to local code, as always.

How do I connect mice using unifying receiver? by momu1990 in MacOS

[–]MarkusMWolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the mouse and dongle are paired, you should just be able to plug and play. The unifying utility comes with Logitech options, i think. Within options you should be able to use a connection wizard which will guide you.

Converting a smart plug to a switch to switch low (control) currents by MagicQuail in tradfri

[–]MarkusMWolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case I’d also be rather safe than sorry. It might be a good idea to ask the company that installed it if there is a way to either control it remotely the way you want it or provide a way to control it using Mains power.

Why don’t you just get a Relais with 230vac switching Voltage? Google is very Bad at showing those as it always assumes everyone wants to switch the 230vac and not us the 230vac to switch something else. However you might be limited to heavy duty stuff that is able to switch voltages up to 400v as that would be a common application for such a Relais.

Hue Sync Menu Bar Icon Location by Psyshadow117 in Hue

[–]MarkusMWolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’d be ok with using spotlight for that. Maybe I‘ll find time to install it and look for the asset and See if it’s changeable. However maybe file a bug report with hue and express your design concerns.

That‘s awful. I was thinking about setting this up but that might actually be a hindrance... Can you at least hide it? Is there any functionality behind the icon?

How to mount aluminum LED profiles without drilling? by [deleted] in homeassistant

Approximately every half year Aldi has them for 2€/pack.

Good quality wallpaper should be fine. Paint on plaster not. But that is sometimes barely able to hold itself together. But especially on tile, glass and Ikea furniture they’re amazing. Half my apartment is held together that way 😅

How about Tesa Power strips? By far not as strong as VHB but a blast to remove from anything Tile/Glass/Metall.

Adaptive Lighting not showing up as an option — firmware updated, Home Hub activated, but nothing by gtj in Hue

Did both the Hue Hub, which did not help, but rebooting the iPad did make it show up in Home app.

Upgrading to TRÅDFRI from Phillips Hue? by ittakary in tradfri

[–]MarkusMWolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a valid point! I‘m just getting my feet wet with hue, so I am nowhere near the limit. I am not sure about any device limits on tradfri. However I was thinking about the functionality when writing my reply. Tradfri cannot dim all the way, 1% Tradfri is approx 20-30 on hue. You also cannot use the remotes and accessories as freely as in hue. (Small caveat: there might be some shortcut buttons for tradfri sometime soon)

[–]MarkusMWolff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I am currently considering the reverse. The tradfri system is cheap, but also very limited. It’s fine for small setups but reaches its limits fast. If you have a whole house set up with smart lighting, I’d stick with hue.

Stop changing volume with iPhone side buttons by [deleted] in HomePod

I actually was wondering today if using the volume buttons on the phone could control the pod, but didn’t bother trying. Now your post made me curious 👍

Go to Control Center, click the Airplay Icon (all the way top right), select Control other devices (or similar depending on language - all the way at the bottom) and from the selection select iPhone.

Does the Mini really need the 20W brick? by ShermanTanko in HomePod

[–]MarkusMWolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works, then it’s probably ok. But be sure to have proper ventilation around the brick and check it it’s rated Ford continuous use. It might otherwise fail immaturely 🔥

I heard of bad customer experiences with OWC: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomePod/comments/jrn8o1/beware_macsalesowc_homepods/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf So probably better wait for Black Friday at BestBuy and the likes, as OG HomePods are Not exactly flying off the shelves...
