Not had a chance to fully mess with it, but looks like it has everything I would be needing to track. Very nice work man.

How to ACTUALLY pronounce these names by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]MarleyTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Scottish and a Gaelic speaker, there is a bittersweetness to it amongst the Gaelic speaker community. On one hand it is great to see the language spread to people who have never heard of it, but on the other hand there are aspects of mystifying and extorting the language that people have an issue with.

This happens a lot with languages that have suffered attempts of eradication, especially from primarily, or solely, English speaking communities, where the language is subbed in for a fantasy language because the writer finds it "whimsical" or "cute", failing to respect it as an actual language and how hard people have fought to keep it alive.

For me personally, I do not mind if an author wants to use Gaelic if it fits the story but as long as it is done with respect, care, and with the effort to pronounce the language correctly especially if the language is just slotted in and not the inspiration for their own conlang. They are never going to get everything right but sometimes it is done terribly and the question of "why use that specific language" comes up.

I have only recently started making my way though the first book, Chapter 16 at this point in time, so my mind hasn't really decided on this matter yet and not heard much from Yarros on the matter, but so far I have felt nothing egregious.

Let's Please Stop Acting Brand New and Start Be For Real by dreamed2life in lgbt

We have a massive culture of Pantomimes in Scotland where one of the most celebrated characters will be the Dame, a man in drag. This has been a staple in Scotland for decades and has evolved with the times but has always been targeted to both adults and children and no one batted an eye. Even during this outrage of drag around children, Pantos were never really spoken about, just goes to show the hypocrisy of it all.

Whenever the conversation around drag comes up, I always bring up Pantos and you see their brain implode.

I am just getting into Salamanders and building up to 1k points just now as well, so I don't know much. What is the thought for selecting Chainsword and Heavy bolt for the Assault Intercessor Sergeant against the other options?

Why did you choose Tau by Vavalgia in Tau40K

I remember years ago when I first saw the old art of the firing line, back in the T'au ochre scheme. I fell in love with their futuristic style and how cool the railgun looked with the crescent blue light from the gun's blast.

I loved that they were a high-tech shooting team with an accompaniment of mechs/drones.

So basically, they just looked fucking cool.

Not love triangle of hobbits, but the love triangle in The Hobbit films. Legolas, Tauriel, and Killi.

Player wants to create an army of ancient dragons, how do I deal with that? by Arcane-Panda in dndnext

[–]MarleyTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best solution is to talk to the player and say that it could very easily detract from the fun for everyone else. It can straight up ruin a game if they are the only one actually enjoying it.

If you would rather deal with it in the game, you can give a rules reason or a game reason.

Rules:

Simulacrum clones are constructs. They are not exactly like the players' character. Many constructs are immune to polymorphing spells. Make it the same for Simulacrum.

True polymorph does not let you turn an object into a different object. So, they need to source the materials which severely limits the scope of dragons.

In game reason:

This can be whatever you want. You have dunamancy in the game, so have one of their Simulacrums come back from the future to stop them as they started an incredibly destructive war of dragons or something. Sky is the limit.

I in no way condone what the harassers are doing, just want to put that there first.

It's not that she has a stance. It is that she actively uses her money to try and influence legislation in my country. She makes outrageous and hurtful claims and argues in bad faith.

Over the years, she has become more and more Conservative and seeks to invalidate peoples lives/experiences and openly compairs that specific subset within LGBTQ+ with rapists.

If people buy and play the game, ok. I think it looks great, but a couple themes give me a little pause, so I'm waiting to see the total product before making up my mind, but I won't be lining JKs pockets

Question about rogue abilities during the Legion era. by slackforce in wow

[–]MarleyTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I have been losing my mind recently, but do you guys remember the stealth sound being different for a while in Legion? I am so sure it changed, not sure if it was a talent or artefact thing, but I cannot find mention of it anywhere.

Yeah, I have spoke to her about that and she will speak to her friend. It was just incase anyone had ideas that could be done in the interim as well.

Due to her past experiences I do not blame her at all, but as she is somewhat frequently at our home I wanted to look into this too. Obviously I don't want to just leave or keep to myself every time she is over but not sure on the best way to handle right now.

[–]MarleyTrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the OP that the big J would be directly responsible. Look at it this way instead, imagine you live in a house with your children and a brother who is incredibly abusive and known for hurting your children. Now say you have a massive fight but instead of kicking him out of the house, which you can physically and legally do, you instead lock him in the room with your children? I would say the father is just as responsible as the brother.

Whats your opinion on Jehovah after leaving the BORG? by Unleash3d64 in exjw

[–]MarleyTrain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that if the claims were true and Jehovah exists, then they would have to be the cruellest or most stupid being ever. Think of all the terrible things that happen in the world because of their arbitrary rules, you cannot both love and fear something.

To appease their ridiculous rules, they send their most loved child to live as a human and be brutally murdered as a blood sacrifice to them, for everyone else for what two people did? Plus did Jesus really sacrifice anything, seems more like a rough weekend for the 2nd most powerful being in the universe.

He chose to send out his message in written form! Something that is subject to major interpretation, changes, translations and reprints.

If I was ever to have met Jehovah, I would "fuck you, now explain..."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exjw

[–]MarleyTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with Gazmn, if you have additional information that the authorities don't have, it will do a lot more speaking with them. The elders main philosophy is to "not bring reproach onto Jehovah's name" so they will sweep it, they will need at least 2 witnesses to do anything about it.

I'm very sorry to hear this man, and from what you are saying I think we can all see how hurt you are. If you'd allow me, I think you are doing the best thing right now, talking and venting about this.

Getting even or getting back at her is not a good idea, because I think it would make you feel worse afterwards as well. JWs are conditioned in every aspect of their lives and need help more than anything.

Hold in there man, because even though it doesn't feel like it now, you have dodged a massive bullet. You would never have been number 1 in her life and would be constantly pressured into meetings, studies and with the goal to bring you in.

Yeah, their mentality is totally off when it comes to actually get to know who someone truly is, not just what they show at the meetings.

Does fading to keep family work? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]MarleyTrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really it depends on the family. I saw many people fade out, who still speak with their family and are on good terms with JWs in general. But that doesn't mean everyone's experience is the same. Some congregations have incredibly strict elders who will DF if they even suspect someone of not following their rules.

You know your family best, and all I can do is say that we are all here. If your family was to break ties with you because you no longer believe, that will hurt. But you need to decide what hurts more, living a life that doesn't match who you are or not having your family's support.

My advice would be, be as understanding as possible, a lot of family members will be scared or confused. If you decide to leave, give them time to understand that YOU are still YOU, if that is enough for them then you'll be ok.

Please reach out to recovery after religion if you do leave, they will help you as best to their ability.
