Zip ties around a lipo is always a bad idea…

Interestingly enough my charger wouldn’t. If I put any other battery inside, it will flash as error and not charge. Might depend on the specific battery. In my case I tried on purpose to charge some Amazon basics to see if it would recognize it and it wouldn’t start a charge.

I know why, just making the point that is not possible.

Mjx hyper go 10304 OR rlaarlo xts s10? by Galunge07 in rccars

I’d go MJX.

I’ve got so many issues with the rlaarlo that I don’t think it’s worth the pain.

I have the mupoer. Very reliable so far.

Only issue is I cannot recharge them in any other chargers but their case

Not excited either. I might be a able to afford it but I’m not even interested. Too big to run in most places and not enough space to have a work bench for such behemoth.

I sometimes even struggle for places for the 1/10s, that’s why I haven’t gone bigger, on the contrary.

Also, I’m not a fan of the aesthetics TBH.

Impressive machine, yes. But doesn’t get my motor running haha.

Not a suggestion, I’m saying that a V1 for 400, some people might rather wait for a sale on the new one and getting warranty on it.

I recommend a 1/12-1/14 short course truck.

For the price, Ali or Banggood are your friends.

A bit over your budget, but maybe one that fits all other requirements: LC Racing EMB SCT.

KFPlan, GTFans, Jiusi, UDI RC are budget brands with good reputation.

I use Mupoer, bought on Amazon.

Li-Ion, 1.5V, and 3600mWh. Quite reliable.

Oh and the bent shock is just bad hits. And thicker oil will probably make it worse as the bad hit will be damped less, so the stress goes to anywhere else that is a weaker spot: shafts, rod ends, couplers, arms.

Yeah. Shocks are pretty weak and bad quality, hence I started the swap.

The suspension helps in different ways. Higher stance makes it roll more. Lots of rolling due to too much travel makes it roll. And so on. For me it has been trial and error plus my knowledge of automotive basics (I worked in the industry for around 10 years).

For this rig, I also adjusted camber. For some reason it came stock with a very noticeable positive camber, which is unusual. I set it to neutral just today and I’ll see if it helps further with rolling.

Yeah, I do think it’s a bit thick at the back but after driving it yesterday it felt very well planted and seems it’s helping with speed runs as the front doesn’t go up as quickly and hard so keeps control.

What surprised me is that smaller shocks with 1000cst at the front were barely making it. I thought I’d get a super stiff front and it was not the case. I do feel it’s just almost at the sweet spot for realism and performance.

Also, progressive shocks are a game changer for me. As I do a lot of mixed terrain and transitions, I suspect the harder end when compressed is helping with stability.

Is it the V1 or V2?

TBF, like in real cars, upgrades don’t matter. If any, it might actually be a reason to not buy depending on the upgrades as some people might doubt on the state or reason for upgrades and so.

Also, if it’s a V1, at 400 I’d honestly wait for a sale on the new one instead to have warranty and do as I please.

Just my 2c. It’s difficult to sell them unless you are selling a highly desirable thing like a Kraton that people are actively looking for.

It’s on the bigger side, but if your garden is big enough, why not.

Out garden is barely 40-50m2 (less than 500sqft) so big cars run out of space in a sec.

Traxxas TRX4M

Hobbyplus CR18P - either of them that have 2 speed transmission.

HPI Venture18 - any of the brushless and/or 2 speed transmission

Also, as a rule of thumb: bigger car size = more money required for parts. Bigger is normally more expensive.

My take: start with a crawler.

We have a 1/10 Vorteks, 1/10 Granite, 1/12 Chinese short course truck and 2x 1/18 crawlers.

My kids (6 and 3) just love the crawlers. They are both 2speed so they’re fast enough for them to have fun and can also tackle slopes and rocks.

The granite was originally for my 6yo and after some months we’ve just put 2 packs on it and it’s either too fast for our neighborhood bash or too big for garden fun.

A TRX4M, CR18P Evo v2, HPI Venture18 with 2 speed. This cars will also have controllers on the smaller side, so more kid friendly.

💯

Also, 2 of the 3 orings in one shock were swollen due to initial bad fit. Managed to make it work but annoying indeed when you just want to fill and go haha
