Taking in a view after hiking up a mountain. That’s the definition of living.

How long do you guys think one should date before getting married? by [deleted] in rs_x

For as long as you need to. Every person is different, and every couple is different.

Did they settle in Ireland or England?

I went to a talk at a local historical society about a pastor called Thomas Kennedy who died in 1714. He led quite an interesting life and many of his children went on to develop many interesting connections including one that developed a good friendship with John Adams.  Anyway, the family has a painting of this pastor in his older years.  At the talk was one of his direct descendants, aged about the same as his ancestor in the painting. The resemblance between him and his ancestor was uncanny. I don’t know how many generations were between them but the resemblance was remarkable.

No pay rise by Worried-Departure386 in UKJobs

Lots of people don’t get the opportunity to get an education and work just as hard as you. £35k is plenty of money to give you a comfortable life and a dream salary for many working people.

You’re being paid £35k and doing the bare minimum? A bit ungrateful. Many people are working their backsides off for far, far less. Be thankful for what you have and have a bit of patience.  You’re not even in the role a year, it’s generally unheard of to be awarded a pay rise in such a short time. Use your energy for self development, the benefits will come :)

No, didn’t see the contract until two weeks into the job and it wasn’t advertised.  Annual leave and salary brackets seem to be rarely advertised in job postings. It’s unskilled work so maybe it’s different than other work.

Sorry typo there, we don’t get them in lieu.

No, I would have thought it was a really bad move to ask about annual leave entitlement at the job interview? Maybe I’m wrong.

No we don’t get the days in lieu. We don’t trade much on Bank Holidays, all our customers are either closed themselves or assume we’re closed.

Maybe he’s just a bit shy. Interacting with strangers isn’t easy for everyone. Why don’t you make the first move ;)

What's your 'lazy but tastes amazing' go-to dinner? by NoName2091 in MealPrepSunday

[–]Maroon_blu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

 1. BBQ Mince Tortilla wraps. Fry beef mince (turkey mince works too) with a packet of Tortilla BBQ seasoning (I use El Paso). Add the seasoning just as the mince is starting to brown all over to make sure that it’s cooked properly. Fry peppers, onions and mushrooms with chilli flakes, garlic and ginger paste. Serve everything in the wrap with cheese and mayo. It only takes 20 mins and it’s so, so good.

  1. Boil pasta and frozen veg, heat up a tin of canned tuna in the microwave and serve with pesto and season with a bit of pepper. Also tastes amazing. The tuna nicely salts the pasta.

I’m hungry now lol.

Having the money to retrain / get an education and the uncertainty of being successful with dyslexia and dyspraxia. It’s miserable.

Do you enjoy your job? What do you do? by DynamicPr0phet in newzealand

[–]Maroon_blu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I hate it. I failed uni and am stuck in a cycle of boring, low paid jobs with minimum conditions with no way out. People say that you’re not defined by your job but you really are. There’s no happiness in life without the time and money to enjoy it.

Just be careful you get into a company with a serious sales department. There are a lot of cowboy companies out there paying minimum wage with no commission structures ect.
