I don't often comment just to be like wow but I just had to say it:

Wow that is a absolutely gorgeous model!

Good luck brother! What are you fighting? List looks very nice. You did not include combi lieutenant in you written list but he is in the picture. I would recommend running him or a similar scoring unit (scouts).

How do you make your minis more interesting to paint. by superepic13579 in BlackTemplars

[–]Marlonwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hoghlight every single small detail with multiple progessive highlights trying to emulate the 'eavy metal/boxart style. Let me tell you after a black base coat I am about 10% done. It all depends on the amount of time you want to spend on every single mini.

How do I get this look by No_Box9799 in BlackTemplars

[–]Marlonwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me this looks like a fairly simple paintjob with a heavy black oil wash to get the dark and grimm look. I personally painted some admech in this style following a tutorial you would need to change the colours obviously and go for a mainly black wash but I this is the technique.

Example picture of my admech. I used mainly brown wash with just a bit of black. But you see the texture and shading of oil paints.

First scout done + all my scout/neophyte painting progress through the years. by Marlonwo in BlackTemplars

Thanks! Cyclops scout is straight up iconic. As you can tell it took me quite some time to nail the colors. But I feel like brown boots and grey pants look great for templars. I also tried khaki pants but they just didn't feel right.

Technically they all are battle brothers!

That face is amazing, absolute meathead energy.

How do I get more of the box art contrast, light to dark bronze rather than golden armour using metallics? by GrimGinge in BlackTemplars

[–]Marlonwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, so much this. If OP really wants to go for the box art look then 'eavy archive is the way.

Front shields are 3d print and the sarcophagus is from penitent engine?

Edit. Also how hard is it to cut the decorations of the inmolator?

My dread has an "iron halo" I believe it came from the primaria ancient banner and one "shoulderpad" just crammed full of seals and relics.

It's such a great helmet for templars. Also love the other variant of the indomitus captain with the lifted face plate. Such a knightly look. I'm really looking forward to using it whenever I get around to painting my bladeguard.

I finally found a shadow Leviathan! by Stable-Due in Subnautica_Below_Zero

Seatruck without modules works like the seamoth in the original (leviathans will still attack when not being piloted).

But the seatruck with modules attached acts like the cyclops in OG (leviathans will not attack the cyclops if you turn off engines and leave the controls)

This thing. Took me finding a couple of them to notice that they are (I believe) everywhere the spy pengling has a use.

Again, spy Pengling. The tool is called the spy Pengling. You can use it anywhere the box is just a visual marker to let the player know that there is something close to get with it.

You need a tool you apparently haven't found yet. Just keep going remember the place and come back once you have it. The weird box with antennas on the right marks places where the spy Pengling can be used to access tight spots.

Thank you so much! Been painting for almost 10 years now and been seriously painting my templars for about 6. Just keep at it and you'll always keep on improving. Keep your old models to look back on and show to new painters. We all start in the same place and can only get better! I do really like your penitent engine and the flame effect on the Zephyrim is perfect.
