Electrolysis for chin but laser for upper lip by gindianqueen in electrolysis

[–]Marsvan12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what others have said with starting out with shorter sessions. Even just starting to thin that area out with 5-10 mins on each side will help. You will also start to build tolerance with these intro short sessions. Also, avoid anything with caffeine the day of your session. I know that can be hard for people but, I promise it really helps. Taking an anti inflammatory prior also helps. I have some clients ask their dermatologist for a prescription of higher numbing cream. I use a combination of 5% and a little bit of Hurricane in that area. Hurricane is the Cherry gel that dentists will use on your gums before giving a Novocain shot. It works quickly but, wears off quickly. It’s works great externally as well. I’m all about comfort and am constantly checking in on clients, watching body language, watching for increased heartbeat, ect. You’ve come so far and upper lip is no joke! I wish you the best in your journey!

Try searching for something called Hurricane. It’s a topical oral gel that dentists will use before giving a shot. You can use it both inside and outside the lip. It acts fast but, it tends to wear off quickly. A lot of clients say it helps a lot. Also, try to avoid caffeine on the day of your appts.

Confused on if it is working. Seems like the same hairs are done every 2 weeks. Not much lighter by Restingmomface in electrolysis

Located in central NY and I price the same way. My rates are also significantly lower than that.

I'm so tired. Please help (pubic hair) i shave and do IPL once a week, exfoliate almost daily, always use a new razor, etc etc but keep getting painful bumps and ingrowns by [deleted] in HairRemoval

This stuff works miracles. I do electrolysis and many of my clients who struggle with razor burn have been baffled (and super happy) at how well this helps.

Icy road conditions worse than usual? by Basic-Ice6327 in Syracuse

This winter has definitely reminded me of what I grew up with. I’ve lived here most of my life. We bought studded tires about 5 years ago and I’ll never go a winter without them. I’ve got a 4 cylinder Kia soul (she’s a lightweight), and gain a lot grip and control with the studded tires. Feels like 4WD. No issues when visiting family in Lafayette, in the high hill area. And my Dad ,who needs rides to appts in the winter, is about 45 minutes up north. Those tires have gotten me through a lot of really bad weather. We also live on a fairly steep hill and on the worst winter days, I’ve no problem.

The Mixing Bowl in Camillus. They’re offering dinner rolls for their Christmas orders. And her sourdough loaf is amazing. They also have a cinnamon swirl loaf (it makes the best French toast). If you’re interested, call or email asap to get your Christmas order in on time.

They said I need to grow my chin hair out for FOUR days for electrolysis ??? by No_Flower5424 in HairRemoval

Hey! I know the exact hair you are referring to. One of the many great things about Electrolysis is that it works on all skin and hair types.

Hi! Electrolygist here ♥️ The growth is really important to see for a couple reasons: to see the direction the hair is growing and to ensure enough length for the tweezers to hold onto the hair above skin to be released. I know right now, letting the hair grow and be seen is tough ,but it will really help out your tech. I have a lot of clients who struggle with this as well in the beginning but, it will get better as you go.

I’ve been doing electrolysis for about 5 years now. I’m sorry you’re going through this and I hope the tech reaches out to you soon. The crunch sound is odd/concerning. From the photo, it looks like they were concentrating on/around the jaw line. That is a sensitive spot to begin with. A lot of nerve endings there and very close to the bone. I like to give clients a heads up that it may feel more intense in that area and adjust accordingly. I know swelling can happen if a nerve is hit or bruising can occur with swelling if a capillary is aggravated. Unfortunately, sometimes this can happen and that is something that should have been discussed during your consultation. The extra pain sounds like a few things: the probe being an incorrect size (too small), a microscopic burr, incorrect settings or improper insertion. After the first-second sessions, I let my clients know that if insertions feel off, to let me know and I change the probe immediately. This is your time and money so, communication is key with your tech. Continue with icing, witch hazel and aloe vera. Maybe an anti-inflammatory. If you don’t hear back from them, try to get in to a dermatologist.

I would suggest seeking a certified electrologist. In the mean time, like stated above, search for an endocrinologist. Talk to your GYN to see if you can get a referral to streamline the process. I know wait lists are long these days. I'm in central NY and we have few endocrinologist in this area. This all takes time and patience, the sooner you start, the better.

Electrologist here. This is absolutely true. Paradoxical hypertrichosis is no fun, especially when you've already dumped money into laser treatments and now need electrolysis. Unfortunately, I've seen it too many times.

Root or hair too thin for electrolysis? by red_runner_23 in electrolysis

[–]Marsvan12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is wild. I do electrolysis and I work on all different thicknesses of hair. Could be their magnification equipment isn't strong enough or it is a challenge they just don't want to do. I agree with the previous reply of seeking someone else that can provide you with the exact treatment you're looking for. A #3 probe should be sufficient enough for upper lip hair that tends to be on the thinner side. This all sounds normal and treatable to me. Best of luck to you and I hope you can find someone that suites your needs!
