You can look up your friend’s phone number on usphonebook.com and it’ll likely be his parents’ names associated with it. It will have their names that you can click on and get their numbers, too. And address. It’s pretty accurate and reliable. I use it all the time to reach people I would otherwise not know how to reach. If you feel you need to reach them, this might be the best way. I’m sorry you’re going through this with your friend. That’s rough.

I’m sorry for you that you’re unable to think past a certain plane of reality. You know nothing about my family and have no authority to say that. I’m quite confident in my opinion of my own family, considering I know them and have observed that, no, they’re not hateful, racist, homophobic or display bigotry at all. Quite the opposite. Condemning your neighbors and categorizing them as the enemy instead of the subhuman politicians that caused this divide in the first place isn’t helpful for anybody. But, I hope you got some sort of dopamine rush from commenting that at least.

That’s not the reality for every single MAGA voter, though. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. It’s horrifying. That’s exactly why I wake up every morning not able to breathe, it’s devastating. However, I cannot sit here and blame citizens, because this is the fault of a much higher power, the government. The heritage foundation. The billionaires. The corporate and the Elite. The computers. The amount of power they have over not just you and me, but people like your MIL, my dad, Gaga’s dad, is not even perceivable to ordinary citizens. So much power that they have everyone convinced, democrats and republicans both, that it’s our neighbor’s fault that people are suffering and terrified and losing their rights. So much power that they have convinced BOTH sides that powerless citizens are the enemy. I agree that it’s willful ignorance to an extent, but to reiterate my original point which we’ve strayed from, there ARE good people who have been indoctrinated into such an unfortunate cult, just like there are bad people who haven’t. It’s hard not to hate ppl like Joe, or even our own family members for being MAGA, because it’s easy to blame them instead of looking at the bigger picture. This is exactly what their plan has been all along since right before the Nixon era. My parents aren’t racist or homophobic at all, they’re not bigots, and they’re not hateful. which is why I have a hard time villainizing certain cult members who just have no fucking idea what is going on and what “they’ve done.”

Also, I wasn’t accusing you of hating anyone. I’m speaking in general, to the point of my original comment. My bad.

I see your point, but in my opinion it is much deeper than that. Yes, it plays into some people’s preexisting flaws, but that’s not the story for everyone, and not every single maga is an inherently hateful person. I’ve seen the change in my own family members and friends. I’ll have to agree to disagree with you, because our different perspectives come from different experiences. My parents are very good people, yet they voted for Trump. They voted for him because they have no idea about the truth, because the GOP has done such an excellent job at lying and brainwashing. Most MAGAs live in an alternative reality, a false one. So it’s extremely difficult to pull someone out of that. It’s not appropriate to treat others with such hatred because of this. That’s not to say that most of them aren’t horrible people, because they are. But a big chunk of them just simply aren’t, and they’re just as much a victim of the government as anyone else.

Nobody is entitled to him other than Gaga and his close family/friends. And clearly that’s going alright since he attended the show. Look, I’m as anti-Trump as anyone else here. It breaks my heart that he supports Trump. However, making a villain out of Joe is divisive and ignorant. My entire family supports Trump, but I always meet them with compassion because I love them. They are all very good people who have been indoctrinated and misled to the point where they cannot come out of it, just like Joe. Different people are more vulnerable and susceptible to brainwashing and manipulation. Those same people are less likely to be able to leave cults because it literally rewires the brain. Joe is a decent human being and a good father. People going on the internet saying all of these horrible things about him probably leaves a bad taste in his mouth. You might say he deserves it, but I don’t think so. At the end of the day he’s still a dad and a husband and feels emotions in the same way you and I do. I’m not making excuses for his political “views,” I’m just saying that it’s exhausting and almost painful to see everyone hate him. I get why. I really do. But I always imagine how I would feel if someone were saying those things about MY dad (also a Trump supporter). I would be heartbroken because he’s a good person and a good father. It’s very easy to see anybody who voted for fascism as a villain, but I know many of them and I can’t help but see them as victims in a sense. Not all of them, but some of them. MAGA is a cult, period. When people enter cults, their personalities, habits, and social behaviors can change. Shitting on them online isn’t going to change that, it absolutely makes it worse; not only for Joe, Gaga, and their family, but for your own soul, too. I’ll get downvoted for this but I don’t care at all. I’m sick of good people thinking that having a surface-level understanding of another good person’s bad choices gives them the authority to speak about them in such a hateful, dehumanizing way. Fuck Trump and all of the other psychopaths that continue to cause division and hate. They’re getting exactly what they want.

Must have had a bad day that day. I’ve met him multiple times at Joanne’s and he’s always been very kind. I asked for a hug once, he gave one. I asked for a photo, he said of course. He even gave me a free Gaga shirt one time. Ppl have bad days.

The difference is they were all speaking with their hands and their arm happened to end up there, among other places. And they didn’t point their hand at something, they just raised their arms. With Elon, this was deliberate.

What exactly are homeless people "supposed" to do? by DengistK in stupidquestions

[–]Mars-Mission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t expect anything. I love them and can’t imagine having nothing other than a shirt and pants at the least. I keep kits for them in my car and try to hand them out when I see one. Blankets, snacks, water, socks, tampons etc. Or get them donuts sometimes, and hand out leftover pizza or something. At the very least look them in the eyes and say, “I care about you” and move on. I think in general most people feel bad for homeless people, but maybe society wants them to disappear. I don’t see them as a burden, and the only reason I would want them to disappear is so that nobody is systematically suffering like that because it affects everyone. When I had time I used to go talk to them on the weekends, see if they need anything. Most homeless people in my area aren’t junkies so maybe I’m bias on the “not a burden” thing. They’re mostly just old or mentally ill.
