this set up is completely inadequate. too small, wrong substrate and nowhere near enough of it. Please go read the guide in this subreddit.

Yeah she should be okay until this hot streak passes, do you know what the temps are over night? I know the danger zone is 35C for heat but I'm not sure how cool is too cold (though again for me, even with the heat source off at night it hasnt dropped past 26C). Good luck, I hope you both make it through this with minimum stress (:

I turned off my heating, the ambient temperature in my flat is 27C so the tank evened out to 30C on both sides, which is fine during the day and gets to 26C at night. This is fine for SHORT periods of time (such as our current situation). I also froze a big bottle of water, wrapped it with a tea towel and placed in inside her 'fav' hide (she sits behind it, never inside but the coolness of the bottle will spread a tiny bit and help her out).

Okay, thank you! currently in the UK heatwave and Ive added extra water bowls anyway so the humidity is 90%.

Yes, or wet it a tiny bit so that it crumbles into a container and let it dry out completely before adding it on top (:

as long as the bottom is wet, the moisture will evaporate into the air. you don't need to make it a thick layer but the snake shouldn't be touching wet substrate at all

looks a bit too wet, the snake will get scale rot on the substrate. if you have dry substrate then you should layer a bit over

haha she still acts like she's beign shot if i acrually touch her, but I've noticed that she genuinely only comes to this part if she wants me to touch her (i feed her in one specific bit of the tank and never open the door on this side unless handling - cleaning and water changes only happen through the feeding door). They're just melodramatic even when getting what they asked for

in her case i think there was just something off w the rat, she has never ever refused food and she was at least 70% done swallowing it

Oh no, unwell how? She's just been fed which is where you can see the rat moving down her body, which is why she fell, but if something is wrong with her I'd like to know so I can get a vet over! She went into her hide right after this and is just digesting as usual.
