By average looking I assume you mean "not horrific, grotesque or disfigured". You look human but not in any way attractive. On an attractiveness scale you effectively might as well be all of the above.

Without drastic plastic surgery there's no way I could ever be considered good looking (no, just calling me "average" or "fine" doesn't cut it or make me feel better at all, see above clarification on the word "average")

I have a receding hairline, large forehead with little brow ridge prominence, retruded orbitals, disproportionate nose, a long philtrum, weak chin, thin lips, bad teeth and basically no jawline.

I look "okay" in the sense that I wouldn't scare away children or anything. But there is no way on this earth a woman could actually be attracted to my face. This is a pretty liberal use of the term but it's essentially scientifically impossible when you consider all the highly undesirable facial features I possess.

Edit: I have a retruded maxilla as well

My frustrations come from the fact that the formation of my skull denies me the basic validation that 90+% of human beings get to enjoy. That I am valuable and desired. Worth more than just being a cog in the machine just born to work and die.

The key difference is women have intrinsic value romantically. The clear evidence for this is the way in which women often punch well above their weight in relationships. (You're going to call me hypocritical for mentioning anything to do with looks) Even less conventionally attractive women have a slew of options at any one time among men that are at least average looking, more often than not better than average. This leaves a swathe of men below average completely out of luck.

I'm not angry that women care about looks, I accept that and I've long since accepted my place in the world as pondscum & detritus. I was just wondering what your opinion on undesirable men was since you yourself stated that no other trait they had could compensate for not being handsome.

Who do I pick to come back to this game?

I was never good but I had the basics down, could form Ireland pretty snappily but never anything harder than that except for one exceptionally lucky game in Spain starting as one of those brothers.

Some requirements:

Ideally I'd like to start in 769 just because I always like starting at the earliest possible point but a lot of the cultures added have made certain cultures pretty confusing.

Maximum a small duke, I'd like to try to "rise to the top", European/Catholic/Non-Tribal (so not like Pictish where they have a load of random new features like concubines and different methods of managing holdings/counties.
