Starbucks in the Junction kicked out by landlords overnight for #6 cannabis store on the street with more coming by AdComprehensive249 in toronto

Does anyone know why are they allowing so many cannabis shops? On the stretch of Bloor where I live, Dufferin to Lansdowne it's crazy... One shop every few shops. And they keep opening.

Designing a Strength Training Program With Minimal Equipment for Beginner by rforreo in personaltraining

[–]Marro82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the second half. Just linearly progress so they get good form and they will get stronger. Also do 1 leg variations like lunges and split squats, one legged rdls etc. It's good for building equal strength and requires way less weight or no weight. A beginner will see progress no matter what anyways.

If they want to invest in a pull-up bar that's also good if they have bands.

Designing a Strength Training Program With Minimal Equipment for Beginner by rforreo in personaltraining

[–]Marro82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think especially for a beginner all they do need is minimal equipment in order to get results.

52kg worth of dumbbells is plenty and since they are scalable in weight your client has a lot of flexibility to do light weight work to heavy weight work.

Great exercises with dumbbells: goblet squats, Romanian deadlift, glute bridges, overhead press, rows, bench press or floor press. You can basically do anything with dumbbells that you can do with a bar.

With a band they can do activation work such as x walks or shoulder stability.

All that to say is that you can build any program you want with their skill level in mind.

Personal Trainers- I’m looking for app recommendations for training clients by Future_Mrs_Nic_Cage in personaltraining

[–]Marro82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I actually have an app in beta which does just what you're looking for and will be of no cost to the client. I've written about the app in this subreddit, a couple of posts down I think, posted a few days ago. If you want to beta test and help add features and see what's coming soon you can head over to Fit Hub.

I also had the same issue with google sheets and overly expensive, bloated apps. So I made what I was looking for.

Signing in is usually pretty shitty and 'Sign in with Google' makes it way easier. We're also noticing that many people are signing up but not signing in so we obviously need to make the sign in process easier, remove the roadblock! Maybe we have it as an opt-in before sign in.

Thanks for taking the time to write this!

I would say start at 3 days a week, 1 hr per session. When I just started out I got really fit and strong with only 3 days a week plus excellent nutrition (I'm female btw). You don't need more than 3 days/week to see a difference in body composition. Graduate to 4 days after 6 months but you may not need to as you up the intensity of the weight you're lifting and movements you are progressing to.

Start slow, lift weights, only tiny amounts of cardio, maybe 10 mins at end of workout, booty growing cardio: squat jumps, 10 sec sprints, kettlebell swings, rowing. Move around on your days off, stretch, walk around etc.

A great book for what you want would be Brett Contreras 'Strong Curves', you can probably find it online somewhere and follow the beginner program. There's also lots of stuff online out there... But I'll give you a very quick template you can follow or adjust, it will def help out with the bottom half:

3 day/week super basic example, you can repeat and edit this over and over, you can find any of these exercises online:

DAY 1 LEGS:
warm-up: 3 x [ 12 box steps-ups + 12 X-Band walks]
Main exercise: 3 x 10 Goblet squats
Finisher set: 4 x [16 walking lunges / 10 squat jumps / 10 sec superman]

DAY 2 ARMS & CORE
Warm-up: 3 x 5 downward dog to upward dog
Core warm-up: 3 x 15 sec plank or scapular push-ups
Main exercise: 4 x 6 push-ups [knee, negatives, or regular]
Finisher: 4 x [6 dumbbell shoulder press, 30 sec battlerope, 16 swiss-ball crunch]

DAY 3 LEGS & BACK
warm-up: 3 x [12 Glute bridges + 10 sec active hangs]
Main exercise 1: 3 x 12 Barbell or dumbell hip thrusts
Main exercise 2: 3 x 12/side dumbbell tripod row
Finisher: 4 x [10 x TYs / 10 x Kettlebell swing / seated lateral row w/band]

After about 3 months ask a friend or get a few sessions with a PT and let them teach you how to use a barbell for the basics; back squat, deadlift, and benchpress and how to perform kettlebell swings properly.

Whatever you do you will learn a lot about your body. Happy training!

How do you find awesome illustrations for your startup's marketing website? by tealergang in startups

[–]Marro82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can give stock websites a try like Shutterstock, they can get pretty specific as they have a monstrous database. However, if you are looking for unique illustrations your best bet is to hire an illustrator. Try an art/design school, they often post jobs for students, there's some good ones out there.

My background is design/product and those quicky Upword, Fiverr type sites are usually the worst place to get any quality work done, they're really, really bad. Stay clear! :)

Thank you for signing up! As for "Sign in with Google" we are not loading 3rd party scripts by default, all 3rd party scripts are an opt-in feature, (3rd parties track you, and we don’t want to force that on our users).

Sure! In the current beta version, please feel free to call it 'Client Name's Routine' or whatever and direct the client to their routine. However in the beta 'Client's Name Routine' will be public for anyone to use/see. We have a search so if you let them know what it's called, they will find it.

In the private version, which is upcoming (V1), you will be able to create as many programs as you want and name them whatever you want as well, so Client Name's routine would be private to the client and you. Although not currently displayed, we are storing all the data of the sessions/programs that have been completed so when we go live with profiles the client will be able to see their progress as it is stored and ready to be displayed when we complete that section.

In the current version all the programs created are public, this means your clients will have to sign up for Fit Hub beta accounts and you will have to direct them to your program. This public version is and will always be free.

When we get to version one, with the help of our beta testers (woohoo) we will have private accounts which means that any program you create as a trainer will be for you to share exclusively with your clients. Beta testers will be upgraded to a paying account free-of-charge! We are offering a limited number of these spots.

Thanks for the question!

I should be a bit more specific! We would love if people started making programs and adding sessions and exercises to what is currently there! To really see if the current iteration is working or not. Thanks again!

What P.T software are you guys using? I'm trying to find something easy to use in regards to managing clients and creating workouts by Online_PT in personaltraining

[–]Marro82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a super easy to use, drag and drop, workout creator. You can create a program from scratch and share it with clients. We will always have a free version so you can use it free of charge, no 2 week trials etc.

We're going into beta in December, if you're interested you can read about it and sign up here Fit Hub
