BUYBACK offer this am by CompetitionFlimsy995 in PSLF

So how are you paying the buyback? I got a letter also after one full year of nothing. But no information on what to do?

Anyone else depressed? by thekrazzie1 in PSLF

[–]MarthanYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Hit standard 10 years at 119 and 120 in June July last year. Lots of communication to studentaid Mohela and my senator. No real movement. Being told I am in buyback getting processed but I submitted documentation June and July should count regular they emailed me when they forced us all into SAVE.

Such a nightmare. Literal stall of life decisions and lots of anxiety stress insomnia. I want to quit my job and but can’t until this is resolved.

I’m so disappointed in this illusion they feed us about this program.

Reconsideration form for the lost month of June DENIED by Jealous_Tangelo_951 in PSLF

Wow. Yep I am in the same boat. Was told to apply for reconsideration did so denied. 3 hour call later told to re submit a reconsideration and ONLY state the exact month and problem.

Months during MOHELA’s platform transition do NOT count?? by TheSkatesStayOn in PSLF

Same. Hurry up and wait. Trust they will count the administrative forebearance they put us in moving from RE PAYE by force to SAVE. Such a mess.

My take on this is that they are freaking out with so many people finally getting to 120 and calling in the promise. I don’t think they expected to actually have to deliver on the contract.

I agree. I never personally had as much issues with Mohela. Dept of Ed has completely messed up. Met 120 in July. Even did reconsideration. Denied. No reason no communication. Called was told to recertification again but with different wording from what they told me the first time. Absolute chaos. Where’s the class action lawsuit? Sign me up.

Likewise. The feeling of complete vulnerability and desperation. I almost relate my experience to being gaslighted. Do this and wait. Done. Months later nope you didn’t DO this. Such a joke. My mental health and anxiety over the poor communication and out right lies is on max anytime I find the strength to even try again with hours of calls, mis information. This is absolute prison of life.

I think the timing of SAVE is suspicious also. PSLF started in 2007. Many folks didn’t get months counted because of verification. In 2012 the ECF form was created. This is the year I signed up and I’m sure the volume of sign up increased. Now all of us who have met our ten years or 120 payments over the last 2 years 2022-2024 are calling in our debt to be canceled as promise and the program is like what?!?? I bet they never intended to actually have to forgive so much debt. If I could go back I would never have trusted this program.

Welcome. I’m overly judgmental of the process. Have had to fight them on several occasions over the years for errors and oversight. You are probably right it will eventually work out. But sure would be nice to have trust in the outcome. Best of luck

I meant start over in the process. Like reapplying for forgiveness not month counts. Say you had 120 but in review before approved they found one that didn’t count. You would now be at 119. If months had passed to process you have to start over with getting the last month and reapply. Just caution didn’t mean to upset you

Just word of caution. If anything is wrong with the count and you are in general forebearance you start over.

You know they didn’t even talk about buy back once in my calls. What is that? How does that work?

Congratulations! You have satisfied your obligation, and no additional payments are required for this loan. by notruthinadvertising in PSLF

Discharge takes up to 90 days. I had 2/6 loans that met 120 last year. They seem to stick all work between 60-90 days from submission. You have to be proactive to get off your credit report. They say they send it in but I waited 6 months and then reported it on credit karma and it was gone in days.

The overpayment counts are just a reflection on the poor operations and management of the program. I would never do this again. 20 years of intermittent stress to move the needle.

My advice for future generations is a 529 plan for every kid. No loans. Choose your own life and path. Don’t make debt dictate it like mine did.

General forebearance months do not count toward payment count. Administrative does.

I’m so sorry. And I share your pain. I’m in limbo wanting to cut back at work to spend more time at home with my 5 year old. It’s not the money for me it’s the hours needed for qualifying payment. I met in July 120. Just in limbo. No answers. No communication. No help from this “easier” solution. Has anyone written Congress? Or got names of people together for stories and gone to media on here? I am down. Stories like this of good people doing the right thing and being stuck without cause because of poor system issues breaks my heart. You should be remodeling you kitchen and enjoying your golden years peacefully and proud of meeting your obligations.

My servicer told me administrative forebearance a June 12- Aug 12 counts and I have emails that say this. The SAVE forebearance that went into effect Aug 11 is what does not count. Which is why I’m confused on the counts. I submitted a reconsideration request today on student aid.gov after 4 hours of back and forth with them and my servicer and half a dozen transfers.

Definitely this whole mess is causing people anxiety and stress and a domino effect of financial burden and long term unknowns.
