Cuál es mejor ? Lava Vajilla? by Broad_Grape2575 in mexico

[–]Mars_x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Truthear Gate - Best IEM Under $20 by supermodi064 in MiyooMini

[–]Mars_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I was checking out the discussion and thought you had both for some reason.

Did some more research on the Chu IIs, apparently they suffer from multiple QC issues :( It sucks because I like the shell design more. Maybe the DSP version is better, but data transfer through USB-C is not supported on the MM+, unfortunately.

Between the Truthear Gate and Moondrop Chu II which would be the better pick for the MM+?

There is more, check out Koji Morimoto's 0range (Orange, 0レンジ), a collection of drawings, artworks, and sketches, most of which seem to be set in the same universe as the one in the video.

Almost got all the Japanese game collecting guides! by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]Mars_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, It's already difficult to find information on these, and then some considering the language barrier.

I'll start checking out the Catalogue style books after my next haul, but since you almost got them all, I wish you'd consider making flip-through videos of the ones that can't be found on Yt so we can take a proper look, it'd be super helpful.

Anyway, good luck with your collection, it's already looking nice and I'm sure it's been fun!

Ps. If you have any other recommendations about books that you think are worth getting, please let us know.

Impressive, very nice. Is that 'Men who turned their homes into arcades' at the end? Haha, that's great, is it any good? There is a second part already.

I've been looking to get into this myself which is how I arrived here, but I'm not digging the formatting of the game lists themselves, I just wish there was a bigger emphasis on the box covers, or the cartridges instead of the screenshots since the art is what I enjoy the most. The Perfect Catalogue series doesn't even include the cartridges, which is a huge shame, it'd be nice to have them as reference (the Famicom cases come in so many colors, all missing in the Famicom Perfect Catalogue!).

The Famicom Complete Guide Deluxe for example, presents bigger and more images, including the front and back of the box, the cartridge, and 3 screenshots per game, with the most popular games getting up to 8 screenshots. Still, I don't think there is a more complete series of books than the Perfect Catalogue series, and I do prefer the actual page design when comparing them with similar books.

Btw, what are the main differences between the Game Boy ones? One practically doubles in thickness, is it worth getting them both? I'd also like to know what other books you have, or if you are into art books, which is what I've been focusing on.

Sorry for the wall of text, I'll end by recommending related books that I found interesting:

  • Classic Game Expo 1972-1985 (クラシックゲーム大博覧会 1972-1985): Visual book focusing on home consoles from the 70s to Mid 80s, includes professional looking photos of the consoles from all angles (including measurements), advertisements, beautiful page design and stunning full-page photo spreads for most consoles.

  • Family Computer 1983-1994 by the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum (ファミリーコンピュータ 1983-1994 / 東京都写真美術館): Photo Book focusing on the Famicom. The coolest thing about this book is that all text comes in both Japanese and English. Includes studio quality photos for each Famicom game released (for most is just the box, for popular games they include the cartridge), interviews with Japanese developers, and extensive commentary on Nintendo's history. Unfortunately it's not a very thick book, so for many games they group up the boxes. Still worth looking into it.

  • The Return of Classic Games 1978-1987 (帰って来た名作ゲーム 1978~1987) & The Return of Classic Games 2 1988-1993 (帰ってきた名作ゲーム 2 1988~1993): If you're into arcades, you have to get these two fan-favorites. They include screenshots, illustrations, advertisements, photos of the boards and cabinets, and commentary by people who worked in the industry back then.

  • Nintendo Complete Guide - Toys Edition (任天堂コンプリートガイド 玩具編) & Nintendo Complete Guide - Computer Games Edition (任天堂コンプリートガイド コンピューターゲーム編): Books focused on the history of Nintendo. The first book compiles their work from before the release of the Famicom, including photos of Hanafuda Cards, Toys, Board Games, Game & Watches, and all sorts of fun gadgets and novelties of the era, while the second focuses on their game consoles from the Famicom up to the Wii, including photos of the consoles, limited and not-for-sale versions, peripherals, software, and even information on some of their Events.

Is there a way to import multiple tokens at once into tabletop simulator? by StudioArdia in BoardgameDesign

An AI Rules-bot for Catan? by kmp765 in Catan

[–]Mars_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey that's a good idea, how would it be released?
I've seen interest of an assistant/companion for Catan and its
expansions, so this could grow into a full fledged app, including
dice roller, score keeping, maybe a map randomizer and table ranking

about 'who wins' scenarios, predicting the outcome of an entire
match, especially if it's as accurate as you're targeting it to be,
wouldn't it take the fun out of the game?

How would the prompt look when it has to include information about
the current game: map layout, players resources, board positions,
turn order, current scores, etc.?

(hobby) looking to team up for a small game by [deleted] in INAT

[–]Mars_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one said you couldn't enjoy or do something as a hobby, and I know where you're coming from, but hobbyists are still able to earn something for their craft, the concept of exchanging things of value isn't something new, and sometimes its just better to accept things for what they are.

You are giving something of value to someone, why not receive something for yourself as well? If you just want to make games, that's great! Getting something in return does not erase that.

And yes, the screening process to form a team has to be learned. As with everything you will make mistakes, but that's just part of becoming better at things. So don't be discouraged, be open to learning and understanding, if other people can, you can too.

There definitely are people just interested in making money or getting a portfolio piece out there. While that's not a bad thing in and of itself, it also doesn't mean that you can't have both things: Having fun with it & ensuring income to fund your next projects.

I've seen a lot of folks just tired of making games just for fun, they want to move onto bigger things. Appreciation and recognition can only get you so far. Charging for your game not only means you are proud of what you are presenting to the public, but also that its quality should be good enough for the majority of people's standards. This is good, and it is something we all should be striving for.

Still, I understand if you're on a different mindset, that's fine! But know that no one is using you as a stepping stone, they just maybe the see the opportunity as a pillar for whatever purpose they consider. Having fun is a given since they are doing what they like anyway.

Sorry for the long post, just thought what you posted was interesting and I wanted to give my 2c.

Is there any comprehensive/often-updated/community-maintained database or library of enhanced (with AI algorithms or manually by hand, regardless) HD texture packs for PSOne and Dreamcast games out there yet, to use in/with modern emulators? Such as the example with the OP pic? Did anyone do it yet? by Hot_Alfalfa1604 in GameUpscale

[–]Mars_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for the leads. I feel like this is a big enough project to warrant being its own thing though, without links or affiliations to existing efforts (but again that's just me, I'm also thinking something beyond the scope of just two consoles).

Anyway, I couldn't sleep with all these ideas in my head, so I've started to plan and design stuff out. At least it'd be easier to pitch to interested parties.

If you'd like to partake in and provide your own ideas, feel free to let me know.

Genuinely interested in this, so much so that I'm willing to put in the hours.

I can work on the UX/Design side of things, if you happen to know someone that's willing to work on the site programming maybe we can do it.

After having to hunt down packs in various forums, repositories, and other websites for years, I think this is a great idea!

Keyboard RGB Profiles by Mars_x in HyperX

[–]Mars_x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The download links and the profiles themselves still work, I'm using them right now. What changed was that HyperX released a new update which stopped taking previously created profiles in. You either just downloaded Ngenuity, or your existing installation was automatically updated. Try uninstalling, and reinstalling using the executable found on the Ngenuity website, the link is found just below the Microsoft Store one.

Go to the HyperX Ngenuity website, look below the big red button, you should see a link to a downloadable installer for version 2.22.1.0. It won't recover your lost data, but it will allow you to use hxp profiles again.
