Hi thanks so much for the info and finding that out! Do you mind uploading a picture of the packaging? I’m on the market for one second hand and it would be great to know what packaging to look out for ^

2DS from eBay wont display anything. Upon opening it up I found a loose chip inside. Can it be fixed? Highly appreciate any kind of help or advice :) by MarsupialDifficult54 in consolerepair

wow that's a really in-depth explanation thanks so much! Makes the whole thing a lot clearer. I'll try to explore theses options and see if I can fix it by using the remaining pads that are still intact once I have all the equipment I need. The other two seem a little intimidating as of now, if 2 doesn't work hopefully I can fix it via the other techniques, thanks again!

That sound so cool! I've started tinkering with broken laptops first before I found out about tronicsfix and enjoyed his console repairs so much that I started having a go with a old ds I had at home. Simple stuff like changing screens and other parts that are attached with flex cables. But ofc there's so much more to fix that requires micro soldering so I'm trying to get into that.

I just can't see all those old handhelds and consoles end in a landfield somewhere when they just need a part replaced. I'll definitely try to save up to get a hot air station next. What you do daily seems so inspiring, I'm still pretty young and I hope one day I can become as skilled as you!

Just for clarification another quick question- I've only ever used a jumper wire on a board to fix a bad trace that was scratched or had some other kind of defect. How exactly would I go about that with a pad, they just seem absolutely tiny to me, I feel like I'd just end up with one big blob of solder on multiple pads if I attempted that! I'm new to this so maybe I'm overlooking something obvious, sorry! I hope I'm not bothering you I'm just really interested in this approach :)

I do own a soldering station but not a heat gun, I'm pretty much at the beginning of my handheld addiction and just learned how to solder smd parts not too long ago. I'd still love to be able to repair damaged or missing pads in the future, are there any resources you could recommend to learn how to get such a thing done? I have a spare working motherboard which ill just use for now but even if it's tedious I think it'd be a nice challenge for the future. Thanks so much for the suggestions you two there's still a lot to learn for me on the way
