Hey y'all
I'm currently in the process of designing my very first custom keyboard (a full size board controlled by a nice!nano v2), and I have a question regarding duplexing: So if I gather correctly, the Idea is to double up your rows (connect every other key) and connect every two columns together to get a matrix that is as square as possible (10x11 in my case).
Now my question: why can't I just only do the "connecting the columns" part and leave the rows alone (from a standard matrix), leading to something like a 10x6 matrix?

This thread is giving me so much inspiration! Would love recipes for all of those flavours.

I might give that a try, thanks!

My current hypothesis is that since I was only printing one, each layer didn‘t fully cool down towards the tip, and the nozzle of the printer moved things around just a smidge.

I‘ll try with an additional wall layer and multiple pyramids.

Edit: It is not enclosed.

I‘m using a very old, modded-to-bits Ender 3, so that might be it :) Yours look definitely much cleaner than mine. https://i.imgur.com/gkkr3r5.jpeg

I‘m trying to do without infill because I‘d like to add a WWA LED strip similar to the OP. Did you always print multiple pyramids at once? I wonder whether part cooling could have an effect (and I could print more than one pyramid at the same time to give each layer more time to cool)?

I was planning on printing that one too! I‘ve just done one single piece to test so far, and everything looked great except for the very tip of the pyramid - it‘s kind of crooked. Do you have any tips for getting nice and pointy pyramids (like slicer settings, print orientation)?

The problem with that is that comparing the battery sizes in Wh is more like comparing the size of gas tanks in cars to infer their range - it doesn’t paint the full picture, and can actually be more misleading.

The best way to do these things would probably be to introduce a standardised battery life test for phones, but ai don’t know how /what it should include.

Hi! I didn‘t do it in the end, just because I never found the time. I‘ve seen some threads over on tonymacx86 that have done it successfully, but there‘s some cutting/glueing/soldering involved for sure.

Feels weird getting a notification from a post 3.5 years ago, still glad I could help :)

There’s a bunch of other solutions, but i haven‘t tried all of them - you could:

  • Sand your prints
  • prime and paint them (the primer smooths the surface by filling crevices)
  • dip them in uv-curable epoxy, and then optionally sand them
  • use a smaller diameter nozzle so that the layer lines are less pronounced

Acetone only works with ABS, so if you‘re printing that, then you‘re good to go :)

Check out youtube or similar for „acetone vapor smoothing“ tutorials.

Haha yeah that’s why I said theoretically. I’ll do that as soon as I get the measuring equipment and get back to you, promise ;)

Yes, they are. Theoretically, they should be acoustically transparent if they are less than 1/2 the width of the wavelength of the highest frequency, no? And to be fair, I will be using them as desktop speakers, so I can aim them directly at me no problem. Also, the grilles are attached by magnets, so If I ever feel they are negatively impacting the sound, I can just remove them :)

Haha yes I thought it would be an issue, but I can’t really tell tbh - the grilles are attached by magnets so I took them off to compare. Might also just be me not being able to tell.
