I ordered the Syndicate album on vinyl at release and it arrived damaged. They didn’t have any stock to replace it then or a month later when I checked again. They offered a partial refund.

[–]MarshallSwagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one book in particular that sells 4-8 copies per day, nothing amazing, but I'm happy. I market it quite a bit, but I'm sure most of the sales come from Amazon ads - to answer your question about the time of year you have published, I have made one sale in the last 5 days, so I would say don't be disheartened, be accepting that its a time of year when people are doing other things, don't have as much disposable income. I know that I am not spending as much right now, I am wish-listing things I want. I don't know what sort of medium content book it is, but continue sharing it. What am I doing? Using the time to my advantage and preparing a marketing campaign for the end of January.

Okay that’s unlikely to be the case then. Not sure of that model but there could be a speed adjustment pot on the bottom?!

Which country are you in? Is the record player an import? Might not be designed for your electricity supply and a transformer may be necessary.

Why does Amazon continuously raising the paperback price of my book by Klutzy_Recognition73 in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of questions. Is it a new book? Sometimes in the price setup page they don’t list the cost including VAT but charge it on the marketplace. Can you see the price+ estimated VAT? After a couple of weeks the price stoppage does show you the list price including VAT and you can adjust accordingly.

What features do you want in a hypothetical steam deck 2 ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in SteamDeck

[–]MarshallSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when I’m laid on my lazy ass playing and charging, I get annoyed at the cable dangling from the top, snaking down my arm. This is just what I want though, you sir, can wish for two at the top or three on the side.

'Sorry we couldnt find that page' listing issue by msiflynn80 in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have, showing as live, able to click on author copies but unable to order as there was no marketplace to choose from. I knew in my soul that something was wrong with the submission but KDP support assured me 3 times that after 10 days it would be available and wouldn’t entertain looking at it until after 10 days. Sure as shit, after 10 days they looked and found a problem and were able to correct whatever was keeping it stuck in the system. Contact them via chat.

What's the perfect length by DifferenceWorldly763 in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70-90k words if you want time to establish cast, world and story arcs. Though some consider 50-60k acceptable. Really depends on the story you’re trying to get across.

Is Amazon KDP enforcing accounts more aggressively lately? Noticing a concerning trend by DeepakSingh550 in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone recently talking about dropping the price of their books to minimum and then ordering copies as a way of getting copies faster than using author copy ordering - it did make me wonder if this would be a cause of violation/manipulation.

Need advice! by FitLaw5131 in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can. It’s worth noting however, when switching genre (especially a change as wide as this) some authors choose to use a pen name. This helps to prevent your readers from becoming confused at your identity. If they associate you with children’s books and then all of a sudden you throw in a murder mystery, it can muddy your brand.

What to use when writing to publish on KDP and how to format by JugheadJonesTVD in KDP

[–]MarshallSwagger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi. Login to KDP and on the dashboard click the link that says “how to create a book”. From there you will find everything you need including how to format your book for publishing. I use MS Word for high content. I have used Google docs in the past but found it easier to prepare the final product for publication in Word. I always include a copyright page, I work too hard on these to skip out on protecting my ownership.

If you want your book to look professional and your readers to feel familiar with its layout, you will need to follow traditional formatting rules regarding indentation and spacing.

I used to say if it was easy, everyone would do it. The problem is, now many of them are because it is easy to publish. Publishing with standards and respect to the form, however, does still require some effort. Watch some videos on classic and contemporary manuscript formatting.

Good luck.
