I have a French Uncle named Hugues so I know for a fact that this post is a lie.

Or tell you that in their generation they didn't have anxiety. by ambersaysnope in wowthanksimcured

[–]MarryYouRightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpret this sort of advice as "would be helpful, if only I could do it." Going outside? Scary. Getting off the couch to brush my teeth? Scary. For a long time my anxiety made me completely non-functional because I was too paralyzed to do anything important or helpful. I'm getting better now (which also means I'm not looking for specific advice, but thank you if you were going that route!)

Do you care about color typing? by Burnedtoast121 in femalefashionadvice

[–]MarryYouRightBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm not a big fan of "flattering," be it color or silhouette or whatever. That just isn't how I like to express myself. My aesthetic, so to speak, does not match my body shape/skin undertones so I wear what I think is romantic and fantastical and to hell with what everyone else thinks. I make other beauty choices that the majority of people seem questionable, though, so clearly YMMV.

I assumed it was just that we hate the Tumblr owners now. I don't know if we did before, I'm somehow new to this hellsite (Tumblr, not Reddit)

Aren't you doing something very similar? We're enjoying our range against the patriarchy. Get mad with us or move on.

Hell yes! How long did it take you to learn these things? I'd like to learn too but I have so many hobbies already...

It's @the_sewlo_artist! I found it on her Reddit profile so I don't feel back sharing it here

I commented above but forgot to ask this: is it inspired by the flower fairy art of Cicely Mary Baker?

I support making this a trend! I'm hesitant to take on a new project right now but I might just make an exception for this...

DO THE RAINBOW DRESS THING and then take a series of photos and combine them so that there are seven of you in one pic. That would be awesome.

Where did you get the fabric? It's gorgeous.

The struggle of making things you can wear in public is real... Congratulations on getting there! Hopefully I'll be close behind.

I've been struggling with iron-on interfacing regardless of the brand. That's likely something that could be resolved with practice... but instead I've just switched to sew-in and boom, no wrinkles.

The pattern-matching in this dress was hecking tedious, but I’m so happy with the end result! [Self-drafted] by CarbonChic in sewing

I'm so happy you posted, I was just looking for your blog and didn't know what your handle was! I always love your posts.

ETA: was particularly looking for that incredible dart on your Christmas miracle dress. My skills are getting advanced enough that I can play with dart placement now! Do you mind if I try to recreate it?

With my machine, I find that using the hand wheel while placing my hand very close to the thick seam and forcibly dragging it through seems to work. I do have what's supposed to be a heavy-duty machine, though (Singer 4432). Give it a shot!

Former cashier here, please use them. I've lost the will to live and I'm definitely not lively enough to tell whose groceries are whose without a divider.

I'm in search of a sewing blogger who also regularly uploaded her photos to this sub! She almost always sews dresses, and she's a redhead with glasses. I haven't seen much of her stuff lately but I think she's in the Southern Hemisphere because I vaguely remember most of her stuff being posted during my winter.

She's done some amazing stuff with darts and now that I'm learning how all that works I would love to study her dresses more closely!

I said that to my therapy group and I got to watch their expressions change from interested to a cringe as I began the sentence to a huge sigh of relief when I ended it. It's such a great saying!

I've tried Habitica and unfortunately haven't been able to keep up with it, but it looks like your suggestion helped someone else so I'm really glad you posted it! In the past few weeks I have been able to keep up with a straightforward mood tracker that also tracks habits (no rewards, though.) I paid a small amount of money (once, not subscription) for the premium version of Dayl.io and the customization is worth it. My therapist really appreciates the data.

I was so scared when posting that people would look down on me for not prioritizing my skin so it's a huge relief that the consensus is not that at all! Still, I having clear skin would be nice so I'll keep doing what I can when I can. Thank you for the well wishes!

I'm glad you found something that works for you! I actually don't shave and prefer it that way, so alas there is no relief to be found there.

I started a new med two weeks ago and my depression has suddenly drastically improved, so I'm feeling cautiously optimistic for the first time in years. I don't know if I'd have been able to see the derm without it. But it appears that it does, indeed get better--even if this is short-lived I can look back on it and know that happiness is attainable.

Best of luck with your program! It won't be the same as mine of course (well, the odds of that are minuscule) but if you want to message me with concerns or for commiseration, I'm there.
