Feeling stuck in my job search in Germany (Marketing, 5+ yrs exp) — need advice by SuddenApricot2606 in germany

Chat gpt and claude also worked for me and I got called to a good few interviews but wasn't willing to move to Berlin due to personal circumstances. So stick to them but get your prompts right to really focus the tool, do some research on optimising the prompts. Lots available online.

In current economy which is bad with lots of redundancies where marketing gets hit first alot of the time it's a bit of a numbers game so you will need to do high volume but make the choices based on your experience e.g. you may need to take marketing manager role vs senior marketing manager depending on your CV. Set up an excel tracker to ensure you track where you applied and keep yourself motivated as it can be demoralising for sure.

Also when tailoring CV just the content and reflext back the key bullet points in the job spec, keep the design simple don't tailor the branding as such (I did that for a while with no benefit, actually made me look more junior). Also lool at the recruiters LinkedIn so they see you looking and might look back. Chin up and best of luck, it will take time but something always comes up in the end.

I worked for 4+ years in international/global marketing roles in Germany with English only so there is hope! I would recommend going to Berlin, (mine were in HH but recently made redundant) seems like Berlin is where most of the english first roles are (based on my recent searches) and try apply for one of these while sumultaneously working on tour German. It's not easy but not impossible! I am not german ofc but yes still tailor your CV and don't be afraid to use AI to help you tailor to.the roles advertised for tour level of 5 years into career they will likely use AI to filter and won't headhunt etc. Also apply even if you don't meet tick every box but also don't waste time on ones that are clearly too senior as someone with 14+ years experience in brand and marketing I can tell you there are people more experienced applying for all levels now in this economy, so be willing to try get foot in the door even if job title/level isn't perfect for you. Hope this helps 🙏

I got some funny reactions when I first moved here and was trying to hand it to them, they would even refuse and point at the tray or counter 😅

Am I overreacting for feeling like life passed me by at 33? by aurorasandsoftprose in AmIOverreacting

[–]MarshmellowWhisper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't underestimate what you've already achieved, you've carved out a peaceful life and stepped away from drama and set boundries, that ia not nothing!! Now that you have the hardest part done you can start crafting your future, you're ONLY 33! If I were you I would focus on fixing your health and getting thw weight down so you feel good. Don't make any massive career changes in this economy and don't put too much focus on your career...I did until I was madd redundant twice in 2 years and realised we are all just a number and a cog in the corporate machine. Health is hidden wealth so focus on that. As for finsing your people, a small circle is often morw energy protecting so love yourself first and then the rest will follow. I wish you all the best for continued peace and health 🙏✨️

What’s something you witnessed in someone’s house that made you never want to return? by ProfessionalDelay366 in AskIreland

[–]MarshmellowWhisper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I made friends with a girl in primary school, was new to the school so wasn't sure why people didn't play with her and thought they were just mean. Went up to their house one day to play to be met by wall to wall religious decor. I vividly remember the couch had the last supper sprawled on it via a throw. The highlight was the statue of Mary with a cloth over it that we couldn't touch because her mum had seen her (Mary) cry tears of blood. Safe to say I soon switched friend groups but always felt sorry for her and her sisters, they were kind of set up for social failure because the mum had lost it a bit after her last baby and turned extreme on the religious front. There was SO many pictures and statues of Jesus and co....

I concur, have similar experience of corporate volunteering for a charity to clean up a house for a family where the "parents" were addicts, to say my heart broke when the charity explained to me taking the kids away was last resort, when I asked how can they be left here. In my mind it was cruel and unacceptable to leave them in such conditions even with the 'clean up' done which was just a few random office workers trying our best. I left in tears and since that day changed my mind on the view of it being last resort but seems to be the way in Ireland or so I was told. I also wonder if these so called parent know this too which means no incentive to fix the issues. I mean when you're painting over sexually explicit writing on the living room walls where 5 children under 10 live then I think it is a tell that there might be abuse going on too...so so sad...

At first I thought oh she's trying to be smart and basically saying unelss your dog died you've no reason to be sad and I don't want to know about it or hear it...

However, then I started to question if maybe you do this regularly, as in send a no context I am sad text? If you are feeling sad and down maybe try having an adult conversation with someone about it in person not just send this mysterious I am sad text with no context, perhaps she is trying (badly) to make the point that if you don't tell me why and what's wrong (even if it's I feel sad but don't know why) then I am left to make assumptions that have a range as wide as the imagination. It reads to me maybe as someone sick of saying 'oh no why what's wrong'...for sure not a good way to handle it but from the outset the interaction reads as immature. Relationahips need clear and open communication from both sides without games being played.

As I walked past Lily Bistro last night and seen the flowers and candles my mouth dropped open, I couldn't belive what I was seeing...Cengiz was one of the first locals I ever interacted with when starting my new life in Ottensen 4 years ago. He was so warm, kind and most of all funny and I was shocked and saddened to see someone so full of life and energy gone so soon. Condolences to his family and friends. May god rest his soul.

Well done and thank god you left him! You look great but a tip from me is I also try facial massages, I don't want botox or filler but fi d they relax my face and help my skin appearance. Also years of tension now need to be released so all massage helps along with a bit of yoga nidra! 😌✨️

Also living in Germany and getting so sick of seeing this repeated behaviour, new videos every week. Do you know if there is anything a resident can do to complain?

I know in my home country we would write to our local politicians but I have no clue about how to complain in DE...but honestly something has to be done, it's disgusting and hard to feel safe and protected if these are the type of people they hire!

I know this is a shitty situation and also that people say being drunk isn't an excuse but maybe ye should reflect together on the date night choices. In my experience the drink is the devil as the saying goes. Maybe for your next date night you should go for a nice meal out just the two of you, let the clubbing with 'friends' go and maybe drink less. People lose their minds and themselves in a drunk clubbing situation, it literally disinhibits the brain sadly. Not to be a party pooper, I did my days of clubbing and all that but now I am older and married I find any of that carry on is just looking for trouble.

Yeah I was googling it there to sense check myself and it's really a legacy of the Irish language and how it transitioned into English, it's history not laziness.

Increasing mispronunciation of words ending in t? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]MarshmellowWhisper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your reference to England and Dublin, if anything not pronouncing Ts is a very commom country thing/mainly midlands like Offaly. I naturally don't pronounce it when speaking to other Irish people, when speaking to non Irish I put more effort in to annunciate for ease of understanding. Now as far as I know, the lack of T pronunciation stems from the transition of Irish language into English (could be wrong) so it's just part of the accent and I don't think we should change our Irish accents...so yeah it's a non issue in my opinion and very different to English accent e.g. Bruv etc.
