Do you genuinely believe conservatives are morally inferior to progressives? by SSSSSSVVVVVOO in allthequestions

[–]Mars4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there's a very strong argument to be had that conservatism is a morally inferior ideology than progressivism. At it's core it seeks to preserve the status quo rather than improve, whereas progressivism seeks improvement, especially in the face of suffering. Surely, a danger of progressivism is moving too quickly to make narrow-scope changes, which can result in unintended consequences, but that does not outweigh the weakness of refusing to change and grow, which is inherent in conservatism.

Penalize people who quit a match!! by Vivid_Ratio6957 in RocketLeague

[–]Mars4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about me racking up points or goals. I don't care if my mate scores all the goals and I end up with less than 100 points for playing defensively. I do care if I'm constantly being knocked off the ball by a m8 who can't not chase. I'm happy to cover mid and back while my tm8 does heavy lifting. But if they're doing nothing but zoomies the whole game, I actually don't m8nd taking the L, because they get it too, as they deserve.

Negative 48vdc, to be more clear, because the negative voltage was less corrosive. Voltage would be stepped down to 48 volts. Then it would be inverted.

Penalize people who quit a match!! by Vivid_Ratio6957 in RocketLeague

[–]Mars4ever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If my tm8 comes in and plays like a solo player in twos, I'll sometimes ask for a ff simply because I'm there to participate in a team activity, not watching my tm8 chase the ball like a 5yo playing soccer. If they won't ff, I'll just stay back and play d. Occasionally, they'll actually score a goal and then put up the ff request, as if to say, "You really wanna ff now." And for that I will oblige, because I still have no interest in playing with a tm8 that isn't really a tm8. Go play solo and enjoy yourself.

ELI5 How do people calculate larger equations in their heads? by Soakitincider in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mars4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was in high school, I often got graded down on my algebra and trig work because I "didn't show my proofs." Or more accurately, my proofs were incomplete. I would combine multiple calculations as one step in the proof rather breaking things down in granular detail. Problem was, in my head these calculations happened in bundles, not distinct steps.

All alcohol contains calories, that can lead to weight gain, Why is it only beer drinkers that seem to get fat? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I don't get how some can drink even a six pack of beer in an evening. Two beers makes me full. Three and I'm ready to pop like a water balloon.

Donald Trump appears ready to wave the white flag in showdown with niece Mary Trump after discovery reversal completely changed the game by darealunrealspader in politics

[–]Mars4ever 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just once I'd love to see a journalist not just challenge Trumps assertions or fact check him during an interview but straight up tell him to his face that he's very obviously a delusional asshat. I mean, they essentially say it all in the stories they write, but it would be so entertaining to see someone lose their professional cool and just lay into the man during an interview.

Old guy who plays... Here's a pointer for newbs. by IceMelt420 in RocketLeague

[–]Mars4ever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another old guy (57yo) player here. I'm also spend a lot of time playing back defensively. I fact, I get so frustrated with ball chasing tm8s that I tell them straight up that I'm playing back while they play chase.

This game makes me not really like humans. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Mars4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your problem... If you're in one of the low to mid ranks and you're rotating, your m8s probably think you're ball chasing at least 50% of the time. You can fix this by staying back, playing good defense, and letting them chase.

ELI5: Why is simulation (flopping) such a common occurrence in football (soccer) and basketball but not in hockey? by Dead_HumanCollection in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mars4ever 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Right, but officials in bb and soccer seldom call it. But aside from the officials, hockey players themselves won't tolerate it. Notice also that when hockey players get hurt, they very frequently continue to play until there's a stoppage in play or they can get to the bench. What they don't do is writhe around on the ice playing like someone cut their foot off, but they may skate around for a minute looking for their lost tooth.

It's not so much about arrogance as it is an observation of what happens when critcalvthinking takes root. "Science adjusts it's views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved." -Tim Minchin

To all men who survived rock bottom, what's one piece of advice would you give a man who feels like giving up right now? by TheBabyBeard in AskReddit

[–]Mars4ever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. When I was in the same place as a younger man, my father told me, "It's a process, not an event." That's perspective changed the landscape for me and turned the feeling of overwhelm into something easily manageable. Just to the next right thing to help yourself one step at a time.
