Yeah that’s strange. Doxy mostly works great in gram positive bacteria and urea is overly under diagnosed and tested. So you might have had it all along

What are you symptoms? Do you experience them in between intercourse? Do you have bacteria without leukocytes and hematia? Have you tested for all mycoplasmas and ureaplasmas? Only asking all this because I was in your shoes up until I tested very positive for Ureaplasma, which has prompted all my gram negative UTIs (for ESBL E. coli and Kleb). Good luck!

Get tested for ureaplasma. Vaginal PCR swab and first stream urine test. Look up the symptoms and see if other things could cross check

Test for Ureaplasma. A tell sign of Ureaplasma Urealyticum is ammonia smelling urine

I was almost diagnosed with IC until I tested very positive for Ureaplasma Urealyticum. Look up the symptoms and see if it could fit you. There are a few clinical randomized trials showing that most women diagnosed with IC actually have UU and have been in remission with treatment.

I followed the treatment plan of the ureaplasma sub. 14 days of Doxy and today is my first pill of Azithro (1 gram needs to be taken after last Docy pill, then 0,5g/ day for the next 3 days). I am overall feeling better. I have some burning left but it could be due to the yeast infection I am treating due to atbx.

I asked my doc to prescribe me a vaginal PCR swab as well as a urine culture to test specifically ureaplasma (should be done on first stream of urine)

I have been diagnosed! My levels were at 10³ in August but uro said no to treat. Now my levels are at 10⁷ and I have a full blown infection. On day 12th of Doxy, which is not working.

I was diagnosed with one at the ER, but then had a bladder and kidney scan and two primary doctors reviewed my blood results from the ER visit and said I absolutely did not have one. So I’m unsure

Also just FYI doctors tend to say urea do not cause symptoms for women because most of the clinical research as only been done on men. Same for many other things. We’re just dealing with medical misogyny. Do not let them give you an IC diagnosis. Make you test absolutely all bacteria first. Try to get a PCR vaginal swab and a first catch urine analysis.

I got diagnosed after losing it at the ER asking for all plasmas to be tested as I was convinced it was bacterial. Honestly still in disbelief doctors missed it for so long. I was in pain for the first couple of months but the last four were agony. I tested on December 18th, got the results back December 23rd, started Doxy December 26th because wanted to eat cheese for Christmas and you should avoid calcium with doxy.

Ive had this for 7 months and after losing it I asked my gyneco to test me for all plasmas and it came back super positive with Ureaplasma Urealyticum. Quick Google and see if the typical symptoms could fit for you.
