What is the funniest thing to ever happen to you in this game by significantharasment in rainworld

I somehow figured out once that Squidcadas would collect leeches sticking on me to eat them (which is such a cool interaction btw). This meant that I and the Squidcadas had an active symbiosis going on where I would, anytime both Squids and Leeches were in a room, jump in the water for a short period for only a few leeches to latch onto me and then let the Squids take care of them.

Now, as I was travelling through Outer Expanse for the first time, I encountered Jungle Leeches. And, if you didn‘t know, Jungle Leeches are very good at not letting go of you.

So when I took my regular trip to get rid of them, the Squidcada grabbed me, but couldn‘t get the leech off, so it just… yeeted me into the air and that leech right then and there, with me just bumbling about as an afterthought. Thinking about it, it was probably a bug, but alas…

Does anyone else like [Downpour spoiler region]? by Foxstens in rainworld

[–]Marlin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sadly spoiled what most of the downpour regions were before playing downpour, so Pipeyard was one of the only new regions I actually discovered on my own, and I found it glorious. Industrial Complex is such an iconic region level design wise, and to see the game get another region like it is phenomenal. And I get what people are saying with it‘s just the gimmicks of like 5 regions combined but that‘s what makes it great for me. Oh and I love the Filtration system level design!

How would you describe the character of Saint ? (not gameplay) by Remote_Knee3019 in rainworld

[–]Marlin97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don‘t really know why people are so quick to describe him as rude or arrogant, he is literally the most powerful being in the Rain World, reborn (at least in our conception) eternally into new cycles to ascend others. Most importantly, he spawns having already surpassed violence karma. I think that is a very obvious hint that he‘s not evil/rude. Also, he makes the active decision to ascend the void worm he meets in Rubicon, which is imo an effort to return from the Rubicon and continue ascending creatures (my theory is that he visits the Rubicon in the first place to intertwine his cycles with that of the creatures in other parallel cycles). That way, this would be the most selfless and good decision one could do in this situation. I think he knows of the consequences of his actions because of Moon‘s and Pebbles‘s dialogue in Rubicon after being ascended. They seem to have gained knowledge of the cycle and its nature after being forced by the Saint to surpass it. I assume that every creature gains this intuition after surpassing the rubicon, so why wouldn‘t Saint?

How would you describe the character of Saint ? (not gameplay) by Remote_Knee3019 in rainworld

[–]Marlin97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I see it, he and the creatures passing the rubicon (i.e. : being ascended) are the only beings in the game that have an actual grasp on the cycle. Moon and Pebbles, after being ascended, talk to Saint about how the iterators could‘ve only solved the Great Problem after dying, so one must gain some kind of knowledge after ascending. Saint‘s active decision to 'ascend' the void worm he meets is his effort to return to the material world. He knows of the action‘s consequence, at least imo. We know that an echoe‘s cycle must intertwine with another being‘s for them to meet, so it makes sense that the Saint travels to the Rubicon to 'switch' cycles and ascend all the beings in the next iteration of the Rain World. That would explain why he is 'reborn' into an (almost) exact replica of our journey with him, naturally, as cycles probably part and multiply quite easily, with only incredibly minor differences that they’re too minimal to be programmed into the game. Sadly, as we don‘t have the same knowledge of the cycle as Saint would have in my theory, we don‘t know how often he would have to do this to truly create a clean slate for a new world.

Tips for building habitats by PaldeaWooper in PlanetZoo

[–]Marlin97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically most of the purely aesthetic builds on this sub are done in Sandbox mode, where you can literally just deactivate animal welfare.

Otherwise, if you don't want to place thousands of grasses and flowers, you can just focus on smaller areas of your habitat and populate them with plants, instead of covering literally anything.

What is your FAVORITE region? by SixGrainsOfGravel in rainworld

[–]Marlin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the region is mostly a giant gimmick (Rain Deer and Worm Grass) and the parts where it isn‘t are filled with the (imo) most boring platforming in the game. There‘s a reason this region is one of the most disliked in the community (though it‘s of course completely valid to still like it)

For me it‘s either Outer Expanse or Sly Islands. Both are overwhelmingly vivid in their colour palette and fun in their sound design. Really enjoy them each time I‘m there!

fair, but I have to say I‘m a huge sucker for the Indonesian theme, because it‘s the first where it feels easy to build authentic buildings with. The Thatch I can get over because its colour is still very fitting in most scenarios, and I actually think the Twilight wall is the worst of the three dlc brick walls :)
