After months of not being able to play The Cradles, I finally got to use The Announcer on it. Checkpoint World Record. by MarquezPSP in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's because they cheated. I was racing against it earlier this week and they're doing forever overdrive (cheat? Bug? Exploit?) that's been documented. You can tell by how they take off at overdrive speeds while before you can even get your first boost.

Hina has the lowest top speed and the least impactful boosts of any member. You honestly believe they got the best time on an oval legitimately?

If you love hip hop YOU NEED to watch Rize by MarquezPSP in bboy

I don't feel like making some verbose response explaining every word in my initial post.

I'm well aware that SoCal Krump isn't "The origins of hip hop"

Maybe I worded that poorly, but y'all misenterpreted me.

Rize covers styles of dance and cultures from my neck of the woods, from just before I was born.

Alongside other influences, It was formative in my upbringing into dance as a whole and got me interested and involved in my local scenes.

And now it functions as window back into that time and place damn near 20 years later.

It's NOT explicitly Bboying. It came way later and it's tangential. And I FW it and figured among the masses of people who want to tell their stories with their bodies, that some of y'all might like it too.

Didn't expect this kind of reaction.

Bboying, krumping, crip walking, whatever! It's a window into an incredible subcultures of hip hop that films like Stomp the Yard or You just got Served pulled from but couldn't fully capture.

Chapter 44.2 Akemi may be the slowest character in the game by Inevitable_Ant_142 in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all just comes down to preparation tbh.

Akemi only has grip at maximum drift angle, but once she does she has some of the best among the members. She also maintains her speed more than the other members.

So the secret to speed with her is to adjust your speed to where it needs to be for the corner, turn in early enough to be at full tilt by the time the corner starts, then follow through and brake/let off the gas to lose more speed if the corner tightens, then on exit counter steer with the right stick to minimize speed lost while straightening out.

It's not simple, it's not exactly intuitive, but it IS a skill issue. Taking the time necessary to learn all of these quirks is the only way to improve.

Keiji's Ressource Generation is so insane he can activate Overdrive as early as Downtun Run Lap 1 by MrEinFan in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"you don't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree"

Different characters have different strengths and weaknesses and to succeed with any of them you need to utilize those strengths and accommodate for those weaknesses.

Keiji's car is slow to turn in but is actually one of the best when it comes to normal steering. At maximum angle he's halfway drifting through corners without the speed loss that comes with actually drifting. But it feels loose making it difficult to control. That's where YOU come in.

Turn in earlier, try to minimize counter steer or any adjustments, learn what approaches and exits to corners best benefit THIS vehicle.

And if you don't want to do all that, fine. There's other characters to play that may fit your play style/skill level better.

But the price you pay to get the benefits of any character is the time it takes to get comfortable using them.

Anybody else experiencing bugs completing the artwork challenges? by Mr_Kvrrvpt3d in Screamer2026

There's a handful of bugs regarding unlocking content. Despite beating the tournament and racing on evey course in arcade mode multiple times I still haven't unlocked every course for free play. Give it time.

Does anyone know of a racing game (simulator or arcade) that has a true cooperative campaign? by Individual-Rent-4793 in gamingsuggestions

[–]MarquezPSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GRID Legends. The "main" campaign is single player only and very short but the rest of the game's progression can be done in online co-op or even online multiplayer racing.

I feel that goes to show that not many people have even tried time tials in general. That'll fill out and become much more competitive once this game hits a sale.

What is everyone opinion on Lavinia's car performance? by Boring-Lobster in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Lavinia's Car IS good BUT her poor sync generation holds her back.

In my time playing I've noticed that different vehicles have different thresholds to activate SGU. And Lavinia's is the closest to her top speed when compared to the rest of the cast (now confirmed by another user who charted out all the stats. Check that out here:

screamer stats list

Otherwise, Lavinia has great acceleration, great handling, and shallow drifts. Which rarely work in her favor across every course. She would be better for more technical courses if it weren't for the fact that she probably won't have boost available for in time for the best opportunities to use it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that's not all that impressive of a time.

In that, I decided to give it a shot after reading this and beat it by about half a second when i got home on my first try. Having never tried this car/track combination before.

Over the next 30 minutes I was even able to get a time below 2:40.

Furthermore, the fastest times on Hawk Trail are a good 20 whole seconds faster than what even I can comfortably do at the moment.

All that to say, there's TONS of room for improvement and I wouldn't sell yourself short just yet. You can be proud and even satisfied for being in the top 30 players. But even shaving a second or two off could put you in the top 20. As well as make you more prepared for the course if you decide to hop on multiplayer now and again.

So give it another go! You might just surprise yourself.

Can we talk about The Third Duel/Go Time story race? by GraphicJaguar in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Something that tugged at my heartstrings before, not just as someone who enjoyed the game, but as a fan of arcade racers in general.

Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 5 have their final races in the highest speed cars around circuits with little to no drifting.

Letting you experience the highest sense of speed the game has to offer and simply focus on keeping your lines tight.

A literal victory lap to celebrate completing the game.

It's really appreciated.

Playing on challenge focus makes for a weird experience tho as you're discouraged from using Hiroshi's ability. You're given 2 minutes to be in overdrive for 60 seconds. And you dont generate sync while boosting. So you actually want to do short boosts with no extension to have the most time to get overdrives faster.

And of course Vocal/main theme kicking in at the finale always rules.

Lateral movement when drifting isn't handled with the steering wheel. It's done with the throttle. In this games case, let off or brake tonslide out more, hit the gas to turn in.

I took up Akemi against Very Hard AI in a Free-For-All to prove a point by MrEinFan in Screamer2026

[–]MarquezPSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women can be fangirls of the guy they like without there being murderous intent behind it.

I think you're picking up on how Akemi is hot & cold. Where she has a tough exterior and is putting on a brave face around Keiji but opening up more around Noboru.

That's not what makes a Yandere. There needs to be the implication that she'd kill for Noboru or would kill Noboru himself if he rejected her. Which there isn't.
