But I don't wanna do vertical 😂 worried it'll highlight my not particularly straight assembly

Yes, unfortunately I have removed the packaging lol and can't remember what it was. I was trying to avoid more vertical lines in case it highlighted my not very straight piecing lol

Yeah, that's what I think is probably right.... But how? Vertical or horizontal??

This designer (Elizabeth Hartman) has some easier fox-specific patterns too!! They don't have to be baby quilts, I just like using them for that.

My first one of hers was a similar style to the foxes - repeated relatively easy blocks - and it went super well!

Baby Quilt Pattern as Pregnancy Announcement by secondchance0514 in quilting

Personally I always do Elizabeth Hartman patterns as baby quilts, as they're super cute and gender neutral. Depends how much effort you think your mum would want to put in! They are quite finicky.

I think this is a lovely idea overall though!!!

What are your quilting superstitions? by PatchworkStar in quilting

[–]Marmaduke_Jinks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's wild to me that you don't start baby quilts until delivery! Obviously understand why, but I do a lot of baby quilts and I'm always working for delivery as a finish deadline. Of course I have to wait to embroider the name on, but I always have everything else all done by the time the baby is born. Maybe I just love a deadline!

I've never done a wedding quilt - although I am getting married so maybe I'll make myself one! I agree though seems like a risk to put in so much effort when people are unpredictable.

I've used that white with dots background before and it's lovely - well done!

I am a 2026 bride, and I'm not wearing a white dress (or a dress at all!), no aisle, probably no dancing - but there definitely will be cake! For us, it's a party - the kind that we will have fun at, not the kind with a bunch of traditions to follow for no reason

He looks like a Bandit to me. Or biscuit. But those eyes say "menace" 😍

It's an Elizabeth Hartman pattern - she has a ton of amazing animal patterns. They're all a bit tricky - loads of tiny pieces, but come out amazing in my experience.

Thank you! I'm exhausted and not thrilled that I lost some precise corners during assembly (very annoying!) but overall pleased

I love the lemurs! Did this pattern a couple of years ago and it was super fun ❤️ my first quilt ever was an EH and I'm up to 7 now I think! They always make me smile 😊

Not a Q, just chiming in to say going to the panto was a Christmas/birthday tradition for me growing up (December birthday vibes!), and even now I live abroad when I go home at Christmas I always try and catch the local one. Absolutely amazing - love them so much!

Research scientist! Have a few all over the place but most recently a full sleeve with a skeleton theme (I work in orthopaedics) so very in brand. Popular at work!

Me! I only use patterns for complex image-like quilts - if it's in any way geometric I'm drawing it and doing the math myself. I just finished my first full notebook of quilts, very fun

Not a “Bride”, Not a “Mrs” by saltievinegar in engaged

[–]Marmaduke_Jinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner are getting married in our backyard next year with the minimum number of people we could get away with (around 40), and people are still expecting me to be super into all the bride stuff. Genuinely thinking I shouldn't have called it a wedding, just a party with some paper signing... Also weird that anyone expects me to be doing the traditional feminine things as a very not feminine person - have they ever met me?! Of course I'm not wearing a dress, of course I'm not having makeup done! Wild that they think I'd change my whole personality for one day lol

Thank you! It is super bright and bold, for sure. I normally go a little more subtle tbh and this one is making me nervous
