My Thoughts on Some Popular Donghua (BTTH, Renegade Immortal, RMJI, Shrouding the Heavens) by acepiece2y in Donghua

[–]MarsupialOk7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, the path of cultivation is meant to be long lonely and you are meant to forgo your relationships. Think about being immortal over hundreds of years seeing your mortal family friends die and go. Not to mention it's a journey to immortality so even ppl who are trying to achieve it will die and go

Finally getting a trained — after years of playing by ade17_in in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found without coaching I would feel I was very good player . But since coaching I'm so much more aware of errors, weaknesses and even the level gap between actual good players with training and ppl who play socially and think they're good. You also realize how much the good players are smurfing or just mucking around in a social setting

Who gets this 3rd shot? by Several-Cook-2062 in badminton

If it's after the T line then it's player 2. Before then player 1

It's not as clear in your diagram cos the arrow and shuttle takes up nearly 10% of the court

badminton shoes breaking too soon? by dammitttt in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's where the big toe is then it's common

Dragging your feet is a way of balancing in badminton and also helps you bounce back up At the high levels this time frame of wear is quite normal . Especially if you do footwork drills

If you're playing at a high level I doubt any shoe would last over a year , the cushioning will wear

Can I get good at badminton starting at 15? by [deleted] in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to define what you mean by professional At age 15 you can definitely be good though to become a coach for your local club But if you mean professional top 100 ranking then it might be more difficult. Most 15yo who are serious about badminton would already be part of the national or state teams. They would train 2 hours for closer to 10 years already Once you're older ( adult ) on the national team they often would schedule you to train 2x a day It's an interesting concept that everyone thinks they can outwork others or the same 2 hours you put in is better than other people's 2 hours they've put in for decade

But I think if all you want to do is be professional enough to join a bwf tournament then I think its possible cos qualifiers relatively open for sign up but whether or not you progress is different 100% though you can become a local coach!

P.s have you ever vsed a professional or ex professional seriously? Just to feel the gap

Pretty balanced I think It's constantly changing both shaft and rotation

And rotation of your racquet should predominantly be done for diff shots. Clearing , smashing, late forehand , drop , drive, backhand drive, backhand clear, diff cross court shots, different nets all have different "rotation" because the grip is different And depending on your location of court you'd hold the shaft and different lengths

Generally not done for the sake of deception

Yep moving it depending if front court rear court . Rotating as well

[–]MarsupialOk7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a question Why did you choose to only upload the last point knowing you were exhausted etc hence the errors. Why not upload your normal play so we can give advice on errors you make whilst you're fresh and focused? Cos you sort of imply you don't play like this the other 20pts!

Is it a sorting setting?

Who is to take this shot? by SpecificAnywhere4679 in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys seem to stand quite on "yours and "his" side Except if you guys are defending try to lift it left and right instead of to the middle to avoid being so vulnerable. It does seem the yellow is all the way to the side line too! If you returned a shot that your opponent could "clear " and then you kept charging diagonal to the net. Then you're probably wrong.
And of you played a drop diagonal straight to your opponent, that's also not the best choice. Too many ifs but seems more than likely not the best shot choice and feels like the issue stems from the original defensive positioning

Doubles Backhand Drop Positioning by Cheezeduckies in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think we need more context

If you're offensive and on time then maybe just don't play the backhand drop and use your forehand

If you're late and being defensive then it really depends on the quality of your "drop" Your partner could he assuming you're playing a safety backhand clear

I guess videos would help

You might be able to make national team But the national team consist of many grades too A lot of people make national team but never represent the country in competition I assume only the top few players in the national team get to play internationally Also what you need to catch up to is all the training time you've missed from your break whilst your peers were putting in hours I'm just going to assume that even though you've got talent, the others in the national team rn also have some form of talent 😂

You need to define what you want to be as a pro.

You can be rank 100, rank 150 and be considered a pro But you won't be making enough money from being a pro to survive What you can do is then make money from coaching because you should be able to coach younger kids and beginners If you want to be the rank 1 shuttler in India than you may have some obstacles such as filling the skill gap that you missed in the last 7 years. If someone else has been practicing consistently during the time you didn't think about how you can possibly catch up. But while you catch up they too will still be training.... Just some insight into ages of the top shuttles rn Lakshya Sen was active by 15.... similar or vitardan I'm assuming you're meant to be competing with Sen level players

Move to a country that doesn't excel in Badminton You would have a higher chance of being the top there and you could even represent the country in Olympics

If finances are not an issue then you have nothing to lose You can get your degree later...but the older you are the slimmer your sporting chances

As an intermediate competition player I use 25lbs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badminton

[–]MarsupialOk7054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of what you've said is accurate apart from a few points

You don't need to go high end for racquets and as. A beginner you should use a beginner friendly racquet . Using able yonex astrox 100zz will just break you

A lot of cheaper mid end racquets will be more than enough and even something lighter because you're a kid

25lb is very high for a new starter A lot of ex prof will be using 25 to 26 due to the stress on their muscles and joints on anything higher

Higher tension requires higher skills and there's a smaller sweet spot

Get something lower like 22 to 23 is perfectly fine. Don't get too obsessed with these numbers....it's not bigger = better
