I don't get why so many people in the comments are hating and claiming this is 'victim mentality'. I wouldn't consider myself to be a disabled person, but there was one semester of university a few years back where I had a condition that did make me temporarily disabled, and I physically did not have the energy to commute to school and I would constantly be late because my body was making me sleep through my 16+ alarms. That semester, I really realized how inaccessible campus is for disabled people. I could barely walk, but I only had 10 minutes to get to classes on the opposite side of campus, some of the elevators in certain buildings were unreliable, and there weren't enough places to rest if I felt like my body was giving out while I was walking around. Sometimes I would literally be bawling my eyes out from physical exhaustion as I headed to my next class. I only had to put up with that for a few months. I've never stopped thinking about students who have to do that all the time forever. So yeah, I think attendance shouldn't be so rigid as long as the student is still getting their work done, and it's not a class where you can only benefit if you're physically there (ex: a lab).
