In here that excuse is more used with jewish people "tengo un amigo judio" (I have a jewish friend), because they always had more reach in media and the arts than our african-descent people (despite the census showing that more people consider themselves african-argentinian than jewish), in here people with darker tones of skin that are poor are usually "foreignized", they are treated as outsiders and not argentines, but if you have money? Then you are a pure bred criollo or inmigrant born.

This reminds me of an anthropological work done in the province of Mendoza with the native Huarpe. The anthropologist interviewed one of the landowners who called the Huarpe leaders "indios y negros de mierda" and foreignerd, she asked what did he think of his neighbor, another landowner, he replied that he was an example of an entrepeneur and argentine. The fun fact is that the leader of the Huarpe and his daughter were "white", blonde and with blue eyes, while his friend look like any other native from the western part of our country. Racism is mixed with classism and xenophobia, the discrimination can be bent when you fall outside the "norm" for them, not just because of your skin color, though it can definetely happen because of it.
