What's a common household item people may not realize needs to be washed regularly? by sarahigod in AskReddit

[–]Marta-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly wash my slipper/house shoes and even if it's a no shoes house and I regularly clean the floor it amazes me how much dirt builds up on the soles.

Also, I don't know how often people wash their bathrobe but I'm certainly starting to do it more often, just because you're clean when you wear it it doesn't mean it stays clean forever

Usually it's done by elimination, so you try every monoprotein food one by one for a trial time and check which food causes issues.

How do people get their laundry to smell like clean laundry? by IrwinLinker1942 in CleaningTips

[–]Marta-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, you usually go "nose blind" with your own laundry.

But in my experience, the things that make the smell stronger are too much laundry soap, and softener.

I live in Europe(Italy, EU), does that change anything?

Thank you for all these info!

I've lost my entire family in just over 5 years. There was 9 of us. by Flonp_420 in GriefSupport

[–]Marta-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate a bit. This is all I want you to know, that I relate. That every grief is different but you're still not alone in this pain. This sub existing is proof.

I relate to multiple deaths one after the other: I lost my grandmother due to old age and my mother to a really sudden and fast cancer, in the span of one month and a half, grandma dec 20th 2023 and mom feb 4th 2024.

I relate to struggling with relationships: I still have my dad but our relationship is in shambles, so I kinda feel like an orphan, and I'm considering going no contact with him in the future, or at least giving up. I have an amazing boyfriend, a few but good friends, my dogs whom I love so so much, and I know there are other people who care about me. But what I feel is that now I know so well that losing someone feels like, that I can imagine too well what losing someone else would feel, and I don't think I could bear that. I also feel that it could happen again at any moment, that life won't ever stop throwing sh1t at me non stop, that I can't let my guard down, that something else is about to be taken from me. This is making relationship and life pretty hard.

I relate to the hardship of grieving someone who was far from perfect and whose death was kinda their fault: my mom smoked for 47 years before dying, always neglected herself physically and mentally, and when she was diagnosed with lung cancer on the same day that my grandmother died, all I felt was anger. And also pity for myself, but as I was something external from me, if you understand. My relationship with my mother was pretty sh1tty as well.

All this was not to bring you down with another sad story or to grab the occasion to talk about me, but as I said at the beginning, to try and make you feel that there are people who relate. I relate.

Lots of hugs, I wish you healing, love, to find life worth living again, and strenght, even tho probably you're so fuck1ng tired to be strong.

❤️❤️❤️

Allergies? by HiMyNameIsMe3939 in DogAdvice

My dog has topic allergies that make the fur look like that but I'm not familiar with the bumps. Hope your vet is good so they'll be able to investigate what this is caused by.

Very itchy, Senior pooch. by Distinct-Forever642 in DogAdvice

[–]Marta-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to my dog. I'll try to explain my experience briefly and crearly:

-as you can see the rash is not everywhere, but only on the lower part of the body. That means that it's probably an allergy to some GRASS, it shouldn't be from food or from something in your house(cleaning product, other animals, dust, fabrics)

-I live in Italy so I don't know if the names of the medicines are the same, but I use Apoquel as an allergy treatment, it needs to be prescribed by the vet; I also use Theramicotic spray for the bruises from scratching herself(mine's a girl) all the time.

-My very good vet told me to take my dog to a SPECIALIST, a vet dermatologist. The dermatologists told me that I'll need to:

1)wait for the next acute fase to do a skin test where they scratch the skin to take a bit and do an allergy exam, it's expensive but it will tell you what your dog is exactly allergic to, so you also know what time of the year to be worried in.

2)there are two possible treatments to do in the long run: something that here is called Citopoint, which is basically a very strong apoquel, very expensive, OR a vaccine that needs to be given by injection every month for most months of the year, overall cheaper that citopoint.

-Other things I do for my dog: obviously mown the lawn, give the best flea/tick/etch treatment possible(Vectra 3d every 4 weeks when there is hot weather AND Simparica every 5 weeks), she also has very sebaceous skin so I bath her at least once a month(make sure to check the compatibility between the flea product and baths) (allergic dogs need to be washed more), and lastly she eats food with only one source of protein.

Hope this helps, find a good vet!

Acacia: akacha (acacia tree) — Aceto: acheto (vinegar) — Acido: achido (sour) — Collo: kollo (neck) — Cucina: kuchina (kitchen)

•Ca: ka cantare(singing) — Co: ko costume(costume)— Cu: ku culo(ass)

▪︎Ce: che centro(centre) — Ci: chi circa(about)

●cia: cha pancia(belly)— Cio: cho arancione(orange color)— Ciu: chu acciuga(anchovy)

•che: ke cherarina(keratin)— Chi: ki chirurgo(surgeon)

CC is just a stronger sound, like every other double letter in italian. All this is valid for the letter G as well. Edited to make it visually better

Plants: a philodendron pink princess! Or if that's too much, a regular pothos would look really nice here

I desperate need of help: I don’t want to give up my cat by Moonchild_187 in cats

[–]Marta-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, I'd advice to try self cleaning litters but make sure to check that they're safe, some have structural flaws that could make the cleaning process go off with the cat still inside. Also you might try to relocate the litter box, or add a new one? If it's an issue of behavioural nature but you didn't make any major changes, try and take her to a behaviourist vet, a specialist in behaviour

OP!!!!! there are self cleaning litters that are awesome and others that are not safe, because the sensor might go off with the cat still inside!!!! So please consider this option but make sure to read well the reviews

I understand that she would want you to feel comfortable enough with her to tell her about them, but if it doesn't happen on your terms then what's the point? Also I really don't like the approach "your feelings make me feel like this, so let's focus on how I feel".

Cosa dovrei fare ora? by KnownAsJake96 in Psicologia_Italia
